Why The Democrats Lost/Why The Democrats Think They Lost

Just my opinions - why Harris lost to Trump - in order of impact:

1. Transgender issue - Demand for/support for transgender education in elementary schools in Florida and elsewhere/penises in female sports and female locker rooms/"Harris supports free transgender surgery for inmates" commercial
2. Cost-of-living
3. 8 years of calling everyone deplorable, immoral, Nazis, fascists, racists and garbage
4. Call for taxing unrealized capital gains - another poke in the eye of the union family who now watches their 401k just like a 1%er
5. The Fredo Syndrome - "we're smart"

Just my opinions - why Democrats think Harris lost to Trump:

1. Identity politics addiction + No. 3 above - "she is a black female in a racist, misogynist nation full of Nazis and fascists and garbage"
2. Vote fraud
3. No legitimate reason
Seem to be blaming the voters as ignorant, racist, misogynistic, and traitors to their gender (for women).
And, blaming the ignorant voters as not getting the right vision of Democracy (democratic party control) and voting for fascists.

Exit polls said economy and immigration. Social issues made it three strikes.

No failure on the campaign’s part to relate the vision with word salads (all organic, union harvested).

Closer than it should have been given the the GOP is right on most of the issues and the candidate the Democrats gave us was awful as was her campaign. Could anything be more stupid than her star-studded closing rallies? All that did was emphasize she couldn’t close this thing on her own.
They was a quip where Trump would have won 400 EC votes v. Biden. Not sure another GOP candidate would/could have done measurably better.

Project 2025 is coming, trumps revenge tour and day of reckoning is coming.

Project 2025’s purported definition of Trump’s Policy is a hoax. The director of the conservative think tank said in a televised live interview that the think tank created the positions as a think tank work product. It’s not a campaign position paper, just because MS NBC on air personalities claimed it was.

It’s not, but as a conservative there is a lot of it to like. I hope some of it happens.

To answer your title question, I cannot speak for Democrats as a whole, but I believe Democrats lost because Republicans gained more votes in states that added together have more than 270 electoral votes.

I see a lot of friends on Facebook complaining about how terrible Trump voters are. That is very annoying because it largely isn't true and it won't gain anything for the future.

CNN had a quote from a PA voter that the choice was between "preachy" and "crazy". They voted "crazy" because crazy wasn't talking down to them.

Harris needed an, "I feel your pain" moment, she didn't go there I think out of fear it would seem like she was dissing Biden. Frankly, she should have thrown Biden under the bus on an issue or two.

I think she should have created a plan to help childcare affordability and force Trump into that issue.

It's simple. More voters cared about the price of a gallon of gas and a Big Mac than character, country, and the rule of law. All the other stuff was way down the list.

Don't think so.

It was one man of poor character in the most powerful position, versus an entire administration and party honchos of poor character.

Voters chose the one, easier to keep an eye on.

Re your FB comment, I think that explains why some people moved one way or the other: they see more and more people they know being preachy or stupid or obnoxious about their particular party/candidate, and it turns them off and makes them go the other way. I know it's irrational, but I think it's a tribal instinct that social media is amplifying and exascerbating.

Guides much of my life

You guys won. Enjoy it.
The liberal pompous I am better than you attitude getting kicked in the rear is what I enjoy.

What I’ll enjoy more is when all the bogus criminal trials are thrown out or reversed by higher courts.

Watching live coverage of Jack Smith cleaning out his office might be the best of all.

You should be looking forward to it.

When you consider what the modern Democratic Party has become, you begin to understand how they lost touch with their base. At the home of a major donor, a billionaire who lives in a mansion overlooking San Francisco Bay, I listened to the speakers hoping to raise funds for the 2022 midterms. Waiters dressed in black with silver trays bounced between wealthy elites. The speakers outlined their strategy for winning the midterms and the 2024 election saying: “We no longer want to win the working class. We don’t need those people anymore. They’re gone forever. The future will be young Latinos and people of color.”

I was infuriated by this talk. I also thought: That is going to be a good way to get Donald Trump reelected.

I am just pleased that the electorate knew they were being viewed as complete idiots when the regime GOOSED INFLATION, ON PURPOSE, and called it the Inflation REDUCTION Act.

If the election had gone any other way, we would've known America was lost.

At least one good thing is now the electorate has seen the media playing along with it, and even covering up for Biden's dementia. Shameful disservice to country by our 'media'. Worse than the January 6th idiot rioters.

You are white so you are not worried. trump is not in office yet. Jim Crow is coming.

100% agree. People voting over 1st amendment concerns and the rule of law voted Republican. Ask Musk, Tulsi and RFK.

Winning the election didn’t canonize Trump. A lot of Americans - and people all over the world - don’t fully get why so many people would vote for an objectively horrible person.
Imagine a party and candidate whose ideas are so radioactive to a portion of the electorate that they would be feel compelled to vote for an "objectively horrible person"....

I don't think I'm far off with regard to most people's feelings toward Trump. There are definitely a lot of people who would never vote for him on the fact that he's immoral and a serial liar, but as last week proved, there are more people than we all thought who either have some sort of cognitive dissonance toward the horrible things he says and does and what they think he'll actually be able to do or just don't care what crap he spews.

Right. It’s us. Not you. You haven’t learned a thing

This election was a resounding victory for the country. It shows common sense still exists

Like I said elsewhere, MAGAs are like PUkes who couldn't enjoy their basketball team last season because they were too busy worrying about what IU fans were talking about, and chanting "IU sucks" at all their games. (Are MAGAs the Libs "little brother"?)
MAGA members on this board have whined more since the election than they did after Trump got his ass kicked in 2016.

I hope he follows through 100 percent on all his plans. I really do. Mass deportations, more tax cuts, tons of tariffs, etc. I look forward to inflation going through the roof. It will be so fun to watch. Can't wait.

There’s some talk about the right’s alternative media machine and the lack of a similar thing on the left.

There’s a reason for this. The right had no choice but to develop its own alternative media - they’ve long been given short shrift (at best) in traditional media…which is overwhelmingly center-left in nature.
Center left is being generous. I still can’t get over how people miss the blatant poke at the middle on media at every chance they get. Uneducated, racist etc. This is a big reason.

Each side demonizes the other. On here, you saw MAGAs portraying Libs (shitlibs) as some sort of cartoon level evil threat to the very fabric of the country. Yet, here I sit, having worked my entire life, married faithfully to the same woman for 37 years, raised 2 kids, in the church, no less (and their mother and I have both taught Sunday school, and held positions of leadership), pay my taxes, never committed a crime, etc, etc, etc. Yet, somehow, I am going to cause the downfall of this great country I was lucky enough to have been born in, and so is my family.
My point is, don't try to portray the whole name-calling phenomenon as a one way street, or something only Biden did with his "garbage comment (not a good thing, obviously). If name calling was such a turn off, Trump wouldn't have gotten a vote, except from those who sort of like those kinds of things. As it is, Biden did it, and his side lost...bigly.
You all are missing the point. The middle doesn’t care about the left and right demonizing each other. The middle cares about what’s in their house and school. They also dont like to be told what to do. They don’t like being looked down upon. They don’t like being called things they aren’t. The media and the lefts base have done this for years. Still can’t wrap their heads around it. Still calling us in the middle racist/rapists.

So who is in charge of the Democrat party at this stage of the game who can determine what went wrong and how to chart a new course?

Like a football team who just got shellacked and their coach had already been fired going into the fourth quarter.
