This guy has risen in the rankings very fast.....247's #12 player in Florida, #101 nationally........said to be a 'high priority' for Miami.

Love to see this. Any big lineman in Indiana should be ours. I always though we should also look at Illinois farm country for the Big lineman that don’t get exposure.

Three of those listed above have recently committed elsewhere.

The biggest 'news' is that S Kye Stokes has committed to OSU. He had been scheduled for an IU visit on 6/18.

The others are OT Sullivan Weidman to WV & TE De'Carlo Donaldson to Tulane.

I have heard some of the programs, could see OSU being one, will really put the arm on kids "If you want to commit now we have a spot, but if you don't commit this weekend, we'll offer it to others and can't guarantee if after that." Maybe can't do that to a Curry type recruit, but many good 3-4 star types they can. Some kids may buckle, some may say "not for me." I'm still bullish the kids who commit to IU want to come to IU and excited to do so. And that's a different caliber recruit now than in the past too which is nice!

One other thing about recruiting: If IU goes 5-0, with wins at Iowa and Penn St, and home over Cinci, then going into that Bye Week for recruiting / coaches visits, you don't think IU would have a ton of juice with kids knowing after another home win over MSU they have OSU for all the B10 marbles! Winning will help win all kinds of recruiting battles ahead. (And even if we don't win them all, sure we'll be doing well and the IU culture change is real.)

Former Florida State commit sets official visit.

Has LSU and Oregon visits lined up in June as well. 247 says he has a visit scheduled in September for FSU. Have a little competition for him.

Would be great if he pulled the trigger on his visit to IU and then shut the other visits down.

I'm pretty sure they thought they were leading for him. At least that's the vibe I got from their posters. I always wondered why IU wasn't interested? Was he not a good fit scheme-wise?

I read on a post that coaches didn't think he was a good fit for the defensive scheme.

We're in as good of shape with Joe Strickland, Trevell Mullen and Jacoby Spells as we can be as well, but we're definitely battling other schools there.

Greg Gaines is someone I could see popping for us after his visit. The staff would also like to get a couple offensive lineman aboard, mainly DJ Moore, Tyler Gibson, Carter Smith, Ryan Baer and Landon Livingston. I know Smith likes us a lot, and Moore and Gibson are both visiting us in June.

Any of the kids that are coming on officials are obviously serious about us, so we've got a chance. This could be our best class ever.

If I were to guess on who we were in the best shape in the class for a commit right now, I'd go with:

Richard Thomas
James Monds
Zane Durant
Omar Cooper

We're in as good of shape with Joe Strickland, Trevell Mullen and Jacoby Spells as we can be as well, but we're definitely battling other schools there.

Greg Gaines is someone I could see popping for us after his visit. The staff would also like to get a couple offensive lineman aboard, mainly DJ Moore, Tyler Gibson, Carter Smith, Ryan Baer and Landon Livingston. I know Smith likes us a lot, and Moore and Gibson are both visiting us in June.

Any of the kids that are coming on officials are obviously serious about us, so we've got a chance. This could be our best class ever.

We've got depth now on the OL, but we need an upgrade in talent. I think any two of the 5 OL you mention would be of benefit. I'm with those who are doubtful of Hiller's qualities as a recruiter, although I personally think he does a very good job of coaching them up.

I mentioned in the other thread that Anthony Black from TN is also visiting now...on 6/25. Reading up on him, 247 has IU, Babma, MSU & TN as his favorites on a very nice offer list (although he's a 3*). Looks like he'll most likely play DB in college, although he also played QB & WR in HS some.

Also saw somewhere that Pruitt, the Michigan OL, is planning to visit. Did not see a date.

WR Tommy McIntosh from Michigan will visit IU on 6/11. He's 6'4" or 6'5" and weighs app. 200 lbs. He's the prospect that I thought might grow into a TE, but I have no idea if that is what the coaching staff is thinking.

Peegs shows 29 names as official visitors now. Among them are committed prospects Kaden Turner & Richard Thomas. Another is TE Foley from OH, who has committed to TN. I assume that visit won't happen, but don't know for sure. If we could get commitments from 9 of the remaining 26, we'd have a great start on the class.

I came up with WR Rodney Harris II from OH, Keylen Davis, OT from Indy, OL Jackson Pruitt from Michigan, and OL Carter Smith from OH. I'm curious about OL Landen Livingston from IN.....he does not seem much interested in IU, or vice versa.

McIntosh is being recruited to play tight end. He really likes us so we'll see what happens.

Of that list, we're only really going after Smith and Livingston that I know of. Smith is setting up a official I believe but I don't know what day. Livingston is someone that staff definitely likes, but I get the feeling he's someone that could be a little further down the board then a couple other inside guys.

What did I say that is wrong? The staff liked Artis, obviously because they were bringing him in for a official. They are bringing in other kids that are interior players on the defensive side of the ball still, so we should be alright.

I found that Artis was doubled up on his visit date to us (at least) three days ago from open sources... He's not giving up premium info...
