Email exchange, disclosed today, between VP Pence's Chief Counsel Greg Jacob and Trump adviser John Eastman, dated January 6, 2021. Eastman was pushing for Pence to stop the certification of the electoral votes. Jacob replied:
"I respect your heart here. I share your concerns about what Democrats will do once in power. I want election integrity fixed. But I have run down every legal trail placed before me to its conclusion, and I respectfully conclude that as a legal framework, it is a results-oriented position that you would never support if attempted by the opposition, and essentially entirely made up. And thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.”

To their credit - and I don't think it's hyperbole to say this - Greg Jacob and Mike Pence helped preserve our democracy that day (and the days leading up to it). There are a lot of things to say about Mike Pence, but lucky for us he does seem principled and also appears to be a rule follower to a 'T'. Just imagine if a bootlicker like Kristi Noem, Tim Scott or Nikki Haley was serving as VP at the time.
That said, the end of this article was slightly chilling:

After Jacob raked him over the coals for essentially being a moron willing to blindly do Trump's bidding and torpedo a free and fair election, Eastman essentially shrugged everything off and said let's grab dinner and a bottle of wine when this is over. It's was just a game to him.
