Preaching to the choir. I've been talking about Shapiro/Beshear/(maybe) Whitmer for the better part of the last year. When Biden dropped out in the summer I was really hoping for an angle for either Shapiro or Beshear. I think both are good communicators who needed to win over moderate/conservative voters to become governor. In a perfect world, one of those guys would have come out of a primary after Biden announced he wasn't running for reelection almost 2 years ago.
They were too smart to shoot their shot during a guaranteed loser year. All serious contenders let Harris be the sacrificial lamb.
I am not sure why that hasn't been easy to become the narrative. To spin up a campaign in days was always going to be a fool's errand. Harris pretty much had to as veep. If anyone else did, there would have been a war at 11:59 against a sitting VP and no time to smooth over feelings by midnight. That person would lose their shot forever.
I honestly don't think Beshear or Shapiro would have lost had they gone through a full primary cycle. I think they wouldn't have had the incumbent stink on them and they could do what Harris should have done - toe the line of staying true to Democratic principles while distancing themselves from some of the unpopular things about the Biden Administration.

Van, don't be stupid. He was charged appropriately, and he was convicted. He never went into the Capitol. Others testified under oath at their trials that Epps actually told them NOT to go in. The bottom line is that CIs and Feds NEVER get prosecuted for doing their jobs. We also have the DoD IG report which says that none of the CHS (Confidential Human Sources - another term for Confidential Informants) were engaged in any criminal activity.
