There was nothing lazy about Mullins recruitment.
Mike, nice story...thanks.
Two questions: why didn't Woody show up on the first day like Hurley and all the other head coaches? Considering facts like Carmel is just up the road for Woody and it was Braylon's national "Welcome to The Big Time" party.
Secondly, did Woody stick around for Braylon's game on the second day? Rumor is he did not.
If either is true, still shows Woody feels like he has an above it all attitude and high caliber recruits can either accept his hard sell or Woody's time is just too valuable to waste on them. Woody does not have that luxury. Perception is everything.
This is Braylon Mullins. He is a MUST get and IUBB has now gone from "leans IU" in his recruitment to now, "wide open". After last year's recruiting implosion, the first day was mandatory. Sending Coach Ya there on first day to watch when Hurley and all the other head coaches trying to poach Mullins out of Indiana = what?
IMO, Braylon is the perfect domino as an ambassador to get all the other bigtime recruits IU is seeking. He's the piece to surround in the elusive chase for #6. As a head coach, you are either all in or you or not. No matter the reason, NOT a good look. Which is disappointing. And, why you don't question IUBB fans' loyalty with "I did my job!" and "true fans" comments on Senior Day. We are paying attention NOW.
