Are any schools being mentioned for Geronimo??
I presume neither Bates nor JG have done anything irreversable? If they looked at their options and decided that none were better than staying at IU, would Woodson take them back I wonder? Lots of players entered the portal when Archie was fired, and (almost?) all of them ended up staying. Or would they just be stuck with going to some program they don't really want to be at?

We're under no obligation to take them back. This is the second time JG has entered the portal. I'd be stunned if either wanted to come back and we then took them back.

Thanks for your diligence on these portal threads, I'm just here for the Bball info and I *REALLY* appreciate your effort. Well done.

Neither are going to come back or should consider it. I expect Bates will find something close to his daughter. JG needs a new start where he can get playing time. Neither stepped up their play in a season they had full opportunity to do so. I wish them well but both failed to launch into key players.

What is the deadline to enter the portal and also to commit to the new team?

Im trying to get a sense of where we are on the game for this off season. Are kids still entering, and how long can schools shop for new rentals?

Players can put their name in during a 60 day window after the tournament selections are made. I'm not sure about how long schools can recruit players in the portal. I assume it's ongoing, but don't really know.

JG's best offensive position was at the 5, and having TJD, RT, and MR, always clogging that area, took his best option away.

JG needs a team with a big who plays the 5 on defense, and can score from outside on offense.

Completely agree with this. When Geronimo went on his good run his sophomore year over the last 3-4 weeks of the season he was playing primarily a down low 4 banging for offensive rebounds. TJD was starting to facilitate from 8-10 feet away more. Woodson and staff wanted Geronimo to be more of a versatile 4 who could defend the perimeter, shoot and drive to the basket. I just don’t think that will ever be his game.

If he finds a team that has a stretch 5 and allows him to work primarily inside he could have a solid couple years there.

Geronimo’s energy and effort is contagious and I wish him well, but he was never going to develop into the type of 4 Woodson wants. Reneau is already a bigger, more polished version of what Woody wanted Geronimo to be.

Jack Wison to Minnesota he is a football player who averaged .03 points per game in bbal as a walkon I guess they are a little desperate.

It will be interesting to see who gets the Minnesota job next Fall. Tough place to win these days.

I see no way Ben Johnson is not fired after this season though I could be wrong. They probably should never have fired Pitino he was likely about as good of a coach as they are going to get at Minn. The only reason they got Garica was because he had a sick family member he wanted to be close too they did not win some recruiting battle to get him.

It's too damn cold up there. And by far the most famous Minnesota team was the one that physically battered the OSU team back in the day. The arena, although iconic, is 100 years old. Lots of negatives. Good fan support though.

They had some good teams back in the day when Clem was cheating his behind off. I always wondered how they got Courtney James when IU and Purdue showed no interest. Turns out the gal at Minnesota was doing all his homework and writing his papers for him.

As a good-natured Minnesotan might put it, the fit hit the shan
on March 10. In that day's St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan
Gangelhoff, a former office manager in the Minnesota athletic
department's academic counseling unit who also tutored
basketball players, was quoted as saying that with the knowledge
and support of men's coach Clem Haskins she had written some 400
papers, take-home tests and other assignments for 20 Gophers
players from 1993 to '98. The papers, on topics ranging from
premenstrual syndrome to acid rain, had earned grades as high as
A+ and were still stored on the hard drive of Gangelhoff's
computer.

That's a really good pick up for them. Film on AJ Storr is very solid and his overall season numbers don't do his play justice. Was very good for SJU in the second half of the season once he became an everyday starter. He's originally from Rockford IL so Madison makes some sense in that regard, but I just don't see that system being a fit for his game.

Kind of surprised IU didn't pursue him a little more than the courtesy shoutout they gave.

Our recruiting in the East is sucking this portal season............is Kenya Hunter pulling his weight? It seems that Rosemond has been the lead recruiter most of the time recently.

PSU with a nice get in the form of Qudus Wahab, 6'11" 240 lbs, who played 3 years at Georgetown and 1 at MD, with 88 career starts. With 5 transfers, jamal brown (former PU commit), and PG Clary, they won't be horrible. Evan Mahaffey may also come back out of the portal.

Updated and revised with some interesting BT transfers in: E. McCaffery PSU to OSU; Josiah Allick, N.M. to Nebraska; A. Ulis, Iowa to Nebraska; Geronimo to MD; Ryan Landborg, Princeton to NW; and Leo O'Boyle, Lafayette to PSU. Although none are stars, all can contribute, with the possible exception of JG. Minnesota is hurting....they needed at least 4-5 who have at least some game and haven't gotten them.

#s wise, its PSU 6; Michigan, Neb, OSU, IU, NW, and Illinois 3; MD and Minnesota 2; Purdue, Wis, Rutgers, Iowa 1; MSU 0. As far as best 'classes', in no particular order, I'd say IU, PSU, Nebraska, OSU, Michigan and Illinois.

Walker listed last the whole thing still baffles me. He honestly was the best we could get? Sparks will clearly be the first big off the bench and I hope he can play heavy minutes cause some games he will have too.

Do you like the Walker pickup?

Would guess you're entirely wrong. Reneau gets two early ones, they aren't playing Sparks and Ware together for extended minutes.

Also, Walker will get his fair share of minutes when the opposing team has an athletic 4 that can play out on the perimeter.

Listing him last wasn't a slight or to imply a rating...I just realized I hadn't listed him.
