Kavanaugh

That used car salesman might have just killed BK's confirmation. If that's a real sworn statement from a real person who has the witnesses she says she has BK is toast. I read what is available to read and it is a killer. I don't know how it could be debunked. If it's true BK and his friends should have been thrown in jail in the 80's.
Especially when Kavanaugh's response to date has basically been, no, that couldn't have been me, I would only have been at church or in the library when that happened.

I'm reading that she could lose her security clearance and go to jail if it's found she is lying (since it's a sworn affidavit), so definitely very serious charges here.

I'm not saying I believe it or believe all of it yet, but if this is true it makes sense why Kavanaugh and his buddies have been super defensive about their HS days.

This is absolutely outrageous. It's a Roy Moore moment on a national scale. It's even worse than that. A major political party has nominated an individual to the Supreme Court who is facing credible allegations that he engaged in gang rape. If those allegations are proved, the republican party needs to be completely disbanded. They are a threat to the rule of law and order in the United States.

No it’s not. We can assume they didn’t knowingly do any such thing. Their gut response to dismiss the woman is what’s problematic, but I don’t think this is a Roy Moore situation.

Yeah right just like the entire Dem party was disbanded because of Bill Clinton what a insanely stupid statement

It seems Mark Judge will need to testify to add some context since he is now directly implicated by an accuser. Honestly when these first charges came out I was suspicious of them as BC had a "choirboy" image, but when it was revealed Brett was close pals with Judge, that was a BIG red flag. That's like finding out your son who professes his own sainthood has been hanging out with Bluto Blutarsky at Delta House. The guy actually wrote a book about his school day debauchery.

The current leader of the Republican party admitted on tape that he engaged in the sexual assault of multiple women. How on Earth do you give the party the benefit of doubt? It's entirely possible that they were fully aware of Kavanaugh's background and chose to ignore it. The fact that they continue to stand by him and are attempting to prevent an investigation is outrageous. The charges laid by Avenatti's client are much more serious than the Roy Moore situation.

LOL! Keep your hopes in the real world. ;) I think we will have to be satisfied with one possible sexual abuser not making it to the SCOTUS. We also have to understand we're probably going to get another conservative justice there instead because Trump has his list and he's probably got his second choice ready to name now. We get to do this again soon I think.

Are you really that stupid? Regardless of this truth or not in this , you honestly think Dems have some great overall high road? You stupid fantasy land libs are just ridiculous

My preference would be the Dems take the Senate and Corker/Flake etc don't vote to confirm someone in the lame duck (which would be unprecedented I believe), but I'd much rather have anyone else on Trump's shortlist from last time then Kavanaugh in there.

Sure but the odds are small that Dems take the Senate and if they did I think they're high that they'll confirm someone before January.

Assuming some or all the allegations are true, the question isn't whether or not he joins the Supremes. The question is: does he keep his position on the DC Court of Appeals?
I didn't think Ford's allegation was sufficient to threaten Kavanaugh's existing seat on the DC Circuit. But if the virginal choirboy was actually organizing gang rapes, then he's toast. His nomination to the Supreme Court could turn out to be the worst thing that ever happened to him. He must be reeling right now.

I should have added: Will he keep his wife as well?
If she wasn't aware of the stories she has to be giving him the side eye.

Trump seems legit shook. First time he's attacked Avenatti

Gabriel Sherman is a very well sourced journalist.

I would at least say Sherman is plugged in to "Javanka" World and some people who aren't hardliners in the WH.

He's got kids too. I can't imagine what I'd be feeling if I were in his place.

There's no joy in this, so I'm glad to see someone reminding us of the humanity involved. I feel terribly for any victims, but I also feel badly for Kavanaugh's wife and children.

I think that's precisely why he's been denying it with the choir boy image, for his daughters' sakes. But ultimately, I give him no credit for really caring that much about his family. This is a sick, jaded, degraded individual. His charade is coming to an end and rightly so. Rather feel sorry for people who really get a bad deal from life, like his wife and children.

Why exactly are you here?
Typical Lib, someone doesn't agree with your agenda and so they shouldn't be here? I am not saying one way or the other how the Kavanaugh thing will shake out , but to assert the entire Rep party should be disbanded? What a bunch of crap . Why exactly are you here? So you libs can all post stupid crap and pat each other on the back? Grow up.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I'm sure a third response till totally do the trick.

That is the really sad part. You know it is hard for the kids to hear this, and know all their friends are hearing it too. I imagine his coaching girls basketball is done. Those are ome of my most treasured memories with my daughters, and that's sad for him and them.

It’s the kid stuff more than the wife stuff that’d be devastating to me.

Was thinking the same thing earlier. What a turn of events in such a short span. The high of being nominated to the Supreme Court, to public humiliation and probably loss of career and family only weeks later. Jesus.

I still can't grasp his thought process here. Knowing that there existed so much live ordinance (to use your term) out there, why would he stay the course once the dominoes commenced tumbling? Bowing out gracefully a week ago could have avoided this last bombshell, which of course is the one that could truly destroy him. And he could have played the victim taken down by scheming leftists. Now he's ruined on all fronts. I don't get it.

Someone could write a book about this.

How many men from Georgetown Prep have had an FBI background investigation or background investigation for a security clearance in the past 35 years? I'm guessing more than one. And yet, this has never came up.
Sope also brought up a very interesting point. Why would you frequent parties, 10 of them in fact, if you consistently witnessed gang-raping, drugging, etc going on. I know that I am not suppose to blame the victim here, but once again, that seems really odd to me.

One picture is emerging that seems to be fairly accurate. BC was a debauched teen that later in life seems to have reformed, cleaned himself up and became ostensibly a reasonably respectable citizen. I think this is the part where the two sides have trouble "reconciling" the idea that he may not fit into their perfect "black-n-white" distinction...Conservatives: "But he does charity work and coaches girls basketball". Libs: "But he was a Mark Judge pal and a womanizing, black-out drunk".

I've known guys that were pretty unpresentable in college that went on to become high-achieving professionals that would be almost unrecognizable to their "college self". I've had friends that basically cut off all contact with college friends to avoid their wife and "new friends" learning what "they were like in school". It wouldn't shock me if Cavanaugh had mentally blocked that part of his life from his mind and "put it behind him" so much that it literally didn't occur to him that this chapter in his life would ever come into view in 2018. The brain is very good at strategic self deception.

Again, I'm not sure if the allegations of sexual misconduct are true here, but it's becoming very hard to believe the portrait of monasticism that is being painted about Cavanaugh's life in HS and Yale. But it's a story that has played out in real life and even in entertainment. Anyone remember the end credit revelations on what happened to Bluto at the end of Animal House? He became a US Senator.

That's because every one of those GOP senators is a pussy.
No, you seem to get these things all on your one way street going the wrong way. The hearing will be much better coordinated and tus more informative if one examiner does all the work instead of 11 10 minute segments by a wide variety of Senators none of them experts in this field. Instead you get it all handled by a woman reported to be the finest expert on the subject that is to be found.

I think we've moved past questioning the accusers' motives. This is a such a serious allegation that it's impossible to move Kavanaugh forward. Trump should (meaning, he won't) pull it now, and move on. Putting Republican senators into a position where they need to vote on this isn't helping his party.

Simple question - in all this claimed, why didn't someone call the cops or tell a parent?
