Tariffs

They were out of Columbus oh too. Like Wendy’s. The founder of Wendy’s franchised Arthur treachers. Then somewhere down the line mrs pauls bought them
Looks like there's just 2 stores left. Both up in the Cleveland & Akron area.

I'm trying to remember if I've ever eaten at one. I haven't been to a LJS or Cappy D's since the 80s in Bloomington, so I doubt I ever ate at an Arthur Treachers.

I heard of it but not sure either. Burger chef. There were a few that didn’t survive.

Trump says a lot of things. I think they'll be implemented a lot differently. Will it be good for the economy? No. Will it have a meaningful impact? No.

For example @hookyIU1990 how bad were Biden's recent tariff increases? Also, isn't it amazing when Biden increases tariffs, they're still somehow Trump's tariffs🤣

@twenty02 @JamieDimonsBalls

What's the free trader response to this? That we're only harming American consumers? Or we can't trust Trump to do it intelligently? That it might spark a trade war and stall the world economy? Govt is picking winners and losers? Some combo of all of the above?

That's why Kamala was running to change things from the previous 3.5 years of horrible policy.

What are stupid consumer products? It’s not all Walmart junk. It’s big box home improvement stores. It’s electronics. It’s cars.

Think about cars. Average price is $50k now. Through in a big ole tariff on all those Japanese and Korean cars. People will go nuts.
Even very basic stuff. How many coffee beans are harvested in the good old USA? None, basically.

Trump will drive up the cost of your morning Joe. It's more taxes for consumers, plain and simple.

Is Arthur Treachers still a thing?
Back in the day I was a Captain D's fan. Way better than Long John Silver's or Arthur Treachers. I have no idea if they are still around, if their quality has slipped, or if they were always bad and my teenaged taste buds just didn't know better.

There's one on the main drag in Bedford. I've never tried it. Once about every six months I'll get a hankering for LJS's, but I almost always regret it.

That was our family go to for a "trip to town" as a kid. My dad would get the Super Chef and I still remember when I was deemed capable of handling a Big Chef and fries.

The Big Chef sandwich was badass. And the fries were the best I ever recall having. Pretty sure Burger Chef got bought out by Hardee's. BC was the go-to fast food in the small armpit town I grew up in. No drive thru though -- back then drive thrus weren't even a thing. Drive-ins were where it was at.

Burger Chef and Burger Queen were good eats in the 70s.

Maybe my Dad took us there since they were the cheapest. I think Burger Queen had a 2-for-1 night and we went then.

I sort of remember the commercials but don’t remember the food at all

I think the Big Chef was the first to use the double decker with a center slice of bread, like the Big Mac, but before.

I think I'd enjoy it there. Although I've heard the food sucks.
I’d absolutely love to live there for a year and take in all the matches etc. I have at least 50 friends from England. Probably 45 chose never to go back. Fwiw
Horrible weather. Like all the time.
No toast and beans?

SIL lives in Manchester. Been a couple times. Once around Christmas (2015 if i recall). Manchester is near Scotland for the geographically challenged. Walked around in a sweatshirt each day just checking shit out. This was a suburb called Accrington.

The weather is, admittedly dreary, but **** man Indiana suck balls for 5 months a year. Shits walkable. It's one of a few places I would consider relocating. Join the local cricket club (old men drinking club really). Take in some 5th tier football.

Just incredbily laid back opposed to the US.

Food is shyte though.

I’d love to go around and take in all the old historic stadiums and culture. One of my good buddies grew up playing on the same team as Ryan giggs. Now he lives in Naperville lol
