The Disinformation Governance Board--reason #914 to hate Leftists

Its the first step - the cornerstone - for The Ministry of Truth.

Wake up.

Its genesis is a private company that has been censoring “Trumpers” for Democrats about to be acquired by a private citizen who will apparently apply less censorship of “Trumpers.” And the left is freaking out. Ideas they don't like petrify them. It is why they created “woke cancel culture.” They are gonna impose Unithought by any means necessary. It started when Woodstock Nation deemed Bob Dylan a traitor for going electric, and has been out there in some form ever since, growing like a spider in a cave, waiting for hobbits.

The left wants the government to declare certain speech “misinformation” and ban it.

Imagine an agency deciding which speech can be publicly disseminated in a newspaper. You like that? Change “newspaper” to “internet.”

You delude yourself to think its limit is fighting child exploitation? Did Biden fight sexploitation at the border? Nope. Its a ruse by the Inner Party.

Anybody who thinks this is not an attempt to censor political speech is naive (first eaten) or partisan (last eaten) or evil (in cahoots).

I am completely shocked that the entire citizenry of the United States has not demanded an end to this already.

The scorpion always stings the frog. Its why our nation was careful to create LIMITED government.
The rebuttal will come in nov.

Doing what, exactly?

The only actual information that's out there about this - which is almost none - doesn't bother me at all. Battling disinformation from human traffickers that they use to convince more desperate people to try to sneak into America? Of course, both parties should be all for that. Russian propaganda? Both parties should agree we need to combat that.

And then...well, that's it. There's literally nothing else out there about this except for speculation.

So what exactly am I supposed to be against? Big Brother? Of course I'm against Big Brother. But so far, Big Brother only exists in the fevered imaginations of right-wing pundits.

In other words, misinformation.
If YOU decide what is “misinformation” people like me wind up in camps.

It might be a bad idea. But that's not what anyone here is objecting to. They are objecting to paranoid conspiracy theory ravings of what this thing even is.

Which, to go back to my original post, is hilarious, because it is quite literally misinformation.
Isn’t that non-responsive to something real that just happened that you and many dismissed as a conspiracy theory but turned out to be true?

I don't think they will have any enforcement capabilities ... I think that would be shot down in the courts. In my opinion, the board will be just another misinformation source.... as bad as some of the ones they are flagging as a misinformation source.

Ironically, it seems like the people complaining about this disinformation board are doing so on the basis of, umm, disinformation.
You, after your best friend dies in The Ministry of Truth in 2040:

That is the "new" approach to controls. They don't need enforcement capabilities. They've spent at least the last 4 years perfecting how to launder information smears and enforcement over to the private sector. They are neutering the constitution and that pesky damn Judicial branch as part of this coupe.

You talking about the Expanded SCOTUS? Where sex and race determines who holds which seat? Where partisanship is demanded instead of reviled?

"As the author of the bipartisan law that established the Global Engagement Center to combat the constantly evolving threat of foreign propaganda and disinformation abroad, I do not believe that the United States government should turn the tools that we have used to assist our allies counter foreign adversaries onto the American people," he said in a statement on Thursday.

"Our focus should be on bad actors like Russia and China, not our own citizens," he said, adding that he looks forward to pressing Secretary Mayorkas for answers when he appears before the committee next week.

We'll find out. I don't trust their motive

You're wasting your time. He's the king of "Nothing to see here", soon followed by "So what if it is, what does it matter?".

Your quote proves my point.

Yes, I guess we will see. I will reserve judgment for after we have some meaningful info about this.

The Biden laptop and the instant casting of that story as Russian Propaganda by mainstream media and Intel officials - eg the people that will call other such things Russian propaganda. I mean - the problem is blatantly obvious.
To be clear, I didn't dismiss Hunter's laptop as a conspiracy. I dismissed it as irrelevant.

That said, I understand your point, and it's valid, but what's the solution? DHS just ignores misinformation, and does nothing to counter it?

Sounds like you and the other conservatives.

That was the gop strategy for 4 years under Trump. If used by a dem then it is just a what goes around, comes around.

You didn’t dismiss as a conspiracy and that’s fine. But the Intel apparatus certainly did. Media kicked NYPost off of Twitter. Do you think DHS will get this right? I don’t. Our worst talent works for politically-appointed government.

They need to counter misinformation via cyber security measures and other ways. Deciding what posts come down is not a good approach unless they can trace something coming from a troll farm or the like.

Obviously, you're right. But no one is suggesting they want to decide which posts come down.

My only concern so far - and maybe this is partly why you're wary - is that I see no need for this. It looks like a completely unnecessary extra level of bureaucracy.

Yes - that only serves to further harm government trust and institutional trust. This administration is a train wreck. It’s very disappointing.

Now that is a slippery slope if I've ever seen one. What do you think would happen if the Democrats expanded the number of justices. When Republicans got the upper hand they would expand it again and appoint their justices. Better leave well enough alone but I don't think many of them have enough sense to see that.

The Biden laptop story just needed a delay, followed by "its been missing for months - there is no way to tell what was on it or what was added" - which is also a lie, but it sells when you control the message.

Here is the intellect we are dealing with, as Biden babbles though pressers he may not even remember and further demon-strates rapid-onset dementia:

Hillary never used private devices.
Well, she did, but it was safe. She used the system provided by the government. You can see ALL the e-mails.
Well, she used a private system, and lots of e-mails are missing, but it was safe.
Well, it got hacked but who cares - Colin Powell did it too, and Trump was peed on by Russian whores and says Hollywood gold diggers will let him touch their crotch..
Russian bots used Facebook to defeat Hillary and Trump colluded with them.
There were no election shenanigans - trust us, we always tell the truth.
Twitter needs to censor ideas.
When Musk buys Twitter, he will refuse to censor the proper bad ideas.
We need a "Misinformation Cabinet" - trust us. And shut up - you don't even know if or how wet ill abuse this power. We are always honest - trust us.
January 6 put democracy at risk.
All the other riots we fomented and defended did not.
Trust us.
If you don't think like us, and won't trust us, its because you are racist Nazi fascists who watch Fox News. I'm unfriending you and writing your employer.

Trust them.

Put me down as a dystopian in respect to unbiased news sources disappearing and leaving us only with sources for those on the political left and right. Political sources which claim to represent the truth and refer to sources which don't share their ideology as being fake news.

A government agency deciding what is disinformation in the hands of either those on the left or right would only accentuate the existing problem.

Let me get this straight. You want the United states Government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security (which oversees our open borders) to "counter" statements that it considers misinformation....and you think it's a good idea? You see no inherent danger?

I wasn't trying to confirm or deny what they think the dems are doing. I don't believe anything posted by people that constantly buy into gop propaganda.

Just thinking out loud how this barrage of misinformation could be tackled.
Best not for you to 'think out loud'. First of all, you don't think, and if you do, you should just keep whatever bizarre shit is in your head to yourself.

Yes you get it. This is setting up something that WILL be abused by everyone. It is bad news.

Everything..., and I do mean Everything..., they accuse the right of is actually who they really are...

Weaponize the IRS, the NSA, the FBI..., the overseas Intelligence Services..., And the Department of Homeland Security....; No Problem..., as long as it fits their partisan agenda...

Disappointing, but totally predicted by most conservatives even on this board.

You Trump haters didn't want to believe it, but "We told you so".

Hopefully you won't be as gullible next time.

The key concept of an AI Language parser is to flag content, even before it gets posted.
Just put it in the fact check hopper before it can be read.
If it never sees the light of day … it may sent back to sender for acceptable corrections.

I thought he said he did. Either he or Aloha said they did.

If you didn't vote for Trump, that says you couldn't see a difference between Biden and Trump and that's just as bad.

What if neither candidate represents your individual values and/or policy preferences?
Then you are implicitly accepting whatever you get.

I find it hard to believe that you can look at 2 candidates, add up the positives and negatives, and not come to some sort of objective conclusion.

I can understand casting a symbolic vote, but don't come on here complaining about what you ended up with.

And I don't recall you bashing this administration. Maybe you have, but I don't recall.

I don't have a problem with expressing an opinion about philosophical differences. But if you enabled an administration to get voted in, don't complain about it later. That's all I'm saying.
