This reminds me of the aftermath of the Tailhook scandal, except in this case there is no scandal. Here all we have are rank and file FBI agents doing their duties as assigned in two legitimate investigations. After Tailhook, I and every officer at the time had to sign a statement saying whether we were at Tailhook or not. Of course, most of us weren't even aviators so had no reason to be there. For years after, every list of officer promotions was screened for names of officers that were known to be at that Tailhook event. Only some of them were involved in the scandal part of the event (the rest of it was legit), but everyone that was at the event had their careers affected. Many who were thought to be locks for promotion weren't promoted, or their promotions were delayed merely because they were there. That was an extremely stupid overreaction, and this could be far worse.

Hard to believe. Their work led to countless convictions and guilty pleas. Some on this board are getting the authoritarian state they wanted.
Explain what is so funny Jets. It's ok not to bend at the knee for all things Trump. You are still allowed to think for yourself.

Jets... You are still allowed to think for yourself.

It’s no longer just FBI staff who worked the Trump cases. Now thousands of FBI employees, including career investigators and prosecutors, involved in all the January 6 cases are being targeted.

I thought things bottomed out when Trump pardoned the violent offenders. Apparently not.

Never thought I’d ever see this kind of shit in the US.

Great news!!!!!!!

The message with the violent offender pardons was, “You can do anything, including attack cops, in your support of Trump and we’ll have your backs.”

The message now, with the FBI purge, is: “Hey federal investigators and prosecutors, if you want to remain employed, don’t even think about investigating Trump or his supporters.” Talk about a chilling effect.

We’re moving toward a political environment where allegiance to Trump supersedes everything else.

I always assumed federal employees had some sort of civil protections related to job security. Higher-ups in departments sure they generally don't have those but rank and file, unless your job performance is that bad, generally have a cloak around them. Anyone have any expertise on this?

Your assumption is correct, but we'll continue to see that compliance means little to nothing in Trump 2.0

A little over reaction. Perhaps you should find out who it actually involves. I doubt you objected when the last administration did it, but now it's the end of the world. A little common sense goes along way.

Did what?

You do feel for the rank and file FBI who were tasked with going after 1/6’ers in the biggest FBI investigation of all time. Especially when they presumably wanted to be doing actual serious work.

To the extent this administration is able to identify agents who made this a crusade, by all means flush them out

I already know who it involves. They're going after everyone at the Bureau who was involved in the January 6 cases.

And no, the last administration didn't fvcking purge the FBI.

This is all as expected. They said the FBI would be reformed in a major way.

The neighborhood Republican FBI guy...GREAT dude...

"Near the end of my career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) I was forced to make a decision on whether to take the Covid vaccine. According the Biden Administration I had no choice. Take the vaccine or be fired. There were artificial deadlines, rumors of when terminations would take place for those of us refusing the vaccine and I was placed on “the list” of unvaccinated. Initially I had to take a Covid test every two days-at my expense (I still receive threatening collection notices today) and upload the results to an app they created. That later was changed to every three days. At the beginning of all the madness my supervisor called me one afternoon while I was out of town for a meeting and told me she had received a call from FBI Headquarters saying that it if I did not produce a negative Covid test that night I was forbidden from entering “any FBI space.” Tests were hard to come by at that stage. Luckily, I found one at a Speedway gas station and potentially saved my job. I was a single dad of two boys and being threatened with termination. I later wrote my own religious exemption and was told they had received it and it would be assessed and I would be notified. In typical government fashion, I never heard anything. I was able to make it to the finish line and retire, between 7-9 years before I would have been mandatory and could have continued my career.

Why do I write all of this? Currently there is a crazy amount of anxiety and fear in the FBI and FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) regarding the current Administration’s perceived threats to terminate employees involved in any J6 investigation. Let me be very clear, I do not support any political retribution or unfair termination of anyone’s employment! The FBIAA is putting out daily emails with guidance and support. On call counselors, a crisis hotline, Copline, Cop-2cop hotline and reminders they will use attorneys at their disposals to fight for their people. That’s all fantastic. Where were all of these resources and support for those of us that didn’t take the vaccine? It didn’t exist. I wasn’t even allowed in restaurants in Washington, DC while there on FBIAA business. No. One. Cared. I was on the National Executive Board for the FBIAA. I was asked in a meeting how many Agents wouldn’t take the vaccine? I had to remind them I had NOT started a militia, wasn’t anti-vax, not a Covid denier and simply made a decision that I felt was best for me and my family. Didn’t matter. The similarities to what is going on today is scary. The fact that no one did a damn thing to defend the approximately 1000 of us who didn’t take the vaccine is even more scary.

Today’s environment in the FBI is self created. A lot of political/agenda decisions were made over many years and now there are consequences. We The People have spoken through an election."
