He probably would have done better with a third year law student who just took Trial Advocacy.

Trump yesterday on his social media platform: "Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either "CRAZY," or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT." I'll go with the former.

Finally, there's nothing unusual about a defendant going with a different firm on appeal, typically one that has experience and expertise in appellate advocacy. Interesting, though, that trial experience and expertise apparently weren't prerequisites for his trial lawyer. At this point, I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying that he's not getting the cream of the crop.

Your final point is key, you ALWAYS switch to an appelate specialist, so this is no great surprise.

The folks at Meidas have been sounding the drumbeat on her incompetence for months. Trump has paid $4 Million to Habba alone,and roughly $50 Million overall. And has basically stiffed Rudy, to the point that the bankruptcy trustee will likely have to sue Trump to help pay off Rudy's own defamation judgement in the Ruby Freeman/Shaye Moss lawsuit.

From all accounts she is light on trial experience and it showed in the courtroom. On one occasion, when she asked something inappropriate of Carroll on cross and an objection was sustained, the judge said to her, "Ms. Habba, this is Evidence 101." Her next ten questions on cross were met with objections that were sustained.

Also, the worst thing a trial attorney can do is to be a jerk in front of the jury and she apparently did this repeatedly, becoming hostile and combative with the judge when Trump was in the courtroom. Not surprisingly, she was more respectful and deferential when Trump wasn't around.

Her bills have reportedly been paid (by Trump donors, no doubt), so good for her. The problem with representing Trump, though, is that: 1) most attorneys want to win; and 2) all attorneys want to avoid sanctions. As Trump's counsel, there's little chance of the former, and real risk of the latter. Oh, and he can't be controlled. In sum, he's a lawyer's worst nightmare.

1) She got paid. That's a heck of a lot better than many of Trump's lawyers can say.
2) She lost, badly. But she got significant publicity from this. Think about it. How many of Trump's lawyers can you name beyond her and Gulliani? She'll get a dozen clients who are MAGA faithful and don't care about how badly she flubbed this one.

More likely she parlays her new found fame and physical attractiveness into something outside of the law.

Greenberg and the rest have to go back to living their lives in six minute increments. She made millions in a year

He’s had 4,000 cases. Half of south fla has repped his businesses and him. She won the lottery getting trump for a client. When would she have ever gotten an opportunity to make millions in a year and be a household name.

She obviously didn’t know trial law. Lucky woman

Cohen I'll give you. But he's more infamous than famous because he actually turned hard on Trump.
You ask the American public who those other three are and maybe 20% will know who Powell is. 1 in 100 will know Eastman or Cohn, at best.

She's "it" right now because this is a current event. And, because she's attractive, she'll get a gig on TV.

Trump wants lawyers who are media-savvy, good in front of a mic and effective with his messaging. And, yes, physical attractiveness is a plus. Legal skills are secondary.

Infamous in that he turned.

No MAGA (or anybody really) is going to hire him as a lawyer.

Sidney Powell has copped a plea deal (IIRC), but she's not going on camera telling you how much of an idiot Trump is. She's probably hoping to just fade into the background now.

Powell might get some gigs a few years out, but I doubt anybody seeks her out specifically for representation.

Tv gig is disappointing. I was hoping it would be more of a gig for serious fans. Like a place where only fans can go to watch her videos. There’s gotta be something out there like that she can do.

That's certainly big in criminal appeals. Never heard of it/seen it in a civil case, but who knows. With Trump, it's almost always uncharted territory.

That doesn't work in a civil case? Interesting. Never would have thought that. So if a dumbass like me gets sued into oblivion because I hired an idiot for a lawyer, I'd have no recourse on that basis?
