When was American great? I’ll show you...
do you see a common theme here? Not exactly representative of the America we live in or used to live in. It does probably represent the America that Trump wishes America to be.

She definitely is not a Trumper. So your sister is an undesirable?
Please tell at least she's not one of the Deplorables.
All that said, voting for Trump, a guy with a history of veiled and nearly overt racist behavior, is sure to piss off many people. It does not make you a racist, obviously, but I would hope you can see why frequent victims of racism aren’t too happy. Or no?
Of course hyper-patriots are are unhappy about Cuomo's statement, but who on the left is? There's nothing new or radical, let alone shocking about the concept. Its not my question. Its a question asked in an article in the Washington Free Beacon August 15.
BTW, a lot of folks including some libs are unhappy about Cuomo's statement and he is trying to dismount from that tiger himself right now.
So, he made a crap statement indicating his own feelings about the nation. He's one of the faces of the Dem's Party and trying to run for President. You libs here would defend anything your leaders do. Anything has no boundary in that view - ANYTHING is ok for a lib to do.
Well I never voted for either candidate but I do like a few of Trump's ideas but he too much of a reactionary to be president. I'm always afraid of what he's gonna do next without engaging his brain. I think he can do a lot of damage to America's position in the world by simply withdrawing from agreements that previous presidents have made. Just think if you're the opposition and every president done that.... Nobody would ever trust that America would live up to their agreements.I have to fess up to voting for Trump as president. Voted for Kasich in primary.
Our founders knew that America would evolve so they set up a system where we can amend the constitution and pass laws. We had a civil war that was basically about slavery. BTW, from 1776 to 1865 is not even a 100 yrs. We had slavery the least amount as a country compared to other nations. You and I would probably believe Jim Crow laws were a bad idea. It kept the country divided on racial lines. I do think that things are better now then they were in the past. Black unemployment is dropping. This means blacks are participating in this growing economy. And the truth is most blacks hate illegals flooding into this country. If you are black an are trying to move up in this economy you have to start somewhere at the bottom. The illegals coming in are driving wages down in entry level jobs. If you are black you aren't going to like that, and it has nothing to do with racism. It's about opportunity. I don't know how you can say only white men have had it good. Every time a group comes into this country they start at the bottom. The Irish,Germans,Italians, and other white people had to start at the bottom too. It's the price of freedom. You come here and get to work. With the sweat of your brow you and your family has a chance at a better life. He’s right, it’s never been great for everyone. The only people America has consistently been great for is white males. Just about everyone else has been kicked around at one time or another.
Perhaps this is why Trump’s supporters are mostly white males.
No one on the left is disturbed by Cuomo's statement? Do you mean that?Of course hyper-patriots are are unhappy about Cuomo's statement, but who on the left is? There's nothing new or radical, let alone shocking about the concept.
Take for instance the women's vote. Most of the world didn't have women vote in elections if they had them. But because of political and societal evolution our constitution made a way for the people to vote it in. And that is what we did. We also voted to make Liquor illegal. But then we changed our mind and repealed the 18th amendment with the 21st. See, our system works.
I'm asking who.No one on the left is disturbed by Cuomo's statement? Do you mean that?
It was stupid to say. What you say is, America has never been as great as it could have been, if only at some point racism, marginalization of women, and lack of compassion for the downtrodden had all been relegated to the dustbin of history. No one on the left is disturbed by Cuomo's statement? Do you mean that?
2020 is a long way away, but I currently have my eye on Kirsten Gillibrand. There will be lots of options, though. I'll make decisions when I have to.I'm curious....who do you see for 2020 emerging from the Dem side? And do you have someone you are pulling for yet?
2020 is a long way away, but I currently have my eye on Kirsten Gillibrand. There will be lots of options, though. I'll make decisions when I have to.
Gillibrand is easy to keep an eye on, because out of all the potentials, she's the one that is most obviously, definitely, without a doubt, running. She's been working on her 2020 campaign since at least November 9, 2016.2020 is a long way away, but I currently have my eye on Kirsten Gillibrand. There will be lots of options, though. I'll make decisions when I have to.
Speaking as just one Democrat, Biden isn't in keeping with the times. I think he'd get slaughtered, and since I think he'd think that, I think he won't run.I expect the Dems will nominate a woman....unless Biden runs.
I love The Onion.Speaking as just one Democrat, Biden isn't in keeping with the times. I think he'd get slaughtered, and since I think he'd think that, I think he won't run.
That said, I loves me some Joe Biden.
I can't decide. Those are both fabulous. The Onion hit Joe Biden out of the park every single time it touched him. And I still like Joe Biden. Just like I think The Onion does.
I suspect Joe himself would laugh at each of those articles.I can't decide. Those are both fabulous. The Onion hit Joe Biden out of the park every single time it touched him. And I still like Joe Biden. Just like I think The Onion does.
/frantically learning who Steve Bullock isIt'll be a wide open race.....going to be a huge field.

Well, since Trump has donated $64,000 to Cuomo’s campaigns, he must be a fan.
Como himself likely regrets what he said. Hell, it made Stephen Colbert cringe. Not a good soundbite at all.I'm asking who.
Can neither one of you spell "slight"? Jeez. What scholars. It’s not a sleight it’s reality. If only property owners could vote, you just took 90% of the military out of it and 98% of city dwellers.
Not sure what you mean by uneducated, but I’d hypothesize that the average education of a renter is on par with or exceeding that of property owners.
Well, which Cuomo statement do you agree with now that he's reversed himself 180 degrees. Yesterday you agreed with him and defended his position - some of you, but no leftis condemned him. Today? You'll agree with him also because he's a leftie and lefties agree with anything their comrades do.It was stupid to say. What you say is, America has never been as great as it could have been, if only at some point racism, marginalization of women, and lack of compassion for the downtrodden had all been relegated to the dustbin of history.
But that's a mouthful, not a soundbite.

from the article,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"An alternative strategy for those who most fear a Bernie Sanders nomination would be to lend support to a noncentrist candidate who represents something to the right of democratic socialism. The most obvious possibilities include those like Booker and Gillibrand who may be tacking left but who have spent some time in party circles where the current progressive wave has aroused at best mixed enthusiasm. Another option would be to give Warren another long look. She is, after all, closely associated with the “New Brandeis” movement of antitrust activists who prefer reforming capitalism to restore its competitive elements to any socialistic reliance on government in areas beyond basic public services".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
those who fear Bernie the most, would be big healthcare and Wall St.
as for Warren being an "antitrust activist", that would put her in the cross hairs of Comcast and AT&T (MSNBC, NBC, CNBC, CNN), who's entire business models are dependent on being unregulated monopolies, duopolies, and in a few cases oligopolies, who both used their ownership of cable news to fight Bernie with all their might in favor of on the take Hilary, once Bernie looked like an actual threat. (i thought Chris Mathews was going to start wearing a "vote Hilary-screw Bernie" button during his show).
same with big healthcare, which also is a de facto monopoly in practice.
as for "democratic socialism", that's what we've all had in the US our entire lives.
politicians want to define 12 yrs of public supported school as pure democracy, and 13 yrs of it as pure communism.
i would love to see Bernie define and put some parameters on his free college thing to make his candidacy more viable, but don't fail to see the hypocrisy in labeling govt funded advanced education as socialistic or communistic, while not with 12 grades of it.
as for healthcare coverage that is doled out by your employer, is that capitalist socialism?
on a side note, what is a "centrist".
to me, a "centrist" defines someone incapable of thinking or decision making for themselves, so they split the difference of those doing the thinking for them.
Thank you, guy named Stuffshot. I will be more vigilant over my iOS autocorrects. Can neither one of you spell "slight"? Jeez. What scholars.
A centrist means that you generally like where things are.....and don't desire drastic changes in either direction. You also prefer bipartisan compromises to large issues...rather than partisan cram downs. For me...it also means setting tax policy that comes close to covering the bill for your spending policy. The current regime has failed laughably at that last point.
Turn it off. You're smarter than your phone.Thank you, guy named Stuffshot. I will be more vigilant over my iOS autocorrects.
sorry, that's not what "centrist" means.
it means exactly what i said it means above.
embracing status quo and bi partisanship may be a side effect of splitting the difference between other's views, but it isn't the same as.
Don’t have a clue what he said. I’d read his posts if he didn’t post like a grammar challenged teenage bonehead twit on Twitter. Andrew Cuomo Backpedals: ‘America Has Always Been Great’

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo walked back his claim that the United States “was never that great” in a Friday conference call, describing the comments as “inartful” and asserting that he believes the opposite of what he said.
The embattled New York state Governor has faced mass public backlash after deriding President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” message. “We’re not going to make America great again,” he said during a speech in New York City. “It was never that great.”
“The expression I used the other day was inartful, so I want to be very clear,” Cuomo told press on Friday’s call. “Of course America is great, and of course America has always been great.”
Cuomo seemed to become flustered when CBS News political reporter Grace Segers asked him about Trump daring him to make a run at the oval office in 2020. “Let me catch my breath for a minute before you goad me with your question,” he said, eventually admitting that he has “no plans to run for president.”
Still, he had strong words for the commander-in-chief. Cuomo called Trump “vindictive and petty and small,” declaring “as governor of New York, I believe it’s my role to point out and fight this president and fight his agenda. It hurts New Yorkers,”
“He wants to put his personal values above the law of the land,” he concluded. “We didn’t elect a king, we elected a president. And he has to get his ego in check and remember he was an elected servant of the people.”
Knew it was a waste to even reply to you.

I consider the ignore function sort of cowardly. I like to actively ignore instead. You guys should really try out the ignore function. My online time is so much more enjoyable since implementing it.
I used to feel the same way. Exactly. Thought it was cowardly. But now I realize it's just convenient. These are people I wanted to ignore anyway, so now rivals does it for me.I consider the ignore function sort of cowardly. I like to actively ignore instead.
