It’s difficult to keep ideas and principles separate from people, personalities and individual ability. . But that must be done to be well grounded. . Anybody who says things like “the GOP has left me“ and “Trump” or “Trumpism” in the same sentence are not serious political thinkers in my view. I have Kirk’s 10 Principles bookmarked, as well as some Burke and other material. I periodically look at those and there is no doubt why I am a Republican. Trump shrinks to irrelevancy. Further, I’m not afraid to admit I voted for Trump and I have defended many of his ideas. He was more effective with implementing GOP ideas than anybody in recent years, including Reagan. But that by no means suggests he has no negatives—his post election behavior being chief among those.
