One more time. The emails to and from Eastman and Jacob aren't media spin. They reflect communications between two people, and they're evidence. They were included in a court filing yesterday. The story was kind of buried because of Ukraine, but this is a big f^cking deal.

I used to see "fuel surcharge" lines on the invoices I processed from numerous vendors when gas prices went up. Dealing with spikes in fuel costs is something I've dealt with my entire working life. It's not going to bring the economy down or put anyone out of business.
They do 95 percent residential. Price of gas leads to higher bids and people put it off.

The price of gas is a huge deal to small businesses. They operate differently. I remember years ago my fam's asphalt biz got the contract to do all the Walgreens' lots in the metro. It was a big deal. They would invoice after each lot. Walgreens ended up nearly two years behind in remitting payments. The biz said F it. Better to get $3k on a driveway than that mess. The problem is there isn't much margin and the price of gas is huge. People just put it off. So yes you can integrate that jump on a big biz with vendors but many small businesses don't have that luxury.
Half of all biz is small biz. Joe has gotten a gov check his entire working life. I trust he doesn't have a clue. Every single guy on all their asphalt crews would vote for Trump again in a heartbeat. There's a whole swath of America like that that the "elitists" are apparently oblivious to. I'm not saying it doesn't hurt. Just saying it's not the Armageddon some are making it out to be. We've had big jumps before and come through okay. Maybe a little bruised, but still able to struggle through.
One thing about being old is knowing there ain't much that we have to face that we haven't faced before. Gas prices hikes are little more than annoyances in most situations. I might have to cut back on my Mother Bears from three to two times a month. Oh the Humanity!
