This is what progressivism has given us

I take issue with the title of the thread. This isn't progressivism. It's faux Bro enlightenment. It's taking an ugly chick home from the bar and then patting yourself on the back for giving her a much needed win.

A real progressive change to the swimsuit issue would be to do away with it entirely.

Provides high paying jobs for the women that want to have millions of men ogling them for their looks. You’re not going to suggest that those poor girls just don’t have any choice & that’s the only way they get paid are you? Who actually has the power in that dynamic?

Before it’s done away with, will you check out the inevitable Trans women issue?

It’s all relative. You can find tons of more attractive women on Instagram that are healthy.

but the biggest issue with your statement is that it’s not her problem. It’s our problem. Obesity is one of the primary factors of our runaway healthcare costs.

I see what you did there. Good job.

I am sure that even the good-looking women who don't pose in little or no clothes have always had an employment advantage over less attractive women in, well, just about everything: getting that first job interview, working as receptionists, working at a bank, getting hired as a man's (or woman's) secretary, and on and on.

Not just women, people who are considered attractive in general tend to get the job, get better reviews, and make more money.

Big Girl Banger!

I agree you may be a "Big Girl Banger".

This tread is hilarious as it quickly turned into a medical/health. The seriousness of this forum is laughable not the group I'm calling on Friday night to hit the local watering hole.
TDH, there have been Friday nights which turned into Saturday mornings when the Water Cooler took on many of the same characteristics found at a local Watering Hole.

Dude, many of us are friggin' married with kids. We aren't any fun these days.

Speak for yourself. I've got a really fun weekend planned with the wife. Actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time....

Don't tell me I am not fun.

There are millions of obese women in the country. There are also millions of obese men. It's much more of a stigma for women, though. Exponentially more women than men have body image issues and eating disorders. Eating disorders among American girls and women is reportedly at staggering levels and became even worse during the pandemic. I've seen multiple instances in my own extended family.

While you're apparently jarred by it, an obese woman on the cover of a magazine should not be that big of a deal. On the other hand, if the cover helps prevent just one girl or young woman from getting sick or dying from an eating disorder, or from taking her own life because she hates herself for being fat, then SI has done a real public service.

Do you have young daughters? If so, you may want to rethink your approach.

And how many examples of obesity exist in your extended family? I don't want to encourage ED (for @mcmurtry66), but it's not exactly good for one's health to be obese. It has also been proven to lead to serious behavioral health issues (depression, anxiety), obvious physical health issues and not-so-obvious physical health issues (fatigue/tiredness, inability to do certain activities, etc.).

You do your research, and I'll do mine.

Of course, there is a little precedent for what you suggest, even without nips:

There's a change in societal norms among the young where "thick" is in. It's not just a Purdue thing anymore. Though I find fatties unattractive, who am I to judge others sexual preferences. WGAFF?

Plus, I don't doubt for a second that many of the above claiming this to be some type of political statement and being offended, have wives that are fatter and uglier or soon will be.

Especially the Trumpers. We've all seen the hippo herds at Trumpapalooza, not to mention you over fed waddling walrus lookin' MF...

lmao ...

You are mostly right but it’s hard to take you seriously when you mispell thicc

Are they shaming beer guts now? This is getting serious.
Dude... We are so 1990. One day soon, with the growing population of trans'ism's, they will wish they had this Dad bod back to enjoy.
I hope they know that I just may not care anymore, when that time comes. They just don't know what they are missing out on.

JDB, you seem like a guy who works hard at being fit and healthy.

Wondering what your BMI might be.

I’m old enough to remember the days of Kathy Ireland and a Rebecca Romijn.

we’re a nation with an obesity epidemic and we’re celebrating obesity for wokeness’ sake. Our healthcare costs are mathematically higher by a significant amount because of our obesity rate.

Oh, and of course I would. But that isn’t the point.
OH MY LORD!!! I can't unsee that.

Not on obesity, the hope is it will improve eating disorders. Teen girls have a high significant percentage of eating disorders. 2.7% overall, but much higher among girls. If shame does not lead to lower obesity rates, maybe ending it will lead to lower rates of eating disorders. Or maybe drug use, Bertinelli said she took cocaine in her youth because it kept her thin.

It just isn't fat girls that have body issues, some are thin, some are athletic build. They have an irrational fear of being fat. Karen Carpenter was never obese, though as a teen she was overweight. Somewhere her mind decided starving to death was preferable to overweight.
You think THAT woman in THAT bathing suit will improve eating disorders????

If anything it will make things worse.

Can’t “dysfunction” mean things like irrational, inappropriate, and inopportune boners (like when you’re hugging grandma)?

Asking for a friend.
That cover will certainly cause some kind of dysfunction. And not in an inappropriate boner way.

yes and no. I try to make sure I don’t get too out of shape, but I have three kids and work stupid hours some weeks. I haven’t checked BMI in ages but according to an online calculator, I’m a 29-29.5 depending on the day.

I was probably 32-33 in college when I was lifting aggressively.
