Actually since you said Germany in the 70s, I WAS there since I arrived in 1979, which is at the tail end of the decade but still qualifies as the "70s"...
We may not have been in the exact same area, but it's precisely because I WAS there that I answered your ridiculous post. I actually lived in the German economy with German landlords and had German supervisors and co-workers when I worked for AAFES. So I'm as qualified as anyone to speak on the subject of German/American relations since I interacted with both the US Military and the German populace on a daily basis...
