I do think it was too long. An hour would be plenty. With the pomp and circumstance before and after, everyone could be in and out in about two hours.

Time. It was average by word count. But he delivered it slowly and some of the breaks were quite long.

Dude is 37. Give him time. I'm just saying he is better than I expected. He's got some gravitas - or at least what passes for gravitas at that age - and he had a good speechwriting team tonight, which always helps. I wasn't expecting much of anything, and we got a lot more than that. Was it JFK? Gods, no. But it was pretty solid for a SOTU response speech.
Trump never said he would pick on group of Americans to fight for against another group of Americans. Do you fault that?
