why don't we just go buy their whole team? with the covid year everyone should have at least a year of eligibility left. no way a school like that could outbid us.

Not a bad idea. Outside the box thinking there. May even want to attempt a farm system so that teams with money just 'call up' guys from the MEAC or the SoCon or something.

We are partially doing that in football so we might as well go all the way in hoops.
Pretty sure we did that in football. Bought their coach first, the rest followed. (Not too far off from reality)
Money isn't everything. There are actually Players out there Who prefer to play in a system that is fun (promotes fast break and 3 point shooting), play for a Coach Who can teach Them things to improve their game, and a Coach Who is capable of leading the Team to a post Season Tournament before their athletic eligibility is exhausted.
