IU Targets in the Portal Discussion Thread (UPDATED 4/25)

You are convinced that Leal will be gone but as many say on here some kids are happy to keep working an play when given the opportunity. Woodson has no reason to push Leal. He is IU through and through, is good academically and is a great teammate. He may never be in the top 10 players on the team but there is a really good chance he will still be here next season.

He is also doing a great job networking and building his business acumen in Bloomington that will provide a potential long term life payoff. We will see if your predictions are correct; but I believe he stays.
He doesn't play nice kid move on.

I read your post and responded. To be a 12-seed, the Committee ranks you in the range of 45-48. For the vast majority of the season, Purdue has been ranked between 1 and 5. That means your comment is off by 40 tournament seeds. You posted this despite common knowledge that Purdue was the 4th #1 seed by the Committee. Put simply, your post is dumb.

You seem to believe that a closely called game hurts Purdue. That is not the opinion of many commentators, Dykes of the SEC and Crispin of the BTN among others. What do they know? They get paid for their opinions and you post here. A rule of economics is the worth of something is what someone will pay for it. They get paid, you do not. Value accordingly.
My god you are ignorant.

The context was style points nor equating to seeding and YOU are the one that dragged it out

Jesus dude. Go home

And not close to your richest alumni (Carl Cook). I’ll be concerned when Purdue starts to land recruits that are being recruited by other big schools.

You don’t have many years left for Purdue to win a championship, Des.
I have never judged the quality of my life by championships won. I hang banners for the lives of my children and grandchildren ❤️

Our former backup QB to Jim Everett, Doug DeVos, controls a $5B family fortune. Your description of the wealth of Purdue alumni and fan base is beyond ignorant and renders your opinions moot.
Any school can point to annecdotal alumni.

I think what BIG is referring to is the overall depth of affluence.

Nicholas Timberlake 6'4" 205 lbs, Towson; Chris Ledlum 6'6" 215 lbs Harvard.

Of interest to me is Payton Sparks, 6'9" 240 lbs Ball State, who just entered the portal (again)
Timberlake---hell yes. I'd like all 3 of those guys and take our ball and go home

The Harvard guy's not an outside shooter but he's a scorer and a baller. Has lots of national interest.

Thanks. I'll take it with the injuries we've had this year and in Woody's 2nd year.

BTW, Edey is a helluva player . . . .
Eday has no game, if he can't camp in the lane for more than 3 sec 5' from the basket he's not a factor. He has no outside shot and his vertical leap is about 4". Just height does not make a a good player

There's a story about Timberlake on the Daily Hoosier. He's being heavily recruited. will be a 6th year guy.

Compared to most 7'4" guys he has plenty of game. You're focused entirely on offense. He's a pretty good shot blocker and a decent rebounder. And he's allowed to camp in the lane on offense . . . I don't know why, but he's getting good looks on offense.

Why would a guy 7'4" need a vertical leap? His arms and hands are already where most 6'9" guys are when seeking to rebound.

I'd take Trayce over Edey any day, especially if Trayce develops a midrange jumper. But that's no reason not to give Edey his due.

When you have somebody with $5 billion in wealth you do not need overall depth of affluence. And if depth of affluence was critical, Stanford, Harvard and Texas would be fighting each other for #1 seeds.

Can people please put these Purdue fans on ignore so that we can focus on IU portal targets?

Strange - IU visitors to the Purdue Rivals board get blocked immediately.
IU fans IMSKRONG and HoosierfanJM on the Purdue board have been around long enough to have multi-page lists of posts on the Purdue Rivals board. So, that's fake news.

If that one guy is going to pay all the ....never mind, you are too ignorant to comprehend a basic discussion.

Edey has a very limited game that he does very well. He can play a big role in college. TJD has a much broader game even with his own limitations. TJD is more likely to play in the NBA, but that is no certainty.

TJD WILL PLAY!

Sparks is interesting .Sparks has b10 size.

I comprehend math fairly well. When you have $5 billion, you can do almost anything you want. A donation that is 0.5% of your wealth is $25 million. That is a lot of NIL. Plus, it is deductible. You don't need a lot of them if they are motivated to amass a lot of money.

Minnesota's Jamison Battle is in the portal, and IU has interest. 6'8" forward who shot around 36% from 3 the past three years.

I'm all about the portal, but pretty crazy that the portal is open before the tournament even begins. Schools like Louisville get a huge advantage to host portal targets while schools in the postseason have to simultaneously prepare for games.

Hopefully the IU staff is working hard on this because you would assume we have at least 3 openings with the impending departures of TJD and JHS, and likely 4 if Logan is gone as everyone predicts. IMHO, we need at least 2 impact transfers, if not three. We need 2 guys who can score, at least one person who can play the 4/5, and at least one deadly shooter (regardless of position).

I'll keep a running list of the targets, and where they ended up. If someone else has already created such a thread, let me know and I'll delete this.

Harvard's Chris Ledlum

Why would Logan leave? He‘s looking at real PT next year

1. He's not looking at PT next year.
2. Logan's parents seem pretty fed up with him not playing.
3. You would have to believe Duncomb is the sickliest person in the world to believe he didn't dress that many games over the last two years due to illness.

Not a portal entry, but 2023 4* Garwey Darway from Carmel decommitted from Providence because of Cooley's move to Georgetown. It's possible he will not follow Cooley to Georgetown, and a lot of people are after him.

6'5" shooting/combo guard. I think he only played at Carmel his junior year, and I don't think we recruited him. Ranked #83 overall and the #12 among shooting guards. We should take a look.
