Mike Greenburg was complaining about IU being ranked ahead of Alabama

FSU getting left out of 4 team playoff last year is one thing.

Especially when someone like BYU and/Boise St gets in.
If IU plays Ohio State tough but loses and misses out on the B1G title game....I think IU 100% gets in if Ohio State wins the B1G title. OSU would then likely be the 1 or 2 seed and if our only loss is a close game AT the shoe....nah.

Now what would get hairy is if we lost to Ohio State but somehow still made it to the B1G title and played them again....and lost again. We'd have 2 losses and possibly no ranked wins so I could see them holding that against us.

Harris vs. Trump 2024

Again. "likely voters" excludes all first time voters, and by many different accounts there is the greatest bump in first time registrations in history, especially in the left leaning under 30 demographic.

They might show up or they might not, but the likely voters survey assumes with certainty that none of them will. It is potentially a significant baked in error above and beyond the statistical survey margin of error.

Purposeful learning and have the ability to learn fast. You’re doing a products case you need to understand engineering. Med mal medical procedures. Enviro tort like rfk Jr contamination or whatever the geo shit and the medical on the fly. For someone with a broad tort practice it’s a lot and you have to be able to learn things and understand them fast under adversarial conditions
There's a limitation there, too: you're learning to teach, not learning to "do." You want to learn it well enough to then teach it in a way to the decision maker--judge or jury--that it colors it towards your preferred outcome. But you don't need to learn it in a way to actually perform whatever task it is.

My impression of the rankings is that OSU/Oregon/Georgia/Texas are the clear top 4 then things get real squishy for the next 10-12 spots. I think you can make a reasonable case for PSU at 5 because the next in line would be Miami/Tenn/LSU that have their own major question marks. PSU is Still likely very good, but have done nothing to be mixed in with the that top 4. Overall, I think there is a surprising level of parity in the top 20
I think LSU is hardly a top 25 team too. USC beat them and they are 1-4 in the B1G. Tennessee and Miami would work Penn State sideways. They are trash. IU would beat them by 14+

Anyone actually think we'll get Mullins?

I do think something that feels like it often might be overlooked is the "cache" of being a former IU player from IN. It can open doors for you far beyond college and bball, and is a great advantage that many, many players have taken advantage of over the years. He may be a multi-year all-star, but it can be a really huge advantage that I just don't believe is likely to come to you as a UConn player.
It is tough to have all these natural advantages and still lose him (if that’s the case).

It hurts but let’s be honest, UConn is a few levels of basketball above us right now.

any examples to back that up? will you be recognized around the state of Indiana? sure. Will you have a better chance of getting a job with Cook? probably, at the end of the day you will still have to go out and enter the working world and produce. if he is a multiyear all-star, he will probably make about 300 million the next 15 years. and only step foot in the state of Indiana once or twice a year.

Harris vs. Trump 2024

First off Trump wasn't on the ballot. Was a completely different election as there are many Trump only voters.

Yes, I thought there would be a red wave. But, started to get nervous at the end when people like Baris and Scott Pressler said to hit the breaks. Baris had R+3 in his final Congressional poll and it ended up being R+2.8. Pretty accurate and Rs definitely outperformed Dems it just didn't translate to the key races. This time though he has Trump+4 in PA and +3.5 in MI.

Also the impact of the Dobbs decision has fallen dramatically. Many dupes originally believed it outlawed abortion nation wide. It's not even a top 4 issue this election as Trump has handled it masterfully.

We also now have Whatley and Lara running the RNC. Mittens niece was intentionally sabotaging the party. So much has changed and never compare a midterm to a Presidential.
You've explained why the result this year would be different than in 2022. I agree that different factors are in play.

But that's not the issue. The issue is your own subjective certainty. You were wrong before, despite the fact you thought you had all the data. You've shown a tendency to overpredict the probability of an outcome based on your desire for that outcome (a very human trait). The same thing might be going on now with you (and your sources).

Do you acknowledge that possibility?

Harris vs. Trump 2024

And the early numbers out of NC, GA, AZ, NV, etc have been disastrous for Dems. PA looking excellent.

I wouldn't say that Trump has NC, GA, and AZ in his bag. But I might say that those states are his to lose. The AJC came out with their final GA poll today and it had Trump +4. Their final poll in 2020 had Biden +1 -- which turned out to be on the nuts.

NV looks like a tossup. There aren't too many scenarios where it will matter, but there are some.

As for PA, I wouldn't read too much into early voting data. And a great example of that is 2020 -- which, of course, was smack dab in the middle of Covid. Dems had an advantage of almost 1.1M returned mail-in ballots. But the final margin in the state was only about 80K. There have been far fewer mail-in ballots requested/returned so far this year...but we're also not in the middle of a pandemic.

It's tempting to say that the lower number of ballots requested, which translates into a smaller lead for Dems, means that Harris is lagging Biden in the state. But I don't think we can make that assumption.

Thumb Update Good news

I just looked at our schedule. 3 games before we hit a bye week. Of those three games, two are in Bloomington. Wash and UM in Btown and MSU on the road.
Then bye week and a close at OSU and home with PU.
We would all be guessing, but worst case with the first three, I think, would be 1-2. We would be 8-2 with 2 games left.
If we go 2-1 over this upcoming threesome we are 9-1.
We are asking a lot of a back up QB who does not get first team reps.
Some of those great throws and catches we were making may not be present now. A few Tayven runs may help. D making turnovers would help. Everyone has to step up. Time will tell, but if I were a defense player, I want to help by pitching a shutout.

Four-star 2026 LB visit reaction

Caught up with 2026 Ohio four-star Cam Thomas after his visit to IU this weekend. The Hoosiers made a big impression on him.

"The buzz around the program is clear," Thomas said. "The fanbase seems very passionate about having a winning program. My tweets have been going crazy with replies and messages from the IU fanbase. I appreciate the love. Also they made sure I was taken care of while on the visit, my chaperones were great and I was able to meet with the coaching staff before and after the game."

The staff made it very clear to Thomas that he's a top priority for the 2026 class. He speaks often with the linebackers coaches and they constantly preach how he'll be utilized early if he picked them. Thomas definitely has IU on the short list of potential official visits this spring/summer. He'd like to be committed this summer or sooner.

It’s broken…

Just the nail. He will be back very soon. Moved up to questionable for Saturday. Depending how well Jackson does this week I assume.
Hairline fracture. Follow up X-Rays didn't reveal as significant damage as the initial X-Rays taken at half time. Will not play against Washington was told he is still highly doubtful for Michigan State but Michigan should be a true game time decision.

Thumb Update Good news

i don't want to be the skeptical guy, but......

1. How is the thumb getting better when the surgery was yesterday?
2. How is it even within the realm of possibility that he might be ready for MSU?

I'm encouraged by the optimistic update, but also not really buying the degree of optimism.
For instance, if the surgery was to remove the nail from the bed, you would recover from that pretty quickly

Anyone actually think we'll get Mullins?

I would show him a video of all the 6 2 white 1 and done guards the last 30 years. 2 seconds later, then we would talk about getting an education and making some good nil money

You want to play the best you gotta beat the best. IU's destiny lies in their own hands. Beat Ahia at Ahia and 'nough said . . . on to the NCAA playoffs. Let the culture change sink in folks; we've got a winner . . . ask the Coach . . . better yet, Google him. What a time to be a Hoosier Football Fan !!!

Hoosiers

I agree, I just used that situation to illustrate just how bad it can be inside the pressure cooker of being "the guy" at a storied CFB program.
Absolutely. The grass isn't always greener. Personally, I thought Deboer was a great fit in Washington and was surprised he left, even for Alabama. Plus, he's been kind of a west coast guy. Life is a little different in the deep south....

It’s broken…

I’m betting 2 weeks. I’ve lost fingernails before. Ripped off from working as a mechanic over the years it happens. Once the bed heals it won’t be sensitive. Takes about 2 weeks. It’s extremely sensitive in that time though. So imho he’s back by OSU or Purdue.
Hard to predict timeline when we do not yet know the injury or which surgical procedure was done.
Hand specialists can be ortho or even plastic surgeons.
Any hand surgeons out there? Give us some educated guessing?

I don't know what 'Bama's situation personne-wise when Deboer took over. I seem to remember they had a lot hit the portal, but I don't remember.

I have no doubt if they stick with Deboer they'll be back on, or near, the top. He didn't forget how to coach. But Alabama is not patient.

Mike Greenburg was complaining about IU being ranked ahead of Alabama

Whatever your opinion may be on his take, he does indirectly amplify what could be the REAL issue/risk here...

We go 11-1, lose by (let's say...10) at OSU, and get left out of the B10 Championship...

Tennessee, LSU/A&M, or Bama with two losses likely gets in the Playoff over us because of:

1) Brand Name, and
2) Perceived SOS (was Nebraska ranked over all platforms when we beat them? Our only ranked game would have been a loss)

We mighta picked the wrong year to dump Louisville.
If we go 11-1 and get left out of the playoffs it will be robbery.
