Recruiting is at levels never seen at IU.
It appears that many recruits like the family based program that TA is instituting.
The breakthrough year has not happened yet but as I posted on the football forum, TA has the second best first 2 years winning % of any IU coach since WW2.
I like what I am seeing but obviously he needs to get it done on the field.
I didn't say ANYTHING about Archie building ANYTHING.
If you just want to look at the first two years to determine if a hire is a "home run" or not then Mike Davis and Kevin Ollie were both "home run" hires. With a few more seasons worth of results, both showed that is was not the case. Those were just the first two that came to mind of having immediate success followed by mediocre results. There are also plenty examples of coaches starting poorly then doing really well. Will Miller be one of the latter? It's too early to tell, which is my point. Two years just isn't enough time to determine if a coach will ultimately succeed or fail. There are certainly plenty of reasons to question if he can turn it around but way too early to call it a failure.

We prioritized brooks over him. His family has said that crean never recruited him. Let’s do a fact check before you quote my post next time.
Those statistics are exactly why "building a program" should not take four years. if archie can't get it done this year i see little hope moving forward with him. that said, to a fault i tend to be pessimistic, and i do not blame anyone for hiring archie. at the time he seemed like a good hire. anyone who thought we were going to get someone better was being naive. hopefully this year he can elevate the game of those already in the program and reach the tourney. we seem to be adding size, which is already a plus over last year. further, not having a star to lean on can get "average" players to play harder - better team spirit etc. this year or bust....

Gun to your head, does Archie get IU to a final four or beyond in the next oh let's say 6-7 seasons? Yes or no. Your Uncle Fred said he expects this kind of results.
Surely you weren't in a coma a short few years ago. Go look at some threads back then and think for yourself for once. IU is not going to release that type of information. It doesn't work like that.
Flagpole Fred is the one making those words. I'm just looking for any sort of evidence if that's what we really have. So far, nothing even close. Big boy programs don't mess around for too long if things are not shaping up fairly quickly. Some much needed improvement is needed after finishing worse in the BiG standings than the season before.

Your lack of confidence is a tell.
You think Archie was the only person in talks with IU? If you believe that, you're better off tapping out quickly. This could get ugly for you.

How long did it take you to know that Tom Crean wasn’t up to the job? If it took you two years, you probably should consider deleting your account. And if it took you less than two years, then why the hypocrisy?
The truth is that it is too early to tell about Archie. He needs more time to prove he can or cannot handle the IU job. He has good credentials from his previous HC jobs. He seems to recruit fairly well. (Don't follow recruiting too closely because it is more misses than hits). So far, the end product on the court, all excuses aside, has not met expectations.
There have been flashes of brilliance, but the current team is too young to compete at the top level of the BIG. With all the injuries last year, the fact that IU was any place other than last shows promise. Although with Morgan and Langford on the team, and argument can be made that they should have done better. Keep in mind that the BIG seems to demand more maturity along with raw talent to place higher.
Unlike Crean, Archie is likeable, and seems significantly more organized when he approaches recruiting (or so I've heard). It remains to be seen if he has sufficient in-game X&O capability. My advice is to wait another two years before you make a judgement on Archie.

Not sure if you even followed IU then but, if you did, did it really take you two years to see that Crean wasn’t up to the job? One would hope you were able to see he was not.

I would love to hear about your experience in hoops! Playing experience? Coaching? Scouting? Friends that might be coaches? Have you watched your niece play church league games? Maybe picked her up from practice? Or do you have season tickets and watch some games on TV? Truth is that if you had any real experience then you wouldn’t be so clueless.
