"AD remains believer in job Miller's doing"

I am pretty sure there have been 50 better shooters than Johnson in IU history . Not sure that all factors in by just 3 point as it wasn't there. Look at Kitchell and Wittman in 83 in the big 10 when it used it at 23-9 I believe it was. Regardless he was inconsistent at best. I didn't see how many Steve made his sr yr but he shot 53% from 3 playing 37 minutes a game. Kind of makes one long for those days a bit.

More obscure but better shooters, Kreigh Smith,Jeff Oliphant . I think Mike Lewis was better . Bracey Wright was better, Lyndon Jones tailed off but was a better shooter . Joe Hillman

Steve Alford, Jay Edwards, Pat Graham, Greg Graham, Randy Wittman, Ted Kitchel, Tom Coverdale, Kyle Hornsby, Brian Evans, AJ Guyton, Damon Bailey, James Blackmon Jr. to name a few.

I don’t have time to run through all of them, but Coverdale wasn’t. He made fewer 3s and shot a lower percentage. I agree on Alford, Guyton, Bailey, JBJ, Evans, and Yogi.

I don't look at it strictly numbers or three's, jump shooters though. I'd take Coverdale in the clutch over Johnson,Keith Smart was pretty clutch. Johnson was a guard, made some shots , he was an OK player but not memorable going forward.

He was a really good shooter. He shot 38.9% for his career from 3s. His sophomore year ( the best team he played on and when he was more of a role player..aka got more opens looks) he shot 44.7% from 3s. He is 4th all time in made 3s behind Guyton, Hulls, and Yogi. The one obvious caveat is the 3 point line didn't always exist. (For example, Alford made over 100 his senior year and shot over 50% from 3s.I assume he was the best shooter in IU history? ) I would be really surprised if there were 50 better shooters in IU history, than Robert Johnson.

Edit: If my numbers are off, look them up yourself:)

Thanks but I don't care enough to look them up! :)

Of course I wanted fpeaugh to back up his claim with facts but he never does so why would I think he would this time:rolleyes:

No worries. I was actually just curious to see what names people came up with from the 60s, 70s, and 80's. I wasn't around for most of those years and don't know who the great shooters were besides the obvious ones. Where is a really old man at when you need one @Bulk VanderHuge or @tazmanian devil ?

Not sure how the compare % wise, but Marshall Strickland and Robert Vaden in my opinion were better "shooters" than Robert Johnson. Matt Roth is a name I haven't seen listed nor Ziesloft. Christian Watford has to be up there as well.

Robert Johnson was a good shooter in Creans system not so much under Archie.

Not so sure it’s system as it is role. Guys like Yogi and JBJ drew the best defenders during his first 3 years and he was good set shooter, especially in transition. RJ drew the best defender each night as a senior and really struggled to create his own shot, especially on the perimeter. Didn’t help that the starting front court was 6’6 and 6’7 (thanks Crean) and PG play was extremely poor.

Newkirk was the worst IU starting PG that I ever watched in an IU uniform. There was a stretch where Robert Johnson could not throw the ball in the ocean as an upperclassman. From what I remember in big games, Robert regressed after a promising Sophomore season. What games were you watching? And both turned the ball over carelessly. Verdell was a much better overall player than Newkirk was, at least he could shoot.
Maybe Verdell as a Junior and Senior, but Senior Newkirk was far better than freshman Verdell. Not even close. We struggled to even get the ball up the court that year. I’d also put Newkirk above freshman Yogi and I’m probably Yogi’s biggest fan and defender on here. Newkirk would’ve started for half the teams in the Big Ten that year.

And RJ is #4 all time in 3 pointers made and was honorable mention all conference. That puts him in the top 20 in the league. That’s no role player.

I replied to Moops, TMP replies to me with his ignorance trying to call me out, so I explained my original post.

This is very basic kid. I don’t know how to dumb it down for you any more.
You should smart it up, but of course you can't do that.

PG was poor.

Yogi made a lot of other players look good his Sr year. His departure caused a vacuum we've yet to fill. I'm hoping for a solid soph year from Phinisee but it's unfair to think he'll ever be as good as Yogi. Yogi was quick with a great handle, and great shot, and yet built like a fullback.

A fun game to play after ignoring trolls is to guess which ignored troll others are talking to. I've got 10 blocked and the two most stupid of the trolls are DumbMary and feepaw. Since you said you're ignoring Mary it must be feepaw. Am I right?.
When I was young we would visit my Great Uncle. The TV was only on for the national and local news and he who would mute commercials because they were so stupid. As we were watching commercials in silence he would continually ask us what they were talking about. It was really irritating and amusing at the same time.

Phinisee has the ability to be a very good PG at IU!

That is true. Your posts are the very definition of the word dumb and could not possibly be made dumber.
