A good political day. Maybe Biden is shaping up to be what many of us hoped. A former cop and repub won big in Aoc's

Are you really this completely, slack-jawed, Kentucky sister-f*cking DUMB?

Everyone getting vaccinated PREVENTS infection that ALLOWS MUTATIONS TO HAPPEN, than then can lead to an entirely new pandemic.

Do you REALLY not grasp this, numbnuts?
Hey dumbshit, do you think even if everyone is vaccinated, no one will get it again or a variant appear? Do you think everyone in the world will get vaccinated, particularly those streaming across the border that you Dims want to keep open?

My niece's cousin was fully vaccinated and got the virus. Being vaccinated isn't some kind of magic, as you think it is.

Keep spewing your political bullshit, because that's all it is. Your scare tactics only work on other sycophants.

You and DANC need to quiet down your FAP-fest, or your Mom is going to yell at you down the basement stairs.
Once again, the person who claims 4 degrees is engaging in moronic insults on an internet board.

What a loon.

And it likely won't be until August, since no drug in the ~60 year history of the current approval process has been approved, fully, without a full year of phase 3 surveillance of adverse events.

Not any fast-tracked cancer drug, not AIDS drugs in the midst of that epidemic, not polio or smallpox vaccines, NOTHING.

It is how drug review WORKS.
No shit, dumbass. And yet you bitch about people not wanting to take it because it hasn't been approved yet.

You are really one dumb son-of-a-bitch.

Every bit helps
90% is more safe than 85%
85% is more safe than 80%
80% is more safe than 75%
75% is more safe than 70%

But there you sit, slack-jawed, saying

Thar he goes again, none a them there numbers is a hunnert, maw! Iffin it ain't no hunnert, it must be zero, right Maw? Right Cray? Right ole Blue?

That's how you learned to talk in Southern Indiana, hillbilly.

We're not talking about 'safer'. You're saying there would be no variant spread if everyone was vaccinated and you ignore people streaming across the border who aren't being tested.

You are a special kind of stupid.

Smallpox was way more contagious, way more deadly

Smallpox is estimated to have killed 300 million people in the 20th century and around 500 million people in the last 100 years of its existence, including six monarchs. As recently as 1967, 15 million cases occurred a year.

It was eradicated in under 20 years after that. Not every person was vaccinated, but enough so that every last pocket of disease died out as nobody within a few feet was unvaccinated.

Smallpox may have claimed 10x more lives than all human wars combined.

But, vaccines work.

You got caught trying to be cute by comparing covid with smallpox. And now you're backtracking.

Of course vaccines work. No one I know disputes that. But they're not infallible.

Now, go back to humping your sister, fraud.

The reasons why people crossing the border aren't vaccinated are not the same reasons why American citizens aren't vaccinated.

Yes, the more people who aren't vaccinated make it easier for the enemy of this war to survive and mutate.

Refusing a vaccine that has pretty dominantly shown to be effective weakens us as a country, and if this thing does mutate....the finger will deservingly be pointed at the anti-vaxxers.

Unfortunately this isn't simple darwinism.

LOL Liar! You know you're reading my posts.

Just admit I exposed you when you compared smallpox with covid. It will only hurt for a little while.

The AP looked at May data and found 0.1% of those hospitalized and 0.8% of those who died with Covid-19 that month were full vaccinated. That despite vaccinated people making up 45+% of the population.

Incredible.

So what you are saying is that the vaccine works? Huh.

On a serious note, the speed and effectiveness of the vaccine is mind blowing. Some really smart people worked their asses off and have saved millions of lives. Truly incredible.

Because it's not a coronavirus, idiot. It's why we can't control the flu.

I would have expected someone with 4 degrees to know that, but then, you're a total fraud.
The flu mutates far faster than Corona has, so we can't develop a single vaccine and stop it. So far we could stop Corona if we had enough people vaccinated worldwide.

But sequencing data suggest that coronaviruses change more slowly than most other RNA viruses, probably because of a ‘proofreading’ enzyme that corrects potentially fatal copying mistakes. A typical SARS-CoV-2 virus accumulates only two single-letter mutations per month in its genome — a rate of change about half that of influenza and one-quarter that of HIV, says Emma Hodcroft, a molecular epidemiologist at the University of Basel, Switzerland

The mutations have to be a concern. Read up on the Spanish flu. The people that ended up dying were largely young and healthy adults. The first wave of Spanish Flu was not that deadly. The second wave killed millions, and as mentioned, killed the 20 year old soldiers who were not obese or sedentary.

If the F-111's wings realigned by computer instead of manually, I'd throw that into the discussion. I like to fly low and fast.

As things are, I'll take an F-15 with all updates or a superhornet. Either way, I'm not entirely stupid -- I'd hire someone to go along with me and land it. This stuff is not a video game.
Landing is tricky, and why I would want a P38 over a P51. 51s were notoriously hard to land. But in a 38, the most likely obituary for me would be "he was killed out over Lake Michigan practicing dog fighting in the P38". I can't come up with very many more cool obits, assuming Elon doesn't want me to go to Mars (and he doesn't).

I hope I am being too cynical, but I have this feeling the infrastructure bill will fall apart. I hope I am wrong.
I’m missing something. What’s the point of this bipartisan “deal” when the Dems are going to pass a massive companion reconciliation bill on their own? How was there any bipartisan compromise? Posturing? Theatre? Bait and switch? I don’t see any bipartisan compromise

I read a couple years ago there are 20+ strains of flu in the world. Every year about August, the health officials predict which of the strains are likely to become active in the upcoming flu season.

Then, the officials authorize the manufacture of the vaccines, which takes till about Sept or Oct to be ready for injection. Each flu shot apparently contains vaccine to combat 4-5 strains of the flu.

Yep, and some years a flu we didn't expect to be dominate is dominate and the shot is pretty worthless.

Using random anecdotal rumors to question vaccine safety is ignorant nonsense.

People also know what this guy is saying isn't true because most of us now know lots of people that have been vaccinated and are just fine. These vaccines have defeated the deadly form of Covid-19 & are safe.

Biden threw all the people that actively reached out and made concessions to get a bipartisan deal under the bus with this nonsense. He will have no one to blame but himself if the infrastructure deal falls apart.

but the infrastructure deal shouldn't go through if it's tethered to a multi trillion dollar reconciliation deal. that's presenting the same thing that was previously rejected and just breaking it into two parts. what's more is it not the definition of broken politics to push through the largest budget plan since ww2 by reconciliation because the senate's 50/50 and won't support it. isn't that something that should have more bipartisan support? and who's pushing it - the articles i read point to progressives, a group with loud media support that continues to be repudiated by actual voters

If you ask millions of people about adverse effects after getting the flu vaccine or rabies shot, you will also get thousands of anecdotes about terrible outcomes. That doesn't mean those aren't safe, it just means in large samples people will confuse correlation with causation.

In the Leftist world here, you either accept the vaccine on blind faith now. Of course, a year ago, the VP was saying she'd never take a vaccine encouraged by Trump.

They've politicized the vaccine and are too blind to see it.

Yep. Two shots. No bad effects. Didn't even get a sore arm.

Also, if you list all the bad anecdotes together, the list appears endless, even when they represent a tiny tiny fraction of a vastly larger number.

Little reason to think there would be any significant long-term effects. The only thing that is left in your body after a few days is the memory of how to fight the virus. More importantly, the long-term effects of Covid-19 are just as unknown, but more evidence they could be bad.
