Another middle finger to the rule of law

as long as men make said laws, and enforce or don't enforce said laws, it can be no other way than of men.
Except Biden has taken an oath to faithfully execute the laws. So have the Soros prosecutors. What if we have a POTUS who decides he or she don’t like inheritance taxes? Does that mean people don’t need to pay?

positions and policies on immigration have swung back and forth since we became a nation. Neither extreme has to date imploded the US. But debating whether our clearly secure national elections are rigged or not is a new thing. If this becomes normalized, we’re f*cked. No representation, no checks and balances, none of that good stuff. Some willfully ignorant right-leaning folks need to think this through…..
Nope. We have immigration laws which Biden and Mayorkas dont enforce. The Border Patrol has effectively been prevented from doing their job.

Every state has laws through which elections can be challenged. That’s part of the rule of law. As I’ve said eleventy million times in this board, I don’t approve for for a second of Trump’s post-election conduct. But I don’t want to live in a place where the authorities prohibit that conduct.

The only thing that separates you from bailey and a few others here is your writing ability, which is somewhat better than theirs. But it's the same bullshit tactic of distract, deflect and "whatabout Biden." You're unable to defend Trump, so you quickly pivot to unrelated matters and hope that nobody notices.

This thread is about Trump and, in particular, his incendiary speech Saturday night. He's talking about pardoning hundreds of US Capitol rioters and assailants who attempted to block two hallmarks of our democracy - - the certification of a presidential election, and the peaceful transfer of power. He's also trying to intimidate prosecutors who are conducting lawful investigations into his misconduct. Don't feebly attempt to draw a parallel with the current president (or any of Trump's predecessors, for that matter) because there isn't one. What Trump did in Texas Saturday night is unprecedented in American history, and just another example of why he's an ongoing threat to democracy and a cancer on the country.
You really have no clue what an absolute idiot you are do you?

Trump wants to continue these "rallies" but to keep the attendance from dissipating to nada he will need to become more over the top and shrill at each one. When he shows up with a pallet of grape Flavor-Aid you will know it is the last one.

Grab some popcorn, this will be entertaining to say the least.

I'm not a Dem, I'm not talking about Biden, and this has nothing to do with Biden. I'm talking about the outrageous words and conduct of the former president who continues to hold rallies, rake in cash, remains the frontrunner for the GOP nomination in 2024, and has people like you eating out of his hand. His behavior is indefensible, yet his legion of Trumpers - - including proud members like you - - continue to venerate this reckless and dangerous SOB.
I am a proud Trumper! We don’t think his words are outrageous. We support what he says.

He has some good points. The pardons don't bother me near as much as his(Trump) other crap. I've never believed in pardons from any president but it is the rule of law and some have pardoned a LOT of people. Seems like I read somewhere that Roosevelt pardoned over 2,000 people and I remember Clinton pardoning a lot of people in his last days as presidents.

pardons are part of the rule of law. At least Trump is open and transparent about his intentions. Don’t like it? Don’t vote for him. Or better yet call him names on the internet. That’s your right.

Contrast that with the other guy who gives the rule of law the finger by not only welcoming illegal immigrants, but giving them free airfare to the US destination of their choosing plus other travel perks. I don’t recall his promise not to enforce immigration law during his campaign. Dishonest.

Oh, and don’t forget the left-wing operative who hides behind his foundation and other money-laundering operations to fund prosecuting attorney elections for those who refuse to enforce or prosecute whole classes of crime—based on who offends.

If the rule of law is under attack, only one guy is honest and open about it.
Of course pardons relate to the rule of law, and represent a presidential power derived from the Constitution. But when's the last time a candidate for president (that's what Trump is now) referred to a violent mob, egged on by him, that attempted to halt or delay the Congressional certification of a presidential election as "political prisoners" who are being "treated so unfairly" by federal prosecutors? When's the last time a candidate for president campaigned on a promise of pardons - - - for US Capitol rioters or for anyone else?

Trump's ongoing assault on democratic norms, values and institutions continues, but thankfully for him he's got people like you.

Your point is well-taken, but you won't get a cogent reply. The response is almost always some version of "Look! Over there!"

Instead of making this about me, why not offer your view of Trump's remarks at the rally Saturday night? Be specific.
I don't watch Trump events, nor read transcripts.

What does HuffPo, _YT, WaPo, and the Atlantic have to say about the subject?

It is laughable he talks about the rule of law. The last thing most dems and the dem prosecuters care about is the rule of law. I also cannot believe he spends his time watching trump raillies still. Talk about obsessed.

Trump wanted Pence to overturn the election. He said it out loud. No American should defend this.
Dems spend four years trying to overturn an election. No american should defend that but boy do the dems defend it. !!!!!! The little fact the left always likes to forget about. Again the only ones who obsess over Trump and 2020 are the far lefties. Come 2022 they will see nobody cares about 01/06 except them. They clearly are in such a bubble on this they really have no ideas how badly they are going to lose come November.

And Pence cannot overturn an election sending it back to the state legislatures is not overturning an elections.

That’s right. It’s not just the Dems; but they corrupted the FBI, the DOJ, the media, and the congressional investigative authority in doing so. All of them were willing accomplices, but it all started with the Democrat party machinery and the HRC campaign.

Corruption at it's very worst. The Cabal of Socialists had no concern, at all, for the integrity of the institutions, the loss of public confidence in those institutions, and the effect upon society as a whole by this corruption.

A lot of what Trump says is to just mess with the left or to set them off and boy did it work like a charm this weekend it appears. It is so easy to trigger the left proof positive by the poster who started this thread. Trump may not even run but just making the left think he would sets them off the deep end and it is comical to watch. Instead of focusing on real issues they are so committed to be angry at Trump 24/7 the eye is off the price which is the midterms. As long as they stay focused and obsessed with Trump repubs can destroy dems on the real issues that matter to people. So far it is working like a charm and I thank people like the poster who stay committed to hating Trump so we can concentrate on real issues like inflation and the border.

Holding the people charged without bail, and in piss poor conditions bothers me. Shooting and killing a rioter in cold blood and in violation of all use of deadly force protocols I know of without consequence bothers me. Government officials and media mobilizing Trump opposition to violate the basic rights of and to stigmatize Trump supporters, wherever they are, no matter what they dI’d, and over political beliefs, bothers me. A lot.

Save your phony January 6 and Trump outrage for those sycophants who find emotional comfort in yelling about Trump. Trump‘s rally is the bedrock of democracy. Any candidate can say what they want when they want. That is a sign of our strength. You wanting to criminalize it weakens democracy for all of us. Read what Milton said almost 300 years ago.

Presidential pardons have been issued for worse offenders and worse offenses. That said, Trump’s pardon comment was conditional, a point Bowl overlooked.

Screw infrastructure, health care, etc...Pwn the libs!!!

I believe Pence's role was to certify the ballot totals. It was within his role to refuse that certification. His choice was to certify fraudulent ballot totals.

His choice.

He owns it.

Yup, the fraudulent ballot totals so far have come from dead trumpers voting.

They're fraudulent cause you and your buddies tried to cheat.

Oh wait, you still believe Pillow Guy and Giuliani actually have proof of massive fraud. Gullible much? if they had it, they would have released it.

That's a lot of words there, friend, that don't mean anything.

But look on the bright side. You've got the resident Nazi sympathizer and anti-Semite liking your posts.

Those are old smears.....come up with something new...

Can a presidential pardon ever be considered contrary to what might be considered rules of law? The pardon power has been controversial from the outset. It can be argued it is more about power and political expediency than say correcting a judicial error.

In addition to pardoning those who broke the law on January 6th, as is the topic of this thread, what about Trump granting clemency to his close friends and advisers during his presidency (Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Stephen K. Bannon, and George Papadopoulos) ?

Except Biden has taken an oath to faithfully execute the laws. So have the Soros prosecutors. What if we have a POTUS who decides he or she don’t like inheritance taxes? Does that mean people don’t need to pay?
1. This thread began with comments about Trump opting not to enforce laws by granting pardons to his supporters.

2.. Then, you defended Trump by arguing that Trump's use of pardons is part of the rule of law.

3. Then, in your post immediately above (No. 41), you criticize Biden and prosecutors for not enforcing laws, even though (a) that's what Trump's pardons will do/have already done; and (b) Biden is not a prosecutor or DOJ attorney in the first place. Assuming you're a lawyer, you apparently forgot about the huge discretion given to prosecutors to decide which cases they want to prosecute.

Maybe you should give Biden and the current prosecutors the same latitude you're giving Trump and company. Or, you could just continue doing what you do.

Nope. We have immigration laws which Biden and Mayorkas dont enforce. The Border Patrol has effectively been prevented from doing their job.

Trump's inciteful language has never been protected as broadly as you're suggesting.

There have always been legal penalties in this country for such bad speech as libel/slander, fighting words, oral fraud and, of course, conspiracy and inciting a riot.

Be careful what Trump words you appear to be supporting. This week, he appears to be encouraging rioters to cause problems in the same locations where prosecutors or other authorities are investigating Trump. Surely, you don't think Trump just happened to pick those locations at random.

I think the Trump rallies over the next two years will be scary, not entertaining.

Normal Republicans are getting increasingly willing to criticize and challenge Trump, while his minions will become increasingly desperate to defend him and get their way.
