Poll: May or DeVries?

While we and our new HC watch in the shadows, who would you rather have as the IU HC? Dusty May or DeVries?

There were rumors on here that we tried to lock Dusty last year but I’m curious if Dolson actually tried to hire DeVries. Just more speculation that doesn’t matter as we watch the NCAAT.

Two years ago when he was still at FAU and going to the FF, he told someone very close to him that I know that he would not consider the IU job. You people need to get over it. I’m more than willing to give DD a chance, but if IU offered May $2M more than UM, he would have took it.

Should have hired May after his final 4 run. IU screwed up huge. Dusty a sweet 16 in his first season. IU hasn’t been in 10-12 years. IU may really regret this

If we fired Woody after year 3 and then gave Dusty twice the NIL and more money we would've had bad PR, as you can see by the coaching search, that was never an option. IU in its current iteration has the perfect coach. I really hope Coach DeVries is still on the rise to greatness and he reaches it at IU. It would be cool to see young Hoosier Nation have their guy.

He was talking to Louisville but I don’t think he was serious about going there. He was actually very happy in Boca and could have stayed there. He said it was pretty easy to recruit players to south Florida. The UM offer was just too good to turn down.

He went to IU and grew up a stone's throw from Bloomington. I have a hard time believing he would have picked UM over IU. IU's management made a decision to run it back with Woody, and UM was looking for a coach.

Perhaps that Indiana was a basketball state and IU was a basketball school had a lot to do with it. Could you honestly see Knight taking a backseat to OSU football?

I think the timing was bad for Ohio St. Fred Taylor was at the end of his career and didn't retire until 1976 or so. By that point, RMK was rolling big time at IU.

He thought UM had a higher ceiling than IU. He knew that the UM program had surpassed IU, had more tournament success in the last 20 years and IU is running on fumes. IU is his alma mater but he knew the program was nothing like when he was here and Michigan offers better upside.
