Hunter Biden on trial

Totally agree. I don't know if it's still on Netflix, but Echo In The Canyon is a fantastic documentary about all the groups living in Laurel Canyon in the 60s. Narrated by Bob Dylan's son, Jacob Dylan of the Wallflowers - a vastly underrated group themselves, imo.

Some amazing talent out of that time and place.

I caught this documentary too, Danc! Loved it. My mom listened to a lot of that jangly music when we were growing up and this took me back.

My three fav parts:

Jacob Dylan is interviewing David Crosby. Crosby is telling stories about people from back in the day. mentions Bob Dylan. Jacob is like, ya, my dad. Crosby's brain then stops and restarts right on camera. so great. 😂

Beck is in a few scenes and is in complete Zombie mode. yikes. I'm assuming he's at the point where a doctor travels with him and just prescribes everything as needed.

Neil Young at the end. very bad ass moment that made the 13 yr old me very happy.

I don't know exactly when it was made - maybe David was still on heroin.

What a shame he couldn't get along with the others. He must have been a real a-hole. I know he stood up for Jackson Browne when he was accused of hitting Daryl Hannah and that pissed of Neil Young, who is married to her lol I imagine drugs had a lot to do with that craziness.

I can only imagine the soap opera shit that was going on. there are probably some good books about it.

Another part I loved is when Jacob says he just thought it was normal that you'd pick up the house phone and the Prince of Wales would be asking for your dad. lol

Hunter will end up being Ambassador to France one day.

I was thinking Columbia or some other country known for their under the radar exports.

Just in case I was too obtuse and you didn't get my drift...

Biden will leave office with one of the lowest approval ratings ever. He's a complete disgrace.

I’d be shocked if old joe wasn’t pulling dough in those dirty deals hunter had cookin. Biden is the ultimate worthless lying through his teeth swamp rat. So dumb he picked a moron for vp who ushered in a parade of dei blinkards. Truly a worthless administration that anyone with an ounce of sense recognized. And whether he lied about pardoning hunter or not, which is comical now calling it politically motivated after the Trump prosecutions, I would do the same damn thing with hunter. That’s his boy. At 82 I bet he’d still walk through fire for him

Was recently watching Dr. Jeremi Suri give a speech (“America’s Civil War, Then and Now” - CSPAN3) wherein he argued for - among other things - dumping the Electoral College, and …. dumping the power of Presidential pardons, citing Biden’s ability to pardon Hunter as one example of a bad example of the power.

(He also thought Lee and most other Confederates should have been prosecuted, and that Grant should have arrested him, and complained about voter suppression and advocated for abortions for college girls who drunk-screw and get knocked up. He was especially hot about a guy who carried a Confederate flag into Congress on January 6.)

Hopefully you’re not too distraught to find out that your chosen leader has a different moral compass than you do, you ok?

I really don’t blame Joe for this. I’d probably do the same.

That said, I don’t wanna hear any more about “no one is above the law”.
I blame him. It looks awful. So if you’re the President’s son, you get to cheat on your taxes and lie on govt documents and carry around a loaded gun while wasted?

It’s horseshit. Bet Biden leaves Hunter an inheritance, too. Asshole.

Biden is absolutely horrible. Phony. Anyone who ever thought otherwise was just being partisan or dumb. Or both. Team trump is so much better. We know he’s awful and don’t presume otherwise. Most of us anyhoo

I guess you’re not inviting either to the Book Club.

I hate most pardons. I’ll be hammering Trump if he pardons himself or his kin as well

I don’t blame Biden in the slightest. I would pardon my son as well.
True. And Trump supporters simply do not occupy any moral high ground on this sort of thing. It’s comical to watch them act as if they do.

As for Pres. Biden, doing this comes at some cost to his legacy. And I’m sure he knows that. I’m also sure he doesn’t care. And he’s probably right not to.

That said, if they could each have trusted each other enough (fat chance), they probably should’ve traded pardons on January 20th - with Biden pardoning Trump in his last act as president and Trump pardoning Hunter with his first.

Had they done that, I honestly think it would’ve had some cathartic effect on the country.

I agree. I was hoping Trump would pardon Hunter if Biden didn’t.

No lawfare. Leave Jack Smith, Fauci, Schiff, Milley, Garland and the rest of them alone. They will meet their maker some day.

Seriously dude. You didn’t see this coming, from 5km away? This is part and parcel why Biden is awful.

My kids are being raised semi-affluent. The minute the Hunter behavior appears, they are cut the f##k off.

I'm more appreciative that Joe didn't give a f about the potential PR reaction, which is an attitude and mindset that I'd like to see Dems move more towards.

Jon Stewart did a good job making this strategic point which is basically Dems constantly step on their dicks because they are more overly concerned about ettique and their misplaced importance on historical political norms, whereas Republicans might like it, but don't really give a f about it so it doesn't get in their way of driving their government intentions.

Dems are focused and burdened by the long standing rules while Republicans will strategically focus on loopholes around those rules and don't give a f if it upsets anyone.

Ultimately you are judged by the results of your actions, not because you violated long standing historical norm.

Garland was an example of that difference. McConnell created a loophole around a long standing agreement and morm that made the Dems whine 'he's violating a longstanding agreement' to which he basically answered, 'I don't give a f#$k'.

Then when Ginsburg died he overroad his previous stated logic and the Dems cried again on how it was ethically dirty political hardball, to which McConnell again said 'I don't give a f#$k' and he got exactly what he wanted.

But also look at Obama's response. There were some suggesting to Obama to find and create a loophole around the standard norm, base it on a derelict of duty stance and have Garland force confirmed.

Obama wouldn't do that because he was too afraid of upsetting long standing historical political norms (I bet he didn't think Hillary would lose and was scared of his legacy if he overrode the process).

At the end of the day, it confirmed the loss of the justice seat. Repubs win again, Dems lose again.

So yeah, I'm actually kindof glad he likely doesn't give a f#$k what people think or if it will hurt his legacy. Again ultimately you are judged by the actual results generated from the actions taken, just like McConnell is seen as a very shrewd political strategic force, especially by the base that he's most concerned about.
