Bottom line is the DOE is a failed institution. Give vouchers to parents so they can choose the best schools for their kids. Let the parents be the DOE.

LOL that was our oldest, who is now an engineer for Cargill. I was referring to our middle son who has Down syndrome. He loves working at restaurants.

Proud dad moment today. Our son had his first job interview today at a fast casual restaurant. My wife and someone from an agency that works with the state of Ohio have worked with him on his resume and soft skills. But it was my wife who came up with the idea of applying to this particular restaurant. Keep in mind we have no “in” at this place and I think my son ate there once years ago. I don’t think the restaurant knew ahead of time that he has Down syndrome.

So…..

They offered him a part time job on the spot!!! Parents are always proud of their kids’ achievements. But this…this…is a whole other level.

The state agency will provide him with a job coach at least initially. However, the restaurant manager told the state rep that she (the manager) will personally train our son.

(Not going to identify the restaurant in case things don’t work out. But it’s one everyone has heard of.)
