Walz first speech as VP pick

Standing there spewing lies. I do like his voice tho. Sounds like gene Hackman. But he’s a terrible candidate. Progressive liar. Shapiro would have been much better.

I suspect this will be a razor close election. Two terrible tickets
"spewing lies - please list all the lies you believe he told. thank you

I like what he had to say and how he said it. Solid pick.

The same tired old leftist fear porn tropes, except this time sprinkled with the Project 2025 magic dust. Pick us or the other guy will:

"rig the system to benefit the super rich."
"raise costs on middle class families"
"take away your healthcare"
"gut Social Security and Medicare"
"ban abortion nationwide"

I only knew a little bit about him, have seen him on cspan when he was in the house--just thought he was okay. Have paid more attention to him in the last few weeks and find myself oddly wanting to give him a hug. Very folksy, charming, and everything he's ever done has been to service, protect and educate people at lower paying jobs. I found it very hard to dislike him.

He wasn't my first pick - that would be Shapiro given how important PA is - but man, he made quite the first impression on the national stage with that speech. Contrasting him with JD Vance doesn't bode well for team Trump.

And as an aside, Trump has ruined countless political careers when he pulls them into his orbit, but this whole couch screwing thing really takes the cake. Nevermind the fact that it isn't true. If Trump/Vance don't win in November, him screwing couches will go be a story people tell similar to Catherine the Great with her horse and Taft getting stuck in the bathtub.

In this day and age, truth is only what you want it to be......if people believe he is a couch banger, well he must be one. Genies never go back into the bottle.

The guy was a head high school football coach who won a state title AND served as the faculty advisor for the school's gay-straight alliance club. And he's also a meat and potatoes Midwest guy. Talk about checking a lot of boxes and covering a lot of ground.

Razor close? Nah.

Biden beat Trump in the Electoral College 306-232. We'll see something similar this November, with a wider margin of victory than what was seen in '20 in some of the swing states. This election won't be particularly close.

Energy. Enthusiasm. Momentum. Harris/Biden has it all. The crowd in Philadelphia yesterday reminded me of Obama 2008 and some of Trump's rallies in the fall of 2016. The line to get in stretched several city blocks, and the crowd practically blew the roof off the building with the noise. Whether you like them or not, this is a hot ticket.

$350 million raised in the two and a half weeks since Harris launched her campaign. Another $25 million after Walz was named yesterday morning. Hundreds of thousands of new campaign volunteers on the ground. Harris is polling exceptionally well with young voters and independents. Walz's story (farmer, hunter, vet, college-educated on the GI bill, high school teacher, state-championship football coach - - then to Congress and Governor of MN) is like something out of a movie. He's an everyman and will be a huge asset in the rust belt states.

Harris/Walz will get another bounce from the convention in a few weeks and then it's right into the election, with early voting beginning in a number of states next month.

Meanwhile, the Chaos Candidate continues with his gloom and doom persona and "American Carnage" messaging. MAGA loves it, of course, but his act - - like the man himself - - is old and tired. He's got a big problem.

Will any of that bring prices down, a slowing economy, etc. no. And now the left added what will be perceived as a far left vp to go with a far left prez. It’ll be very close

From where I sit….it all comes down to Wisconsin. In particular, the young adults

For what it's worth, the Harris campaign team now includes several former Obama campaign staffers, including David Plouffe. Those guys really know how to run an election. And it can't be overstated - a lot of people really hate Trump. And Vance hasn't hit the ground running with him doubling and tripling down on his single, childless cat lady talk.

This has been a wild presidential campaign season and who knows what the next 2-3 months will bring, but in the last couple of weeks Team Trump has totally lost control of the narrative. And they can't stop putting their feet in their mouth. Maybe Vance is into that too.

Sorry, but as of today - and the last couple of weeks - the Democrats have total control of the narrative. Trump and Vance aren't doing themselves any favors. Both think they're a lot smarter than they are and Trump's NABJ disaster and Vance saying, yeah he actually meant what he said about single, childless cat ladies is torpedoing their campaign.

Also, Vance being a couch f*$ker isn't going away anytime soon. No one wants to vote for that ;)

Yeah. He didn't even get a bounce from the shooting.

I was bummed when it wasn't Shapiro. Honestly though, burying a very talented, younger and more moderate candidate like Shapiro in the VP role probably wouldn't have been what's best for Dems or for the country. We need more people like him, on both sides of the aisle to stay in positions of power and influence. Not sure the VP role would have been that for him.

As I'm getting to know Walz, and see Harris strategy, I'm enjoying the "vibe". I suspect the more I learn about him though, and the more unprotected events we see Harris and he at, the less I'm going to like them. Positivity and hope are great, and I do think we need those things right now. But in the end, the job is about leading, making the right decisions no matter how difficult they are, keeping your composure and having a steady hand in times of chaos and crisis... Talking about lifting people up is good campaign rhetoric. How they handle the onslaught of negativity, slams, cheap shots, lies...actual legitimate concerns with their records, etc... over the next 3 months will show me a lot on how they might end up leading. I'm wary they'll be able to handle it well.

The good news though if your now a Harris/Walz ticket supporter...we already KNOW that Trump is awful at all of those things.

Minnesota was ground zero. 1,500 bldgs damaged. Minnesota bail fund. Two progressives from the squad dumped. Much has changed and the far left has some stink to shed too. This is a far left ticket.

Like I said it’ll be a close election. Was reading about musk’s pac and the targeted tech campaigning they are doing to support trump. It’ll all be interesting. Shapiro would have given a much better perception to a move to the middle. But both sides doubled down

Vance is a head case.

Just started. Let the machine get to work on them. That shine will wear off

That Vance dry humping a couch became a refutable part of his past, people are going to make fun of it in the short term. If along the way it triggers people who are normally gullible to begin with, even better.

Great point about not wanting to hide a rising star like Shapiro. I was also hoping he'd be the pick, but I'm warming up to Walz in a hurry.
