It isn't in schools

So I have an observation and a question.

Observation:

More female dancers at any school is a positive in my opinion.

Question:

Aren't the vast, vast majority of institutions in the United States PWI's b/c the country is, I don't know, predominantly white?

The infighting that ensues is the best part of identity politics in my book. At least, from an entertainment perspective.

Meet your new teacher children.

sorry what is the question?

Kinsey was a dirt bag. Seriously, the school went and pulled David Starr Jordan off of everything associated with the University but they are allowing the placement of a statue to an unapologetic child molester. And if you want evidence, Google Kinsey Table 34 and feel free to post your defense of how that data was collected here.
We know where the data came from, and it was not very good science, but claiming Kinsey was a pedophile and child molester is unjustified.

So I did a little digging on this. Evidently this guy was investigated last year for toxic masculinity …. This is his response.
Good for him. But I still think that’s just a rumor - unconfirmed.

Good for him? Um ok
Yes Zeke - good for him. If some asshole woke loony school wants to investigate a shop teacher for toxic masculinity (whatever that means in Canada - I can only imagine) then this is the appropriate response in this day and age. If my friend has to work with an unqualified and underperforming colleague who was only hired due to “their” identity into a marginalized group then the school board can deal with these consequences.

Noted right-wing puppet, Bill Maher, is now part of the conspiracy alleging, without any facts whatsoever, that there is something wrong happening in schools:

If you can manage all the academic/woke jargon, check this out:

From: The University of California at Santa Cruz

We seek a scholar whose research falls in any area of Critical Race STS—including scholars trained in indigenous, critical ethnic, Black, gender, and/or trans studies whose work critically engages the embedded racism, sexism, and colonial violence of science and scientific worldviews and their correlate, enlightenment humanism. A demonstrated record of research that de-centers Western scientific ways of knowing and challenges extractivist capitalist practices is especially welcome as are commitments to queer and indigenous ecologies, trans-species studies, and race-radical approaches to STEM. In addition to teaching responsibilities for the new Science and Justice minor, which CRES is developing in collaboration with the Science and Justice Research Center, this position requires a clear commitment to and willingness to lead programmatic and curricular development for the new interdisciplinary minor. Ideal applicants will demonstrate an approach to science and technology grounded in histories of and innovative methods of analyzing anticolonial, decolonizing, liberationist political thought and praxis, push the boundaries of the fields they inhabit, ask provocative questions, and relate critically and creatively to norms of knowledge production. Potential areas of research and teaching focus, among various areas of expertise, include but are not limited to environmental racism; climate justice; genomic justice; war technologies; medicine; public health; governance of science and technology; science policy; criminology, surveillance, and policing; border control; educational technologies; new media studies; critical data studies; histories of antiracism and anticolonialism in science, including the impact of grassroots collective and communal movements against racist science; and CRES engagement with the creative arts that facilitates a nexus between creative and critical inquiry."

I don't even want to think about what "trans-species studies" is all about.

Those ensconced in academic/left/woke/Democrat politics seem to want to make all of this worse. It will seep into k-12 education.

Clown world. Seriously.
So, to recap-there’s a biological male in the womens locker room making inappropriate comments to the women as they change…….

……….and they kicked the women out.

Clown world doesn’t do it justice.

They let a teen boy into the locker room who dresses like a teen girl. The teen boy made inappropriate (likely sexual) comments to the teen females on his team while they were in various states of undress in the locker room. The 10 teen females were told to go change in a single stall bathroom, the teen boy cosplaying as a girl gets their locker room, and now the girls are being investigated for harassing him.

Bozo ain't got nothing on that ish.

It’s hard not to laugh at the complete absurdity of it, but it’s really not funny

I guarantee the girls being investigated don’t find it funny.

Where are the dads of these girls? They should take this kid out behind the barn, as Biden likes to say. There are some things worth going to prison for.

Participation trophies expected in organic chemistry...and those seeking them succeded in getting their professor fired because the class was too hard.
This is a problem.

This is a problem.

I have so much to say about the attitude that you see from college graduates these days and it isn't necessarily new, but I will save it. I will say this though, we have built a society with a "credentialed class" who expects deference to their knowledge. They rely on pieces of paper that are doled out by institutions who had a history of actually churning out educated people with those credentials. The credentials are not worth what they were 40 and 50 years ago.

I wouldn't want any doctor who did pre-med at NYU working on me.

Ridiculous.

The only thing in the article that I, as a student would have a problem with, was not having access to class if I was sick. Outside of that, everything cries of entitlement. The best professors/teachers I ever had were sarcastic in nature, which I LOVED.

I have taught organic chemistry, though I more often teach graduate level courses.

Some profs just love to make organic demoralizingly hard. Make the tests so hard that the average is 30. So you "lead" the class with a 55, get an A. You feel beat down, but it is a method, and it can work. Grad school organic synthesis class at IU was like that.

But that isn't all that was going on, when you hear some of the complaints.

The prof is 84. He was asked to make classes accessible online during covid. He refused. Even students testing positive and not allowed to be on campus were not accommodated. No recording of lectures. Nothing. He treated it as an unexcused absence with no make-up or online help, say from the student TAs.

You can see how that made some enemies.

Most schools have in place rules that you have to go to Emeritus status sometime in your late 60s or 70s and not teach anything full time. Probably a good policy. But he has taught some people who became good scientists, so you have to say his methods can work. Maybe not ideal though for the premeds who have no desire to do organic synthesis forever.

I don’t know. I guess I’d want to know exactly what the charges were before jumping to conclusions. I’m not sure how dressing like that in front of kids is a good thing, regardless of the charges.
