My voting experience...and some thoughts

How in the hell, while turning loose all of our super educated MBA’s and pHd’s do we continually build less efficient processes? At some point it doesn’t seem to be accidental. That point is now, me thinks.
Bring me 4 farm kids that grew up milking cows to run EVERYTHING from now on! We deserve that!!
Those farmers are practical:

Graceann Toberman, who has a farm, is also the election clerk in the town of Magnolia, Wis. Preparing for Election Day, she taped plastic spoons to pens to keep them from rolling off the shelf in the voting booths before the polls opened.

Somewhere in the NY Times page -

Damn. Why would anyone choose this over vote by mail?

They send me a ballot. I open my laptop and research every candidate and issue. I fill in the circles, sign, and return. No trip to the polls, just a trip to the mailbox. Easy peasy.

I never thought of voting by mail until the pandemic. Now I see no reason to vote any other way, unless I were to volunteer to be a poll worker, which is a noble task. My Mother was a poll worker.
The majority of voters in Arizona vote by mail, and the system is great. I get a text message letting me know when my ballot is being mailed. I fill in my ballot when I have time to sit down and do the research (our ballot was four pages this year). I sign my ballot and stick it in the mail. I receive a text when the ballot has been received and another text when my ballot has been authorized and counted. Arizona has been voting by mail for decades and the state GOP originally introduced it.

Not slow at all. We knew Biden won Arizona within a day. It was all the crazy state GOP crap that spent millions of public dollars on multiple unnecessary audits. We have some real wacko GOP folks here in the wild, wild west.

Heard Lake on the radio claiming all kinds of hi-jinks going on in Maricopa. That's the kind of shit that gets raised and delays certifying.

That's antiquated. We can go to any polling place in the county. Took like 10 mins.
I was shocked to discover that Indiana doesn't even have a uniform system. In some counties, you can just go to whatever location is convenient. In other counties, you have to go to the location assigned to your precinct.

I did a 2 second search and they said it could take as long as two weeks. That’s unacceptable. I didn’t look but apparently some fckd law put in by pubs

Not sure what it is in Monroe, but I think it's the latter. I've voted early at the downtown vote center for the last several elections.

No doubt there's some shit that allows any numbskull make some bullshit claim and they have to treat it seriously.

Lake is a great example of why a red state has elected three Senators, a Governor, a Secretary of State, an Attorney General, a County Sheriff, and others from the Democratic Party in the past few years. People HATE her. She's unqualified and divisive. Even Republicans enjoy voting against her.

I think we switched to this either 4 or 6 years ago. Had to go to your specific precinct before. Some of it I'm sure is based upon tech that the county has implemented... Being able to get your specific districts ballot regardless where you are in the county.

They scanned my license, had me confirm my address and sign on a screen with your finger. Sorry @dbmhoosier I'm positive my signature didn't match

It printed a sheet of basically blank paper with just my name and a barcode printed on the top of it. You went into the booth, fed the paper into it.... Then made your selections on the touch screen. After you confirmed it... It printed the choices onto the paper ballot and returned it to you. You then walked towards the exit and fed the paper into the tabulator.

Doesn't really matter. The calls made by the news media have always happened before anything was certified. Certification is a mere technicality. The exit polls combined with county- and precinct-released results will tell us who won, just like every year.

Super educated MBAs don’t go to work for county elections.

You can bet the farm that Fox won't call AZ -- or anyone else -- for Harris before everyone else. They made that mistake once, and Hannity didn't like it. Everything has to be run by Sean now.

Then ignore Fox. Whatever you say about the various networks, the only thing that matters tonight is that the decision desk is independent.

At least we won't have Dan Rather making the call on a state as Democrat when the heaviest Republican district (the Florida panhandle) still has an hour to vote. Yeah, that was 'accidental' I know.

We have the same process in California. Very efficient.

I do get overwhelmed with receiving the ballot verification for the thousands of ballots I mail in to swing states, though. 😉
