The shaft argument doesn't mean anything to me. I know several people who had their houses taken for I69 (I live right next to it, my kids went to school with several families impacted). They did not want to leave, but had to. Every time the defense department chooses a weapons system, investors in a different system lose.
Heck, I paid off my PLUS loan when COVID started. I don't feel cheated some people waited and get an advantage. Good for them. It is like I don't care if coworkers get raises, good for them. If you win the lottery, good for you. I don't need to feel jealous.
That said, there are other good reasons to oppose the plan. It does not tackle the real problem, it skips the role of Congress in our system, and it costs money that may be better spent elsewhere (public education would be a better choice). But jealousy someone gets help doesn't work for me.
