Put Sorsby and McCulley in the top 3 and it’s spot on.

That's 70% of our starting offense right there. The one that scored 30ppg.

Is it too late to rescind permission for Cignetti to coach the bowl game?

He needs to get to work.

I saw Carter Smith's deleted tweet where he said he was going to Ohio State. So I imagine that one was a done deal.

With him being an Ohio kid, I get it. Kind of like John Kerr making the move (although you couldn't transfer w/ schollies within the conference back then).

But don't think for a second that he was phoning it in like he wasn't a competitor for IU or something. I saw him after the Penn St. game and I think he was being really hard on himself for the way the game ended. I don't remember if it was his guy that got through to cause the fumble/safety, but from the way he was beating himself up it would seem like it.

We're in deep trouble if he does leave because he's the only thing close to a talented Left Tackle that we have... Finding one in the Portal and actually enticing him to play here is a tall order...

Used to be that you could count on Ohio guys and the rest of the Midwesterners...; guess that's another quiant old memory that's gone by the wayside in today's society...

Oh well he worked hard while he was here... Seems to have a bright future. Hope they don't bury him in the depth chart over there...

Would Carter even see the field at OSU?

He may have deleted the tweet when he heard CCC was hired... never know. I'm not counting anyone in or out.
I think it was deleted like RIGHT after it was posted a few days ago. He might have heard rumblings of CCC getting hired, but it certainly wasn't announced.

I was wondering if it wasn't a tampering issue. I don't know the rules here (if there ARE any rules), but I don't think the portal is even technically open yet. So I'm not sure other schools can contact players to even make offers at this time.

At any rate, I hope Carter stays.

Are you even allowed to announce a transfer right now?

Our run D was decent. Cox & Lucas Jr. were big bodies in the middle.

Decent in run support. Not effective in pass rushing. I think there are guys who will be out there who could be an upgrade if we could get them.
I would think that Coach Cig will hit the portal for DL and try to keep guys like Sneed, Blidi, Burris and James onboard.

True but QB is far and away the most important position on the field. Our QBs were regularly running for their lives behind the line made up of all the guys you want to bring back.
I agree. The thought is that they'll continue to get better as they did during most of the last part of the season.

See if you can find better ones (that will actually come here). I've IDed 4 and I'll be surprised if we get one of them because everyone else is after Offensive Linemen too...

I guess Carter was at the coach-players meeting today. So he must be open to staying.

I have no inside info, but I wonder if a lot of these guys' loyalty lies with CTA. And if they are buying into the narrative that the university somehow wronged CTA by not providing the appropriate level of support (i.e. NIL, etc.), it may be a tough sell to get them back.

It is what it is. We have a path forward and we need guys here that want to be here.

I wonder how many bigger names IU could have gotten with more $? Maybe a veteran QB for last year? If you have to buy a team each year to win, then he was going to have a hard time w/ sustaining success.

I don’t buy that Bazelak was all that bad. He led the great game winning drive vs Illinois. And he battled for a lot of the year. His ass just got killed through the season and I think it spooked him.

Keep McCulley, Smith, Benson, Carpenter, Sales, and Moore.

Maybe James

The rest….see ya.

The big boosters were not going to invest more into a coach who wasn’t getting it done. Call it harsh but it’s business and boosters with big money have no obligation to dump $$$$ into a coach they don’t believe in.
I don’t buy this narrative that the university and fans sabotaged Allen. He had a fairly well regarded class of transfers and won 3 games. He was underachieving greatly with his resources. Lost 3 straight to its chief rival, all during a coaching transition with them.

I wonder how many of these players would have entered the portal even if CTA had not been fired.
