if freeman was the best player in the portal, realistically what kind of team can you build. I know there are 16 teams still playing but I doubt their best players enter the portal. the mid majors got raided pretty good last year. just don't want to sit through a shit season
The current players could excel under a new coach but their attitudes are probably so poor that it would be best for everyone to move on. Just the opinion of a casual fan.
this year wasn't great but at least had meaningful games and should have made the tournament. do you want to watch a 9-22 team next year
Maybe he did. How do you know who he "recruited"? Perhaps he isn't looking at the same level of compensation some are accustomed to.

I'm sure none of them wanted to play for a fan base that actually understands basketball and holds them accountable.

Nobody here really knows who he wanted to keep, if anybody. But I’m guessing he spoke with each of them, and based on that conversation and film he has watched, unless there was mutual interest, the player went to the portal. I suppose it’s possible some of them winds up back at IU as maybe the sticking point was NIL, and if they don’t garner what they seek, they may take a lower NIL. Who knows?
At the end of the day, if CDD wants a player and they want to be here, I welcome them. I don’t really have anything against our players. But there are only a few I would miss, including ones who have no eligibility left.

If NIL is the issue, I have no problem with CDD taking a hard line (though technically he doesn't manage NIL, right?). I cannot imagine any other school paying them the same or more than they were getting here especially after last year's performance. They are welcome to learn that reality as a hard smack in the face.
And he's exactly the kind of player I hope we build this program with going forward.
Agree, if they were interested in staying, then they should be talking with the new staff before entering the portal.

I don't see anyone on the roster who I think is what CDD is looking for. I could be wrong. And I won't be disappointed with an entirely new team.

I like the look of Tucker, but don’t know the reasoning of being in Woodson’s doghouse. I’d give him the benefit of the doubt if it was just because he was a freshman, and still had lots to learn/experience. But there was a rumor/fact that he blew off the handle at the coaches. If that’s the case, then bye-bye
I would not be surprised if entering the portal is solely about testing the waters to see if they can make more money elsewhere.
I've heard the same about coaches and staff from above the coach, too much bad mojo. Tucker is the odd one, wondering if the chatter about him telling this staff what he thought about them is keeping him in the mix.
