The Music Thread

Watching this live was one of the more moving performances I can can recall, given the timing of things. I have always enjoyed U2, but this performance was off the charts for me.

3. Another row drops down. Click on the image next to the smiley face...when you hover over it, it says "Media".

See if that works.

Like a lot of bands it's been cleaned up in the studio. Stones were also barely functional. Beatles though were the very rare pros among rock bands. I'm a Stones> Zep> Beatles > Who... kind of person. Zep was also known to be horrendous live.

I don't hate them or anything, I just like picking on them.. The Who, Eddie Van Halen, Lindsey Buckingham, Metallica, Mumford and Sons and Red Hot Chili Peppers all do things that are just easy to laugh at .. and pick on.

I also enjoy making fun of Phish's lyrics, as we all should. Great sounding band... really really dumb lyrics.
Page to me was a hack. One good solo. Phish was good but god I hate them. Those bands just show you that you don’t have to be good all the time. Just good once.

Generally agree though I don’t think they’ve ever taken themselves too seriously. Also trey shouldn’t sing. Jerry figured out having someone else do the heavy lifting on vocals made a hell of a lot of sense. And it was still always Jerry’s band.

Still having problems getting into a lot of the 3.0 sound. Some of its great. Some is boring. Trey off opioids has had an effect on their sound. Sometimes good as he’s not wasted and drooling on himself. But 95-03 was amazing.
Saw them at farm aid in Chicago. Trey was awesome. I liked the 3 piece with Steve Earl. Fun day with lots of stuff floating around. What happened under the covers…stayed under the covers. 🤣

Tried to be a fan of The Who but it’s just not for me. Same thing with John Mulaney. People love him and he’s good but just not for me.
Well I'd agree if it wasn't for Whos Next, Tommy and Quadrophenia... Oh and some of Odds and Sods... Eliminate those, and I just can't see why anyone might regard them as anything more but pedestrian... Good but not great...

Sunday calls for special Rock N Roll reverence... One Icon presenting another...

From 1971, The Johnny Cash show...

And since I was actually in the Pit that night in St Paul when the "Crazy Canadian" made a surprise appearance...

I only worked for United at the Reservation Center in Bloomington for about 2 yrs before they closed it and laid us all off. But in that short time I was able to see at least 6 shows that I'd never have been able to see otherwise, even though I hate flying...

Electronic drum sets with headphones are your best friend.

Piano is great for a starter too.
@mcmurtry66 get her a drum set up like these guys. Also, what the two of these dudes do with a little technology is pretty cool. They basically are doing remixes of their own work sometimes on the fly with tmsounds from the audience.

I don’t know how to do it other than as a stupid link. Yes I’m a dumb dumb.
All I do is copy and paste and it works for me on most links. The tech stuff is waayyy beyond my pay grade...

Every now and then I find myself back in church...
