Biden meeting in NY with Adams where violent crime, like in many blue cities, is out of control.

I see and hear this attitude a lot in other areas. I find myself thinking the same thing sometimes. So I think it's worth examining: the only way that it couldn't hurt, is if there were no cost to trying to implement said policy.

But there is. There is always an opportunity cost and there is also the cost of pissing off half the electorate (no matter how wrongheaded you might think they are).

So I think rather than try things that we're pretty sure won't work because "hey we need to do something because we don't like what's going on," we should spend time building some kind of across-the-aisle consensus on things we think will work. That is difficult and takes time and compromise and talking with people we disagree with but I think it the best way to solutions (and also why I think it's a terrible thing to demonize "the other side" in other areas because it makes it impossible to get together and solve other problems that could be solved).

There is no 'across-the-aisle' to be had with the Dem mayors and prosecutors. Things have to get so bad that they change on their own accord to retain their power, or their own voters kick them out. Until then, everyone else is held hostage.

One more reason why I’m fed up with Biden and the Democrats.

For months I have heard Biden say the unvaxxed people are unpatriotic, dangerous , or even killers. He said he was ”fed up” with them and we had a right to be angry with them. I also heard those who question the 2020 election, “you are a treat to Democracy“. If you want voting security you are racist. If you object to his BBB plans you don’t care about women, children, and minorities.

Yesterday Biden travels to New York as a symbolic gesture to talk about crime in our great cities. Crime that is taking an increasing toll on the general sense of security we all should have. These are crimes real people commit. The shootings. The car jackings. The shoplifting. The car break-ins. The organized smash and grabs. All real crimes committed by real people with other real people as victims. Does Biden say he is fed up with these criminals? Nope. Does he say these criminals are killers? Nope. Does he say we should be angry at these criminals? Nope. Does he say these criminals are a threat to general security? Nope. Apparently these criminals don’t really exist in his mind. What is on his mind? Their guns. i guess he believes if we control the guns with more useless pablum like more background checks, attacks on the “iron pipeline,” and spend more money on both, the carjackings, gang killings, shoplifting, and smash and grabs, will go away. What dumbasses we have in this administration.
And the sick, demented pos doesn't even say anything about the Democratic prosecutors that aren't charging gun crimes. F*** him.

I mean the guy in San Fran is the son of Wether Underground members who wanted to overthrow the US government. You would have to be an idiot to think this radical has any interest in getting tough on crime. But it is San Fran and they will likely elect him again so that is on the voters as San Fran. This is the guy they wanted.

In 1981, when Chesa Boudin was 14 months old, his parents — members of the radical and violent Weather Underground — left him with a babysitter so they could take part in an armored car robbery. It became one of New York's most notorious botched heists, a crime that left two police officers and a Brink's truck guard dead in a New York suburb.

Gilbert and other former members of the Weather Underground, a militant group that grew out of the anti-Vietnam War movement, had joined with members of the Black Liberation Army in the Oct. 20, 1981, robbery. They stole $1.6 million in cash from an armored car outside the Nanuet Mall near the Hudson River community of Nyack.

Brink’s guard Peter Paige and two Nyack police officers, Sgt. Edward O’Grady and Officer Waverly Brown, were killed in the holdup and ensuing shootout at a nearby roadblock.

Thirty-eight years later, Boudin is set to become San Francisco's top prosecutor. In a matter of weeks, he will be sworn in as the city's district attorney, the latest in a line of prosecutors seen as criminal justice reformers who are taking the reins across the country.

So yesterday we get Biden's feel good moonshot announcement that should galvanize all of us. Crime has been out of control the last year - following the insanity of BLM and the loony left with their attack on cops, bail reform, and dem mayors sympathetic to defunding the police at the behest of AOC, Cori Bush and the rest of the Squad of blinkards. So what does Biden do today - heads to NY to "buddy" up with Adams - an ex cop who promises to be tough on crime.

Could this be the early stages of the Clinton/Obama pivot away from the left and back to the middle; the Biden most of us expected and were okay with getting the big gig? If this were to transpire Trump would have no choice but to slither away. Dems start doing moonshots, focus on inflation and crime, disavow the Squad, embrace centrist policies, the right would be fooked

Another soros funded DA. Love to see biden try and confront him for a pivot. Not a chance
There have been at least 140 carjackings in Philadelphia already in 2022 and we are still in the first week of February.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported police put the number of carjackings at 140 on February 3, 2022, and there have been over two days since then for other carjacking crimes to occur in the city.

Two ways to end police. One takes away their funding, the other takes away their authority. (As the Biden administration has done with ICE and the BorderPatrol)

In Denver last year, the cops took 2095 illegal guns off of the street, that is up from 1575 guns in 2020. 2022 will be different.

The bulk of illegal guns are guns in possession of prior felons. Most prior felonies will qualify for cri, inal charges for possessing a gun. Enter the deep blue legislature and deep blue Governor. Effective in a few weeks, March 1, police will lose the the ability to confiscate many of theses guns. In its infinite wisdom, the Democrats significantly reduced the list of felonies that would trigger gun possession charges. Taken off if the list are almost all property crimes, kidnapping and false imprisonment (often charged in rape and child abuse cases) most drug crimes, arson possession in ir near a school, and more. if a suspect is found with a gun, and a mile long rap sheet for these felonies, he not only gets to keep the gun, he will most likely be released on his own recognizance.

Homicides and gun crime are on the increase in Denver like everywhere else. Many of the stupid laws liberals passed in the emotional and dramatic aftermath to George Floyd are just now taking effect, like here in Colorado. Yikes.

I still cannot wait to see this biden pivot being talked about. Tough on crime joe will surely go over well with all the far left wing DA's in dem run cities. Look out DA's joe is bringing the hammer down.

You can rest assure the far far left wing AG in minnesota will charge this cops regardless of if it was justified or not. They will get another cop scalp. Cops will continue to step back and not engage and crime will stay out of control despite tough on crime joe pivot joe.

Limiting the legal sale of guns doesn’t stop criminals from buying them anyway.

Enforcing red flag or other sale restriction provisions doesn’t take guns out of the hands those who already have illegally purchased firearms.

An FBI database of police officers killed in the line of duty shows that more have died since Joe Biden became president than deaths dating back to 1995.

“We believe it’s a combination … of the George Floyd protests — riots, if you will; a general feeling of a preference for less law enforcement; and less prosecution and less policing,” Jason Johnson, president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) and a 20-year police veteran, said

Tough on crime joe.

That's the inane Squad and lunatic mayors around the country - not Biden. Biden's messaging started out poor, but has improved greatly.

Yes, I get it. Historic highs in some cities. And not in others. Why is it relevant that Philadelphia is historically deadly, but not relevant that New York is historically safe?

Sometimes people make it sound like we're suddenly living in The Purge. They need to get a grip.

If trump wins in 2024, these people will flip the switch that America is great again. Til a pub is in office, it will be drama queens

Yeah all those people are in dem and biden voting cities. Totally controlled by dems. You honestly think they are going to embrace the new tough on crime joe in philly, chicago, san fran, etc? He can talk all he wants but unless voters remove these DA's nothing will change

The far left mayor in san fran talked about getting tough on crime and the ulta radical DA just laughed at her. He will not change and how much you want to bet he gets elected again.

All of that is obvious. But cracking down on those with mental health and domestic violence arrests could help. Other countries are appalled at our gun obsession and we just shake our heads and don’t even pretend to try to solve the problem. More guns always seems to be our answer.

Honestly I’m not sure it would either, but I sure don’t think it could hurt to at least try it.
It would over time. Guns are taken off the streets every day and if gun purchases are regulated and automatic weapons banned, eventually the numbers become reasonable

Last week, Biden talked about being tough on crime. This week, the Biden Admin announced funds for crack pipe distribution to "advance racial equity."

The DNC creates the problems in our cities so they can solve them. How can anyone person or party lead when they do not even know what they stand for?
That is what I got from this post.

When alot of the democrat base thinks like this a pivot is simply not possible period . There are still a ton on the left who want cops gone so how is biden going to get tough on crime? He isn't.

"So if all these cops weren't needed for CRIME that day, doesn't that mean they aren't needed ANY day?" Sarandon wrote. A hashtag stamped on the part of the photo featuring the sea of officers said: "#abolishthepolice."

Sarandon is known for her progressive views.

It is easy to say the crap that she does on camera when you do not have to face the real world and its people.

LOL I thought this soros funded DA was the guy they all voted for. What exactly did they think was going to happen with him in charge.

Hollywood liberal elites are reportedly joining the effort to recall George Soros-backed, Los Angeles district attorney George Gascón (D), whose soft-on-crime approach has prompted a surge in homicides, robberies, and other violent offenses.

Among the showbiz liberals who have donated to the recall campaign are studio honcho Mike Medavoy and his wife, Irene Meadavoy; Oscar-winning Argo producer Grant Heslov; and former 20th Century Fox executive and producer Jonathan Sheinberg, according to documents obtained by Los Angeles magazine.

They are joined by a slew of other wealthy L.A.-area Democrats who are fed up with Gascón’s tenure as D.A. Others who reportedly donated to the recall include billionaires Ron Burkle and Marc Nathanson, as well as Hillary Clinton-supporter Jordan Kaplan.

As Breitbart News reported, far-left actress Rosanna Arquette has also expressed support to the effort to recall Gascón, recently tweeting an image from the Recall George Gascón effort.

The groundswell comes as L.A. County has become mired in violent crime, with high-profile murders taking place in once-safe neighborhoods on the westside. Jacqueline Avant, the wife of famed music executive Clarence Avant and mother-in-law of Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, was killed in a home invasion robbery late last year in an exclusive Beverly Hills neighborhood.

In January, 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer was stabbed to death while at work at an L.A. furniture store in the city’s high-end Hancock Park. The same month, 70-year-old Sandra Shells, who worked as a nurse at LA County-USC Medical Center, died days after authorities say she was attacked by a homeless man while waiting for a bus at downtown Union Station.

Gascón blamed the “system” for the murder of Avant, without mentioning his own lenient policies. When he took office in late 2020, Gascón promised to enact so-called criminal justice “reform,” which has included a refusal to prosecute a range of crimes such as trespassing, resisting arrest, drug possession, and making criminal threats.

His policies have also eased sentences for murder suspects, including a refusal to seek the death penalty. Like some other progressive D.A.’s around the country, Gascón received campaign funding from the networks of billionaire George Soros.

Homicides in the city of L.A. surged to their highest level in 15 years in 2021, the first year of Gascón’s tenure as county DA.

The recall effort is seeking to collect the nearly 580,000 signatures needed to trigger a recall election. If successful, a recall election would likely appear on the November 2022 ballot. It is at least the second recall effort against Gascón; a first one fell short.

The current campaign has received a boost following a case involving the 2014 sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl by a transgender individual. The defendant, who pleaded guilty, will likely only serve a short sentence due to Gascón’s maneuvering.

Gascón has reportedly become so politically toxic that even his supporters are staying mum. “Nobody wants to be out front on this,” an industry insider told Los Angeles magazine.

what this country has lacked for far too long, is entrenched idiots who won't admit it when they are wrong about something or someone.

that said, this whole soft on crime thing has been hijacked by saboteurs.

libs wanted drug possession and low level dealing, small time non violent victimless crimes and such not being prosecuted heavy handed, blacks not being stopped and searched for driving while black, and browns not having their lives ruined for not being born on the lucky side of man made lines on a map..

that's not what they got from the saboteurs with their own agendas.

and while Pubs correctly pile on for the lack of policing and prosecution of violent criminals, it's the Pubs more than anyone, though not by themselves, that totally did away with policing and prosecution of corporate and white collar crime, that's also at pandemic level in this country, at great loss to the citizenry as well, that has stolen way more money than all the street criminals put together, and taken more lives.

on a side note, G Soros is over ninety yrs old.

i highly doubt he's micro managing anything today.

those entrusted and funded by him to do right with the money and power he trusted them with and brought them, have done him a wrong in using said money and power extremely unwisely.

I have always been for prosecution of white collar criminals. You watch american greed and these guys who bilked people out of tens of millions get like 5 years in prison and are out in 2.5. It is a joke. But there is a reason things like carjackings are through the roof and as long as they left wing DA"s are in office nothing will change. As I said earlier the left wing DA in San Fran basically laughed at the mayor when she said she wanted to get tough of crime. The only way anything changes is if people like him and Gaston get voted out.

Is there anything that an NRA-backed republican will give in to when it comes to common sense gun legislation? Seriously.

For example, does it really make sense that gun shows and online sales allow people to forego background checks? Isn't that a pretty common sense check/balance on legal gun purchases?

This happened in a Red state and these facts might hurt your feelings:

Unlike the federal system, bond must be set under Kentucky law. We successfully argued for and received a higher bond commensurate with the seriousness of the offense. We successfully argued that if posted, the defendant should be on home incarceration. However, the criteria of release should not be the ability to access a certain amount of money," O'Connell said. "It should be the threat to the community and whether there is a history of non appearance in court. I’ve said previously that people should not be in jail just because they can’t afford bond or be released just because they can. We should have a system like the federal government where my office can provide evidence and a judge can decide. Kentucky current system does not allow that. Our office has kept the victim involved throughout this process.”

I tend to agree with you on this issue, but how would it work? In practice? If a guy does something really bad, violent, you set a cash bond he'll never reach. That ensures he's off the street and will show for court. If it's "minor" you set bond and he gets a lawyer and requests a reduction (10%) or he gets a bondsman. What's more that bond can pay the lawyer's fee via assignment. Then the guy is out for the 3 - 100 continuances that transpire until a deal can be worked out. If there's no cash bond is the person just released or do they have to sit in jail through all of the continuances? Are we letting low level felonies out without bond? What's the cutoff? So if a guy commits his first domestic violence does he get out or have to sit in county for 9 months waiting for a disposition because there's no bond he can pay to get out. I guess I don't get how it works without bond

The devil is always in the details. But attempted murder with a firearm would seem to be a pretty easy call. we have different levels of crimes, so we can have different levels of decisions on when bond should be available, I guess.

I hear ya. I just am thinking of the reality of how dockets move, or don't, and being stuck in county looking at a calendar thinking wtf.
