We have a lot of offers out there, but are we actually in the lead with anyone?

Those are honest fears. Luckily Archie is still recruiting and appears like he would like to win some games this year.

As a coach in a high-turnover profession, I’m guessing he has a list of imperatives in his head every season but I’m sure board ultimatums will give him the extra juice he needs. And we all know saying something fifty times a day makes if exactly 50X as effective. Simple math...
7 missed tournaments in the last 11 years, haven't even been past the sweet 16 in almost 2 decades.

I'll say it as many times as I like, it's a very important season.

On the other hand, quoting exactly the sad statistics you mention, a case could be made that next season is not decisive: that it will take Coach Archie Miller a while to "right the ship". He likely has two more seasons of credit left at IU, at least.

I agree..I don't know why our fanbase isn't more positive about the direction and momentum of the program.

It’s okay to be wary. We all are. It’s the constant ultimatums that are making us look like sad sacks.

A wise man once said: don’t crap your bed until you are sure the springs are broken...

Think on that. Lol.

That’s probably one of the differences between the distinctive groups of posters: You and quite a few others believe there are scenarios wherein crapping the bed is acceptable. Some of us don’t believe it ever is. Think on that.

I think you might be right but here you guys go again blaming Archie for what Crean couldn’t establish in 9 years and blaming him for what IU hasn’t been in 30 years.

The questioning is understandable — even after Archie’s first truly shitty season in his career — but the emotional baggage you guys lug around makes IU fans look psychotic.

Let the dude coach. If we suck this year and he survives for another year, then the boos when they announce his name in AH will be unmistakable. However, we’re still in the hand-wringing portion of the process. Lol.

If you’re wary now you just became that way. You’ve been making false guarantees for 2 years. Don’t backtrack now.

Apparently 2 consecutive McDonald’s All-American’s and Indiana Mr. Basketball’s. But who’s counting?
Right. . . .and which 5*’s and high 4*’s are we in the mix for looking to the next 2 classes? Last time I looked, several other B10 programs are dramatically out recruiting us.

Depends which you consider a high 4*. IU is sitting very pretty with Leal, Cross, and Diarra who are all top 100. And I think Galloway is going to be the best out of all of them when it’s all said and done. It’s why I don’t put a great deal of stock into recruiting rankings.

The class of 2021 is loaded with in-state talent. As many as 9 guys are top 150. I think IU gets 5* Lander and top 50 Kauffman.

Lol. Not really. This is the 2nd part of how you and your squad roll. 80% of the fan base isn’t thrilled but just wants to give the man a friggin chance. If you think most of us are calling for a statue then that is a gross misread on your part.

I'm not sure if you've realized this yet, but he's an idiot that can't comprehend nuance. His worldview is binary. You're not calling for Miller to immediately be fired so you must think he's the greatest ever.

I thought you posted that you think he is going to take IU to a Final Four?

I think it's fair to say that AD Fred Glass would not have hired Coach Archie Miller otherwise. It's implied in the hire at Indiana that he is expected to take us to one or more eventually.

Thanks for the information. I won’t have to email him for his thoughts now;) AD Fred Glass also thought Tom Crean would take Indiana to a final four.

Forgive me for intruding. I had no idea I was invading your conversation, you know, this being a forum and all.

Don’t get between Hondo and myself. We have a strong bond. I would call us best friends.

I don’t mind if you intrude. Your post was just irrelevant and nonsensical.

Am I the only one who sees a blatant contradiction in what you just said? "Don't get between. . ." vs. "I don't mind if you intrude"?

Respectfully, I re-read my post and find it absolutely on point. Translation: relevant and "sensical".

Try to tone down the insolence, parochialism, and plain hostility, never mind the condescension.

There’s a much better chance that Archie never finishes in the top 4 of the Big Ten than the odds that he makes an actual Final Four. The thought of that is just laughable knowing what we know now.

You guys are realllllly starting to backtrack. Already? You guys were comparing him to Knight, saying he would win multiple titles, be here 30+ years, etc etc. Don’t back off now and say you only wanted to give him a chance.

Chance and odds have nothing to do with this. What I said is that it's expected of any coach hired at Indiana to take us to Final Four.

The first part of my post was a joke. Hondo isn't my best friend.
I asked Hondo a direct question because I was unsure if he had said it. You started talking about Fred Glass. How is that relevant?

As for your last sentence. You have been on here for 2 months, you and your 4 other handles can kiss my a#@.

I have only one handle. Pity you are so low-class when treated politely. I think this calls for EOT.

You're obviously confusing me with someone else. I've never said anything remotely close to that. I've been in the "too early to know" group the whole time. Like I said, you're an idiot that can only grasp two extremes but nothing in between so of if one isn't in the extreme view that you have them one mumust be in the other. Thanks for proving that point.

You still haven't clarified how your initial response to me was relevant?

You are missing my point. You weren't being polite. You were being a passive aggressive troll.

Is it fair to say you lean more towards Archie is "the guy camp"?

When Archie wins, and he will, then you had better disappear. Your assassination of Archie's coaching ability and character is irreparable to your reputation. I cannot wait....

No, but I'm also certainly not in on the "he's not the guy" camp either. He showed at Dayton he can coach. His work at IU it raises lots of questions but the circumstances have been less than ideal. His first season he lost the best 3 players from a team that was 2 games over 0.500. This past season there were plenty of injuries that, to me, seemed to disrupt any sort of continuity development. So I think he should get another season or two to see if he can turn it around. If next season there is another long losing stretch, then by all means, fire him. I want him to be successful at IU and think he can be but not because I have any attachment to him, but because I want IU to be successful and soon.

You obviously don't agree with this but don't bother arguing with me on it. You're not going to change my mind any more than I'm going to change yours. You asked and I answered, that's it.

No, but Glass would’ve. Until he was told he couldn’t. Your UK and Purdue obsessions must’ve cut you off from civilization at that time.
So you would have fired Crean. IU did that. What would have been your next step? Please show your bball expertise while you are explaining your plan. You criticize everyone else's bball knowledge, so enlighten us with yours. You have never done that in any post. Give us those x's and o's. Being a bball savant, you can "wow" us now...thought so...

Is this your ranting because you had to tap out due to ignorance on the “missed recruit” topic? If so, just admit it and I’ll answer your question.

Since Morton and Ivey verballed Purdue’s interest in Galloway has wained. Truth is that Gallaway didn’t show much interest in any case. I think Purdue would have taken him without conditions. Hope IU can get him. I don’t like to see Indiana kids leave the state.

He would never have gotten off the bench at Purdue.

It was a sincere question. I wasn't trying to argue with you. I disagree with most of it, but you have always responded in good faith. I do agree he should get another year.

The one thing I will point out. Archie's first season is he had a very favorable schedule. 8 of IU's 31 games were against teams that made the tourney. For comparison Crean's last season 16 of IU's 33 games were against teams that made the tourney. And last year 16 of IU's 32 games were against teams that made the tourney(I left out he NIT games). It changed my opinion on Archie's first season. Mea Culpa if the numbers are off a little. I'm working off of memory

The idiot, your buddy W2Boogie, wrote that IU missed out on Larry Bird...all credibility lost.

Here is what else he said about IU Nation:
Wall2Boogie wrote: " Indiana has the absolute worst fan base in basketball. You know it’s bad when cal basically has to say he won’t play there and allow himself, his players, or their families put up with their shit. I couldn’t tell you about the 56 fans that show up at IU games."

Are you in agreement with his beliefs? Did you know that Bird originally signed with IU? Did you know Sampson did not grow up in Kentucky? Do you agree with W2B and his statements about the IU fanbase. Will you share some real knowledge about IU basketball and basketball "strategy"? you are silly....
