IU Targets in the Portal Discussion Thread (UPDATED 4/25)

Did you see how little he played before the "injury"? Many insiders have said for over a month that he is already gone.
I really do not understand why some people think because at the moment there appears to be playing time that Logan is going to get that playing time. Based on what? If he was that good he would already have been playing. They are going to go out and find beter talent plain and simple.

If he was that bad why did Woodson keep him this year?

I comprehend math fairly well. When you have $5 billion, you can do almost anything you want. A donation that is 0.5% of your wealth is $25 million. That is a lot of NIL. Plus, it is deductible. You don't need a lot of them if they are motivated to amass a lot of money.
Why would it be deductible? It's not a charitable contribution. It's a serious question because I don't know how it would be deductible and maybe you do.

Minnesota's Jamison Battle is in the portal, and IU has interest. 6'8" forward who shot around 36% from 3 the past three years.

He's a good player....about a 7.5/10....rebounds fairly well, shoots fairly well. Seems to have a good attitude.

business/advertising expense i suppose.

that said, i wonder how the IRS will look upon someone writing off big bucks for a couple shout outs on twitter.

If it's directly from the business, then it's just a marketing expense. If the donation is made to a collective like Hoosiers for Good (or Boiler Alliance in Purdue's case), then those are both 501 (c)(3) organizations which are charitable organizations. That means you can write off contributions to those organizations on your taxes.

Summer work, continue improvement. Late Bloomer.

I always see posters claim that we have the boosters to pay. How do they know this? Where are these top 5/ 10 numbers coming from. Are they guesses, facts?
Mark Cuban, Cindy Simon Skjodt, Sandy Eskenazi, Andy Mohr, the Cook family. There’s five off the top of my head. I’m sure we don’t know about the majority of them, who quietly donate.

So are we recruiting any shooters to help open up the inside game . Reneau and Trayce were on the floor at the same time , so Reneau and Dumcomb could play together next year. I thought they said Dumcomb was able to redshirt , so he would have 3 years left . Back to my original question are we recruiting any shooters .
Yes we are recruiting shooters. No, Duncomb cannot redshirt.

See the Miami game, unless he's coming off of the bench as a shooter.
He was the best shooter on the team, played pretty decent defense, given his lack of quickness, made very few errors. I wish we’d set more screens for him, but I’d take a Miller Koop on every team. He shot 48% from the field and 44% from three. Led the team in EFG at 63% and had the highest per possession efficiency on the team.

Thanks to TMP for those numbers!!

Minutes matter. IU needs players similar to Kopp, but more athletic and can create their own shot. I think Woody wants to run more of a dribble drive offense, anyways. Kopp as is should be coming off the bench as a shooter. IU lost to Miami for a reason, and they are going to have to get more athletic and versatile on offense if they want to start winning these types of games.

I agree with this. Kopp gave his all but a matured Banks or Gunn can do so many little things to help you win. Obviously Olidipo and Sheehey were freak athletes, but I remember them getting 10-12 pts a game that were just offensive put backs, quickness rebounds, steals & breakouts. They also really added to those teams with great at help defense, versatility in the switching defenses, etc. They did so much little things that doesn't necessarily show in a box score.

Yeah! He out played Furst from Purdue when they were in hs. His problem is with health issues. It’s funny because when practices first started the players stated Logan was beasting it up.

He was on a fast break and took a 3 pointer instead of driving and possibly getting a basket and foul.

The crazy thing is that it wouldn't shock me if he is a really solid college player as some point. He was very young coming in and then the injuries and sicknesses hurt too. He seems like a Jack Nunge type who really help win games as an upper classmen.
Duncomb doesn't come close to the fluidity of Nunge..
Hell Jack gave TJD a first team All American trouble....
