Truly unbelievable

How is this worse? The Afghan Army surrendered en masse, of course the victors got all their weapons, supplies, money, everything. How is this news to you? Were we supposed to ask Afghanistan for all their weapons back before we left the country?

I had some finance friends that did visits to Bagram AFB (and Baghdad too, for that matter).... that we attempting to setup modern payment systems (EFT). But it was a bit of a lost cause as most local contractors still required payment in hard cash for whatever random project. So they would be flying pallets of cash like this on cargo planes into these countries all the damn time. Was a real problem for a long time, as we had our soldiers traveling around with bags full of thousands in cash constantly.

And we know up and down the line Afghan officials skimmed cash off the top. Might explain why they required hard cash. And why cash would be easily found by the Taliban.

The fact that Biden and his people thought the Afghan Army would stand and fight tells me how out of touch they are. If they knew the Afghan Army would run for the hills, surely they wouldn't have left billions of dollars of cash and military equipment behind??

Piss poor Intel is what Joe was operating on; he should be impeached!

Yup and Trump had said he was going to do the same thing so this was going to happen regardless of who was president...

If we had pulled out all the weapons and money, you would be here demanding Biden be impeached for leaving the Afghans unable to defend themselves.

isn't this part of the premise of "Shooter" (TV show, not movie)?

This is from the Financial Times Oct 14, 2020, about a month BEFORE the US election...

" Afghanistan’s top peace negotiator says Washington has given the Taliban the upper hand in talks after Donald Trump pledged to withdraw all US troops by Christmas. Abdullah Abdullah, who is leading the Afghan government’s peace negotiations with the militants, told the Financial Times in an interview that there was still uncertainty over the drawdown of troops.

He blamed the confusion on the looming US presidential election. “Nobody has given any clarity,” said Mr Abdullah, referring to the US withdrawal. The Taliban who thought “that if the US withdraws then they can come back by force . . . they might see it in their advantage”.

Now here is the KEY part...

The Taliban welcomed Mr Trump's tweet announcing the decision last week. The group’s senior leadership told CBS News that they hoped the president won re-election and would “wind up US military presence in Afghanistan”.

So who was operating on piss poor intel?

On March 8, less than 1 1/2 mos into Biden's Presidency, NPR filed this report...
The article centered around the Biden Administration's threat to the Afghani's that unless stalled peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan Govt showed some progress the US might decide to FOLLOW THE TRUMP ADMIN POLICY of withdrawing all US troops by Trump's May 1 deadline...

"U.S.-sponsored talks between Afghanistan's government and the Taliban have foundered over the past year as fighting between the two groups has continued to escalate and divisions within the Kabul government have prevented a coherent policy toward the Taliban."

Now notice how on March 8 2021, the NPR article does not say the stalks stalled over the past month? Rather they say the talks have stalled over the past YEAR. And who was POTUS for the past year?

This is why it's instructive to destroy an uninformed post like yours with actual links, including what the Afghani Govt was saying about Trump's DEAL, while Trump was still President. So are you going to respond with FACTS, or stick to your pathetically ill-advised attempt to portray Trump as the "hero" here?

You are out of your mind if you think Donald Trump would've stood for what has transpired in Afghanistan. Quit trying to lay blame on a man who isn't even in office; Biden occupies the White House thanks to people like you!!

Biden is the president, the ole buck stops with Joe. The spin doctors/AKA Joe voters, are doing their best to justify a cruddy vote on their part.

Donald Trump said he was going to pull out of Afghanistan this year if he was re-elected. It's not like people are making that up.

I would still vote for Biden over Trump. I would vote for pretty much anyone over Trump and be able to live with it just fine.

He's got a year or so before he resigns in disgrace to change your mind.

Sort of shooting someone in times square, there nothing biden can do to be worse than Trump. Trump made the vote very easy. You must have hit your head if you think Biden will resign. That's about like assuming Trump will treat women with respect.

“It wasn’t the Taliban” will be the party line. We will slink back behind the gates, wrap up evacuations for those onsite already and leave many behind.
Nah, I think the line will be close to "the Taliban cannot control the extremist elements in Afghanistan so we are forced to take action to prevent further attacks on Americans".

How long we stay this time, who knows.....
