We have a lot of offers out there, but are we actually in the lead with anyone?

If Kentucky or Kansas offered a 3 star recruit in their backyard they would commit on the spot. Galloway and Leal are waiting to see if Archie pisses down his leg again. They aren’t dumba#%es.

You expressed things perfectly.
Thank you.

This isn’t true and recruiting hasn’t been Archie’s issue to date but we get this is board is an emotional exercise for some of you more fragile guys.

Archie has objectively sucked for one year in his whole career. He’s earned another year without the low-T crew making gang signs and throwing down hollow ultimatums...

Agree that the statement was probably not correct in that both Galloway & Leal have said that they want to commit somewhere before their senior season starts. If they stick to that plan they won't have time to see "if Archie pisses down his leg again" before they commit.

I do think it was correct about what was said about local guys like this committing to UK or Kansas.....and also that their hesitation to commit probably relates to the 2018 results. If we were recruiting the same two guys a year ago I think one or both would have committed by now. So....although recruiting hasn't been an issue for Archie before, it doesn't mean it's not one now.

Read my initial post, I posited that we didn’t appear to be leading for any recruit and you turn this into personal “comments”.
You seem to have missed the entire point.
Again, it doesn’t appear that we are leading for anyone.

You don't think we're leading for Galloway or Leal? I would say Galloway is all but a lock, possibly waiting to see if a team like Kansas offers after the national championships in LA this week but I bet you see a commitment from here in the next month if not weeks.

I would say at this point IU is also the leader for Leal. It does appear that he may be wanting to take some more time and explore his options but if he had to commit tomorrow I would put money on IU.

Matt Cross who wants to decide in the next couple week is pretty much down to IU and South Carolina.

It seems to be a 2-way race right now between Georgia and IU for Diarra. I think Diarra will gain some larger offers after his summer performance and that may potentially push us done the list.

But don't get it twisted, IU is in good to great shape as it stands today with at least 3-4 prospects.

Since 2002 .. Mr Charlie>BIODTL>Jack Straw>Natural Mystic>TMP v1, TMP v2. I've had 6.

This one since Peegs left and it was unbanned..

Why? How many have you had? And what the fk does it have to do with your poor fact free debating ability?

I'd prefer Charley Phogg to Mr Charlie

In a word.....NO.
And thanks for making my point for me. If everyone is holding out for a "better" offer, then that is proof positive we aren't their number 1 choice.

May ask who then do you believe is leading for Galloway or Leal?

As of right now, the people who get paid to follow recruiting disagree with you. They think that IU is in the lead for both Leal and Galloway. Are you basing this in anything more than the fact that they didn't commit on the spot? I doubt it.

If you were a 17 year old kid would you pass up the opportunity to have paid trips to universities around the country with adults kissing your ass just because you knew which school you wanted to attend already?

If it meant that someone else could accept an IU offer and I’d be forced to go elsewhere, I would commit . . . If that’s really where I wanted to go.

There are four openings. Once one or two players commit others will jump in for fear of missing out on playing for IU.

It certainly would.......but you have to admit we are having a hell of a time convincing top 100-150 types from Indiana like Galloway & Leal to commit, especially since Purdue isn't a realistic option for either. At this point Archie is having to work his ass off for that borderline top 25 class. And we have to get these guys and have some moderate success this Fall to cash in on the '21 class. This is Archie's Season on the Brink.
That’s because we waited so long to offer them. If you wait to offer especially after being shot down by others it makes it seem like you only want them for that reason.

There’s one person that IU has offered that has turned IU down and committed elsewhere and that’s Ethan Morton.

I'd happily pass that up. Now, if I had the opportunity for a full ride at one of the top 10 academic institutions in the US, Standford or Northwestern, I'd take either in a heart beat

By the way, regarding Galloway or Leal and I quote: “Archie Miller has placed a heavy premium on his state since his hiring and has reaped the rewards of the time invested with a number of highly ranked in-state prospects. They don't have a 2020 commitment yet and many had believed that whenever they offered the duo on the same day last month, that they'd get at least one to commit in short order. Instead, each felt more than comfortable playing their recruitment out a bit further, which has caused some concern throughout the state. They need to kick their 2020 class off soon which makes a commitment from Galloway or Leal a priority.”

HA! How dumb do you think these kids are? Everyone knows if you have a pulse you can play at IU right now. There’s no reason to commit if you have other options.

Luke Brown is starting to look pretty good!

Matt Cross is taking two more official visits so he isn’t deciding anytime soon.

Since Morton and Ivey verballed Purdue’s interest in Galloway has wained. Truth is that Gallaway didn’t show much interest in any case. I think Purdue would have taken him without conditions. Hope IU can get him. I don’t like to see Indiana kids leave the state.

What should I say if we land a local 3 star? Should we throw a parade?

You made a ridiculous statement that will be proven wrong by a kid that has offers by a kid that was just offered by Ohio State, a school with a coach that you think is pretty good if I'm not mistaken.

Galloway has options. He's got offers from Butler, Michigan State, Iowa, Notre Dame and a couple other schools.

Your moving the goal posts, again.

IU has 15 offers out for 4 open scholarships. Exactly one of the 15 has committed elsewhere. So no, “everybody is turning down IU” was not practically applied. Try again.
You will be able to add a lot more to that list with another year like last. I can't remember a more important year for a coach in terms of getting momentum for the program.

I fear that if we miss the tournament again we will be unable to land the recruits we need to start competing for final 4s, and (at IU) that's the ultimate goal. IU can't afford to miss Leal, Cross, Furst, and Lander because of a poor showing like they did Morton and Brooks. Those recruits are absolutely imperative for Archie to get the program going.

Those are honest fears. Luckily Archie is still recruiting and appears like he would like to win some games this year.

As a coach in a high-turnover profession, I’m guessing he has a list of imperatives in his head every season but I’m sure board ultimatums will give him the extra juice he needs. And we all know saying something fifty times a day makes if exactly 50X as effective. Simple math...

I agree..I don't know why our fanbase isn't more positive about the direction and momentum of the program.
