Is DeSantis the future President-for-Life?

And yet, Trump got many millions more votes than Obama.
... and millions fewer than (wait for it) Biden.

Trump is lucky he never ran against Obama. Obama's jokes about Trump at that press club event caused far less embarrassment to Trump than his little-boy ego would have suffered from losing to Obama in a landslide.

Quote of the decade from Trump: "Can you believe I lost to this guy (i.e. Biden)?"

The fact Trump was able to get so many more votes than one of the most popular Presidents of our time merits a 'so what' when Twenty says there's no way anyone was going to beat Obama in 2012?

It certainly shows if Republicans had run someone who was actually popular within the Republican Party, they could have drawn more votes.

You are struggling with your post.
It doesn't matter at all whether Trump truly "was able to get so many more votes than one of the most popular Presidents of our time" because he never ran against that President (Obama) -- instead, as you know, he ran only against Clinton and Biden. Biden beat Trump
by a significant margin.

Based on your premise, I dare you to deny and disprove that Donald Trump got more votes than George Washington ever did. Do you agree or disagree?

Hell, if Trump got more votes than George Washington, the Father of the Country, you must really think he's an amazing person.

Obama won over McCain and Romney - 2 guys who had very little support within the Republican Party and what support there was, was lukewarm.

Obama's was totally unqualified to be dog catcher, much less President. Why were his and Joe's college records sealed?

LOL Maya Rudolph hasn't been a regular on SNL for 15 years.

She's been back as host and she's been back at other times specifically to play Harris.

Some posters are uninformed. Some are idiots. Some are assholes. You've managed to hit the rare trifecta.

Once again, you drag out the strawman. I never said she didn't play Harris.

You are too easily triggered. Go share a fatty with Mr. Charlie - if he can stand to be around you.

What did you say then? Lol.

DeSantis has been touring the state of Florida for MONTHS, posing with big oversized checks that he is handing out as (his words) "DeSantas Claus" to communities. All of these come from the infrastructure Bill that Florida's GOP UNNANIMOUSLY opposed. Checks to build bridges, upgrade systems, etc.

He's taking credit, right and left, for passing out funds that he opposed.

Pretty blatant hypocrisy.

Sorry man. If you’re watching Meidas Touch videos you’re getting insane takes and hyper partisan bullshit. You can at ease with the pretense of being even remotely conservative if Meidas Touch is hitting your feed.

I want a centrist who will quietly guide the ship without crying he has a mandate or is going to be transformative and does his best to let local communities guide themselves. I also want him or her to turn down the dial on the culture wars. Republican or Democrat. The last three years have been awful
It’s not happening on either side. Demented Joe fit your desire. How’s that worked out?

I was swayed by the many VIDEO CLIPS of DeSantis. Are you claiming that the videos are doctored?
MeidasTouch is a liberal PAC that takes out-of-context content and stitche it together to make damning videos. They’re no better than project veritas or any of the super hacks on the right.

Just stop your pretense that you’re a conservative. Your feed outs you.

He’s giving out money to needy families from federal funds. And less than 10% of it. Deal with it.

You may be right, but it wasn't Trump that threatened this, it was ALL of his attackers. Just think of what we could have done, if only 15 % of his constant attackers would have worked WITH him. Wow it would have been an even better time than it was already.
Sorry dude. Signaling elections can’t be trusted ain’t something a good president says before it happens. Throwing tantrums after the fact ain’t something a good president does. He’s a disaster - and so is Biden - but don’t let Trump off the hook.

Trump would be backing Russia, 300K more Americans would be dead of COVID-19, the Dow would be at 25K, inflation at 20%, nationwide protests over a stolen election, and that wouldn't be the worst of it.

Can't get with you on this one.

He's not giving the money to everyone, just those that truly need it, meaning people have to qualify for assistance programs and are in need.

He's also suspending the Florida gas tax, something I wish Indiana would do. He's not doing it until October though because tourism will be slow, which makes sense.

He's giving money to the right people in this instance, those who truly need it.

Aside from your juvenile name-calling, I'm thankful every day that Trump is out of power. We'll survive Biden, doubt our democracy would have survived Trump.
[Unfortunately needed disclaimer: I don't like Trump as a person and never voted for him. I, too, am glad he is no longer President.]

Question: Why do you say you "doubt out democracy would have survived Trump?" Didn't it actually survive him?
Follow up question: If you think he would have ended democracy in the United States, would you have used physical violence to oppose a second term if he had legitimately won? Would it be reasonable for others to have done so?

This kind of rhetoric--that the election of so-and-so will end democracy--is used by both sides (I remember well the predictions regarding Obama's potential election) and unhelpful. We have strong institutions in this country--as proven the last 4 years. Each use of hyperbole and exaggeration, though, chips away at public trust a little bit at a time. Do it enough, and eventually, our institutions won't be able to protect us from a true threat.

Our democracy--the people voting for representatives who will make policy--can survive a Trump. It could survive a Bernie Sanders or a Harris or AOC or DeSantis or Pence or Don Jr. We have a military that still believes in civilian control, a Court system that does not kow tow to the politicians, and a division of power between the legislative and executive that still works pretty strongly when opposing parties are in power of each, along with a system of federalism that can check and slow down any radical change in the federal system.

In my opinion, what our democracy "can't survive" is constantly demonizing our fellow countrymen, a lack of trust, and a constant drumbeat of illegitimacy by both sides of any policy or govt. actor who implements something one doesn't like.
