Regardless of who you voted for in November, how is THIS a good idea?

Agree. That is the world most of us live in. Two things can be true. I'm sure there has been fraud and mismanagement going on. Put a stop too it. I'm sure some good has come from USAID as well.

As Crazy said earlier, I'm betting both sides abused the lack of transparency. But in DBMs simple world, only Democrats cheat.
Guys like DBM dont realize they are being used by the very deep state they claim to be against.

And yep. I'm all for cutting waste and finding fraud. I think if folks are found to have been purposely defrauding our country they should possibly face prison time. But I also don't want my kids special education IEP help to but cut by Indiana because "The department of Education is full of fraud!" makes for a cool headline.

He’s the richest guy in the world, the biggest government contractor, Trump’s biggest donor. Yet he’ll have actual accountability from within the administration? What are you smoking?
But wasn't he a democrat donor and didn't he receive most of his government contracts from Democrats? Also pretty sure that he is not making final decisions that he is just making suggestions. He doesn't obviously have the authority.

Any suv or truck with an msrp over $80k is not eligible, nor is any car over $55k. Vehicle must be produced in NA. Also if combined household income is over $300k you are not eligible.
The made in North America part was a change in the last few years. Another benefit to Mr Subsidy who is now looking at who receives subsidies.

The Atlantic aren't real people. I don't know any real life people that are "outraged" by the possibility of cutting waste and rooting out fraud. I also haven't seen anything but catchy headlines about their being fraud. Michael Shellenbergers tweet included. Unless I'm missing a link in there that outlines the fraud.

This is correct. I haven't seen anything that constitutes fraud. Ridiculous and wasteful? Yes. Fraudulent? No.

More than anything, I'm intrigued by the freakout. I understand that they're trying to stir up political outrage. That's normal and to be expected. But people don't usually act the way they are when something is brought to light unless they really don't want it brought to light.

About 7 or 8 years ago, we put GPS trackers on all of our trucks (most of which are take-home trucks). I'd say that about 90% of our drivers shrugged their shoulders. But the other 10% didn't take kindly to it. A couple even quit -- saying that they were horrified we didn't trust them.

How else was I supposed to read their reactions?

If USAID funds are being doled out to the friends, donors, and countrymen of our political class by way of NGOs, I’m sure it’s a bipartisan affair.

As if on cue on the bipartisan thing. They've come across an entity that has Republican Senators as board members which received $130M. And this entity disbursed funds to other NGOs called the "International Organization for Migration" and the "Pan American Development Foundation."

Do I think this is anything fraudulent or corrupt? No, I don't. Is it good that we're getting some light shone on these expenditures? Yes, it is.

You’re showing your bias. We don’t even know who was running the country during Biden’s tenure. Lied about Biden’s condition. Over and over again. So long they effectively disenfranchised joe public voter by coronating Harris. Biden lied repeatedly about inflation. Harris and Biden lied about the border. Lied about abortion. There isn’t an issue the Dems didn’t lie through their teeth about. From the smallest with all that goofy waltz’s to the very most pressing and important to the public. Open your eyes. This entire batch of politicians the last 8 years has been awful
You’re talking to Hickory

It’s bipartisan for sure. You have nailed it and that lady has put it out there for all to see.

People are screaming about Musk because the media and these politicians are getting really uncomfortable.

There has been enough exposed that Graham is done. Nancy Mace will primary him based on this information alone. Assuming they don’t place her name on one of these boards as well

Craze, as you say Congress holds the purse strings but has done a horrible job.

In other words, the founders and their constitution along with checks and balances needs an overhaul.

Replace all this complicated constitutional stuff with an Executive branch run by an elected president and unelected oligarchs who serve without Congressional approval.

Heck, it might work. Toss out term limits for the president while we are at it. Just replace the Constitutional Amendments with a process of amending the Constitution with Executive Orders.
I believe strongly in the constitution and the balance of power. With that said I used to think the people were the wink link in this Democracy. However this past election proved they were the strongest link. They demanded change and got exactly what they asked for. Now my person lost this time and I need to figure out how best to understand my disconnect with the majority and that’s on me. Regardless the elected officials whether it’s the president or congress should still follow the law and not circumvent it. If the people choose to continue showing their strength they will kick out useless Senators and congressmen. I happen to think they prefer a balanced approach amongst the parties but I guess we will see. Long live the power of the people regardless of their political affiliation.

A lot of people like to talk about Trump being a grifter, but at least his “grifts” require willing participants. DEI is the biggest grift of the American people in my lifetime, & quite possibly in the history of our country when it’s all said & done.
Well intentioned programs, that have been around for decades and are just now catchy easy to remember boogy men for you, are not the cause of fraud. Nor are they a grift.

Greedy people abusing loopholes in our systems are the cause and who need to be rooted out. Then close the loopholes.

If it's a subsidy, isn't that a part of a spending bill passed by Congress, that is public? I think Musk could find that info rather easily.
