The truth about Steve Alford

With them you have to worry about international incidents and getting POTUS involved.

I must say I was never a fan of college sons playing for their coach/father. That was true of McGuire, RMK, Alford etc,. A father cannot be completely objective in this case. I remember McGuire talking about a back up guard complaint Augie was getting more playing time. McGuiretold him yeah but I love Augie. I don’t think it’s right.

2 things:

1.) I asked a question for his opinion, not because I don't have my own.
2.) Alford was mediocre at Iowa. Fran has been as good. Buzz Williams did as well as Crean at Marquette. So the question is, why would Alford do better at IU than Iowa? Recruiting advantages only last if you win. Winning in the Big Ten is not easy.
Um, because Iowa is a shithole for basketball compared to IU.

Doesn't take a genius to figure it out, but a real moron not to acknowledge it.

There are many differences between Alford at IU vs Alford at Iowa or UCLA. You have to use reason rather than just extrapolating Iowa or UCLA To IU. Seems self evident to me.

He has done better than IU has done since 2002 reaching final sixteen four times. Since Wooden retired UCLA has had nine coaches so something of a revolving door and average tenure of 5 years and he was right at 5 years. If I w

wrong again. If you look at track times you will find an American car besting the Germans also...and Japan? Are you speaking of the grr. Can’t be the new Supra. You are living in the millennial bs times.
dude, i'm old and it is lexus and toyota and that is it. german also have great. quality luxury and expensive to maintain engineering. american cars are cheap trash. stick to the pick ups. americans made the best cars in the 60's. that is it. you know it cause your old, too.

for the talent alford had, sweet 16 as his best is not good enough

I like Lexus and Toyota but the conversation started with Lamboand that is a different kettle of fish.

UCLA is in many ways a s$*&thole for basketball coaches. If you coach there you must recruit the highly rated bling players whether they give a s$&t or not.

Look at Lonzo Ball as an example. The Lakers (and Lebron) would be overjoyed to get rid of him. Overated and entitled and worse in college than the NBA.

but for players of that type Zion Williamson is at the end of the positive scale. What a player and a good person. He seems too good to be true but he is true.

How do you figure? Outside of in state talent the facilities aren't any better in Bloomington, and it is certainly no better of a college town than IC.
If you think it is you have never been to Iowa City.

I am guessing it is the latter. As an IU fan living in Iowa, I must say IU has the most arrogant fans outside of the Nebraska football fans. And they both have one thing in common, they are living in the past. They can't face the reality that others have caught up to them and even passed them as far as results on the court and football field. Because IU has them dusty old banners hanging. Below is a list of IU vs lowly Iowa. IU leads the series since 1949/ 50 season 67 to 58. Not exactly the one-sided results many of the chest pumping IU fans claim.

Why are we talking about Alford? IU is not searching for a coach and I seriously doubt Alford would ever get the job if they were. Move on.

It's the same troll using multiple accounts, having a 'discussion' with himself.

Maybe Steve contracted a Russian troll farm.

Thanks for making my point people don't like Alford cause he's a Christian, he's arrogant, parts his hair in the middle, is white from Indiana.

Has nothing to do with being a Christian, nor did I say that. It has to do with being a holier than thou jerk.

How do you figure? Outside of in state talent the facilities aren't any better in Bloomington, and it is certainly no better of a college town than IC.
If you think it is you have never been to Iowa City.
I've been there. It's alright.

But there's a whole lot of difference between recruiting at IU and at Iowa. Iowa has neither the tradition or the facilities - AH is far better than Hawkeye Arena. Iowa is just nowhere near IU in terms of attractiveness to recruits.

A guy said that he didn't think IU would be much better in Archies 2nd year, your reply "can I buy some pot from you". You know nothing dude, you are completely clueless.
You don't think that I U is better this year than last year? Have you not seen the teams we have beaten this year, and the teams that we did not lose to this year versus last year. Talk about being clueless. Take your ball and go home dumbass!

Take your ball and go home dumbass!

He kind of has...except that he is reading here right now, according to his profile, and has been here much of the time since IU won on Saturday, much to his chagrin. Now, that's not to say he isn't using his multiple sock puppets to post, but victimbear has been noticeable in his absence...but not missed.

I have been watching a lot of inaccurate verbage or poorly thought out arguments being posted about Alford on this board. Here are some real facts. Steve is one of only 9 coaches to reach Sweet Sixteen 3 times in last 5 years. Steve did struggle this season with 4 players out due to injury 3 that we're projected starters. Very few players have ever left a Steve Alford coached team early except to go to NBA. He will own recruiting in Indiana if he coaches here. Many people who know Steve well would tell you he is not this bad person he has been made out to be by Iowa and UCLA trolls.
Steverino, come on home!

Don’t forget those sweet sixteens were at major conferences, except for SWMO. Sean Miller has done no better than Alford and that’s a fact. Alford has also not been on a FBI wire tap.
Sean miller has been farther in the ncaa tournament than Alford 4 times....and alford has been a d1 head coach for almost a decade longer. People butcher miller for not making a final four, yet hes made it a round farther than Alford ever has on 4 occasions. Hell, you could make the argument that miller did more at xavier alone than Alford has in his whole career. Stop posting.
Yeah but Alford didn’t cheat!!
