Goat's POLS Thread for Mature Adults

Speaking of white supremacists/nationalists...

I just saw a report on MSNBC about pro-Trump militia types showing up at the site in Detroit where the vote is being counted, and forcing themselves into the building and even in the room where the ballots are being counted. These are not actual GOP "poll watchers", but they seem to be the same type that were involved or sympathetic to the people who plotted to kidnap Whitmer. I know LEO's were reportedly on scene, but I don't have any additional details...
Did you see the screaming guy with the Beer BBQ and Freedom T-shirt?

One thing we did not mention, Florida easily passed a $15 minimum wage while voting against the socialist Biden.

Raises the minimum wage to $10.00 per hour effective September 30th, 2021 and then increases it annually by $1.00 per hour until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour in 2026 and then reverts back to being adjusted annually for inflation.

I wonder how many voters voted for Trump and left the rest of the ballot empty.

And no state income tax there. Together will elevate some people

Yep, I just am wondering the thought processes of those voting yes to raising the minimum wage and voted for Trump. I do not think a single Republican here has ever favored such an increase.

Actually, that would be awesome. If anyone can make a third party viable, it's Trump. He takes over the Reform Party like Buchanan tried to do, and he'll win more votes than Perot. The major parties will have no choice but to realign.
Trump will be the new Bull moose candidate-that did not turn out so well for Roosevelt or Taft.

Maybe, but those were the people the heavy "Biden is a socialist" commercials were aimed at. I was searching Florida news sites for turnout stories, one news site headline, "socialism on the ballot" referring to the ads on Biden.
I could be wrong but I think that it’s a right to work state plays a part too. My uncle owns an asphalt company. His guys do pretty well. Over $20 an hour. Jobs in Stl like that pay peanuts in fla. I think that factors in.

Maybe not but you have QAnon believers making political decisions.
And Georgia has a guy that thinks Guam can tip over if marines get stationed there. There are plenty of cancelling anecdotes.

26% of Floridians earn less than $10/hour. I'm guessing at least some of them are Republicans, but I can guarantee virtually all of them think their pay sucks.

Ah, alt right? That's a construct that really means nothing. But if it does mean anything, it doesn't describe conservatism.
I agree is not someone I think as a conservative. He’s a play for pay kind of guy. He probably would have made a good attorney but likely would have been disbarred kind of like a Michael Avanetti.

My parting shot here. The Trump followers had the D choices of Clinton and then Biden. Aside for other issues one could pick regarding these candidates, they are both moderate left of center. Trump is the extreme candidate. He’s likely a sociopath and many picked him twice.

Hmmm. Anyone give any credence to this?

The two Democrats told The Hill on Wednesday that they were reaching out to their colleagues about backing one of Pelosi’s top lieutenants, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), for Speaker in the next Congress.
“He’s the only one prepared and positioned” to be Speaker, said one of the Democratic lawmakers. “He bridges moderates and progressives better than anyone. And most importantly, he’s not Nancy Pelosi.”

Given the loss of seats, yes, she should go. She will not, but she should.

GOP thugs protesting vote count in Detroit. Storming the room and chanting “STOP THE VOTE!”

S-s-s-h-h. For God's sake, dont tell them! Nevada is the state that matters most right now.

If we're lucky, they'll waste their time there and Trump will foolishly up his campaign budget in Michigan.

I'll tell you what...when Biden wins Arizona and Nevada, you can have PA. Hell, after Biden wins Georgia, you can Wisconsin back, too.
If that were turned around, and some one found a batch of 23k ballots and 100% were Trump votes would you raise an eyebrow, or no?

He’s an extreme asshole. His positions aren’t extreme.

And Nancy. I’m looking forward to a lot of young, bright people in a Biden cabinet. Particularly interested to see where Pete ends up. Can’t imagine he will be left out.
These are good ideas, but instead of an age restriction, I'd prefer a stupidity or common sense test, if we had one. Ruth Ginsburg was old too but never seemed incompetent to me.

Besides the age thing, I don't get the hating on Nancy. I think she's badass.

Nevada, Georgia, and yes, Pennsylvania will push Biden to 306.

Might take some wind out of the sails of the lawsuits if it's NOT 270-268.

I had calmed down today thinking this was essentially in the bag. Now Steve Kornacki is showing me how AZ and NV may not be as solid a lock as I thought. OTOH, he's also showing me how we still actually do have a chance in GA. Now my guts are churning and my bowels are in an uproar. I'm going to see if the ol' battleax has any of her good meds she can spare. Fvck.

GA SOS says there are 122,535 ballots left to be counted. Trump currently has a lead of 39,811. That means Biden needs to win 66.25% of the outstanding vote to win the state.
