Let's face it.... the people in Washington just aren't very intelligent. It would have been intelligent to do what you said but I'll bet it never entered their mind. However, I don't think I would have trusted Trump to stick to an agreement like that.True. And Trump supporters simply do not occupy any moral high ground on this sort of thing. It’s comical to watch them act as if they do.
As for Pres. Biden, doing this comes at some cost to his legacy. And I’m sure he knows that. I’m also sure he doesn’t care. And he’s probably right not to.
That said, if they could each have trusted each other enough (fat chance), they probably should’ve traded pardons on January 20th - with Biden pardoning Trump in his last act as president and Trump pardoning Hunter with his first.
Had they done that, I honestly think it would’ve had some cathartic effect on the country.
They could’ve exchanged the ordering documents at the WH prior to heading to the Capitol. Of course, Trump would still have to follow through on it afterwards and could have ripped it back after the swearing in. And by then it would be too late for Biden to welch in kind. I’m not entirely sure how that process works.Let's face it.... the people in Washington just aren't very intelligent. It would have been intelligent to do what you said but I'll bet it never entered their mind. However, I don't think I would have trusted Trump to stick to an agreement like that.
Here’s the problem with your logic as I see it. If you don’t make an example of these no good, corrupt asshats that actually have broken the law, they will do all this shit again when they are back in office. There will be no grace given to anyone in the Trump administration. Dems will continue to make shit up to try to jail their opponents. Dems are the worst. Rules for the but not for me people. Anyone that has broken the law should be prosecuted to the fullest. F@ck the give some grace bs. Bury them!I agree. I was hoping Trump would pardon Hunter if Biden didn’t.
No lawfare. Leave Jack Smith, Fauci, Schiff, Milley, Garland and the rest of them alone. They will meet their maker some day.

I agree with some of this, but the lies and hypocrisy will never leave Biden’s legacy. Tax evasion is anti-American and the some of the worst. Also, don’t details matter too?
“I have never seen language like this in a pardon document that purports to pardon offenses that have not apparently even been charged, with the exception of the Nixon pardon,” said Margaret Love, who served from 1990 to 1997 as the U.S. pardon attorney, a Justice Department position devoted to assisting the president on clemency issues.
You have to admit Hunter's case was slightly different. Hunter's a coke addict dirtbag ..Our president elect pardoned his son in laws father, who was convicted of tax evasion, illegal campaign donations and then tried to set up his brother in law with a prostitute in a room where it would be recorded.
And our president elect wants him to be our ambassador to France.
I'm sure the same people complaining about Hunter's pardon are the same ones that complained when Trump was pardoning his merry bunch 🙄

Shorter. Biden and his crowd are scummy. Like we told you. Add in dumb and purveyors of horrific policies and rhetoric and you have the worst administration of my lifetime.I'm more appreciative that Joe didn't give a f about the potential PR reaction, which is an attitude and mindset that I'd like to see Dems move more towards.
Jon Stewart did a good job making this strategic point which is basically Dems constantly step on their dicks because they are more overly concerned about ettique and their misplaced importance on historical political norms, whereas Republicans might like it, but don't really give a f about it so it doesn't get in their way of driving their government intentions.
Dems are focused and burdened by the long standing rules while Republicans will strategically focus on loopholes around those rules and don't give a f if it upsets anyone.
Ultimately you are judged by the results of your actions, not because you violated long standing historical norm.
Garland was an example of that difference. McConnell created a loophole around a long standing agreement and morm that made the Dems whine 'he's violating a longstanding agreement' to which he basically answered, 'I don't give a f#$k'.
Then when Ginsburg died he overroad his previous stated logic and the Dems cried again on how it was ethically dirty political hardball, to which McConnell again said 'I don't give a f#$k' and he got exactly what he wanted.
But also look at Obama's response. There were some suggesting to Obama to find and create a loophole around the standard norm, base it on a derelict of duty stance and have Garland force confirmed.
Obama wouldn't do that because he was too afraid of upsetting long standing historical political norms (I bet he didn't think Hillary would lose and was scared of his legacy if he overrode the process).
At the end of the day, it confirmed the loss of the justice seat. Repubs win again, Dems lose again.
So yeah, I'm actually kindof glad he likely doesn't give a f#$k what people think or if it will hurt his legacy. Again ultimately you are judged by the actual results generated from the actions taken, just like McConnell is seen as a very shrewd political strategic force, especially by the base that he's most concerned about.
This pardon wasn’t about the gun charge or tax evasion. You’re missing the big picture.I agree with some of this, but the lies and hypocrisy will never leave Biden’s legacy. Tax evasion is anti-American and the some of the worst. Also, don’t details matter too?

Next to Obama, of course.Shorter. Biden and his crowd are scummy. Like we told you. Add in dumb and purveyors of horrific policies and rhetoric and you have the worst administration of my lifetime.
What father wouldn't give up a little legacy to protect his child?I agree with some of this, but the lies and hypocrisy will never leave Biden’s legacy. Tax evasion is anti-American and the some of the worst. Also, don’t details matter too?

C'mon man. This is far from precedent setting.Dems should be pissed though. This selfishly damages the party. Also sets a bad precedent, although I'm not sure what precedents are even good for, anymore.

Obama pulled us out of a difficult economic time and got pre-existing covered.
Hunter was an addict and lied to get a gun. Whistle blowers called Biden the big guy. Not remotely comparableOur president elect pardoned his son in laws father, who was convicted of tax evasion, illegal campaign donations and then tried to set up his brother in law with a prostitute in a room where it would be recorded.

I don't think Biden will have much of a legacy, outside of presidential scholars. I think his legacy will be that he was Barack Obama's vice president and 100 years from now half the kids in Civics classes will get the true/false question about whether or not he served as term as president wrong.True. And Trump supporters simply do not occupy any moral high ground on this sort of thing. It’s comical to watch them act as if they do.

Yes, the fact that this is a blanket pardon, covering about a ten year period, is quite a doozy. And that's really something to consider, given the insistence of Biden's defenders on the left insisting that the pardon was just, because the charges wouldn't have been brought against anybody else.I agree with some of this, but the lies and hypocrisy will never leave Biden’s legacy. Tax evasion is anti-American and the some of the worst. Also, don’t details matter too?

Obama was the worst President of my lifetime, by a wide margin. The divider in chief. Absolute bum.Obama pulled us out of a difficult economic time and got pre-existing covered.

Yeah, he really bent the cost curve on that one.Obama pulled us out of a tough economic time. He also got pre-existing conditions covered. A significant achievement that touches tens of millions of lives
Biden wasn’t going to pardon Hunter, Kamala was. But that game plan didn’t materialize! What father wouldn't give up a little legacy to protect his child?
