There will be Terrance Shannon/Tyrese Hunter level guys to get. Might even be those 2 players lol
Only reason I left Duncomb out was why would he leave now, with it looking like there's a clearer path to some playing time? I would have thought he would have left after last season if he were going to. I get the feeling he loves it at IU, and will stay as long as they let him. And I'm not sure I see Woody bumping people out if they want to be there?
I mean theoretically it makes sense, but TJD has missed several games this year and is still currently not 100% and Race is out indefinitely and Duncomb still hasn't played a meaningful rotation minute. It may click for him in year 3 but still think he sees a limited role next year at best. If his goal is to be a D1 starter/meaningful role player, it's probably not at IU.
are you expecting a war to breakout? as a student and parent he may be safe
He is 6'10 and cannot even get any minutes with Race out while Geronimo gets minutes. Hey may not leave but he really must be not close to ready for minutes if he cannot even get off the bench right now. Same for Banks but he is only a frosh Logan should be getting minutes by now if he was a legit big ten talent given our injuries.
Again, Trayce has played 38 and 40 minutes respectively the last two games. There will never be an instance where TJD and Duncomb are on the court together. If TJD doesn't come out of the game, it's impossible for Duncomb to see the floor.

IU doesn't need an 11 man rotation. JHS and Bates play a ton, Reneau gets meaningful rotation minutes, and Banks and Gunn are behind numerous other players. There's only X amount of guys you can play on the court at once, and Gunn and Banks are behind several of them.
I see no development in the one plus year Woodson has been coaching the assistant staff are a bunch of no name guys who have no head coaching or player development experience atleast with Matta and Fife there was that there.
Matta was not a coach and could not work with the players. He was here in an advisory role.
Matta wasn’t at every practice nor was he assisting or leading in any kind of scouting or game day preparation. And he sure as hell wasn’t on the bench during game day. Played far more of an administrative role than he did coaching.
I didn't think he could even be at practice, at least not working with the players. He could probably be there and observe and then consult with the coaches I guess.
Why stop there? Duncomb will leave knowing he’s not a P5 player. JG moves back home with his mom’s encouragement. Banks gets homesick and goes back home. Galloway decides to leave for UCLA so he can chase a modeling/acting career (according to my wife). Gunn sees the writing on the wall and leaves for PU. Leal retires to pursue his realtor career. And Cupps and Newton opt for the D-League.

What example do you have to show, that indicates any development? I haven't seen any significant development to give me any hope.

Geronimo is no better than last year and maybe has gotten worse. The guy is a junior you should see progress by now. He should really be on the bench full time.
Duncomb cannot get off the bench and he is 6’10.
Malik seems to have regressed.
TJB still can dunk but has no shot at all.
Kopp is the same as he always was.
Race has improved some but is up and down.
Bates up and down. Not anything close to what he was hyped up to be.
Offense is night and day better than last year. IU was a fringe top 100 KenPom efficient team on offense last year and now currently a top 25 offensive efficient team. 3 point shooting is markedly better than last year and that was the cause of concern that had everybody shouting and pulling their hair out all offseason. Indiana's defense has taken a nose dive the last 3 weeks and you can attribute at least some of that to losing key personnel.
Bottom line, IU is 3-1 in the B10 right now with even just below average defense played last week. Likely not going to return to the level of defense played the first month of the season, but even playing just average defense, IU should still be able to finish above .500 in the B10. That should be Woodson single task until when/if he gets X and Race back.
Assuming you could switch IU's current roster with Purdue's current roster, you are saying you would not want to do that?
Wow how many threads/replies do we have to have on this. I will list a few here and truly believe it however some want to only see bad no matter what.
TJD is playing the best of his career and might actually get drafted now.
Galloway is shooting way better than he has at any point in his career and turnovers have been cut in half.
Kopp is shooting great and has shown flashes of creating with the ball (not so much the last few games).
Bates has doubled his production across the board and shooting percentage.
X went from ok to team MVP by the end of last year. And after his injury we see the importance of his defense out front.
JHS has gone from shaky freshman to now looking like a potential lottery pick (fingers crossed he keeps it up but I suspect it will go up and down a bit).
Race went from a guy who couldn’t score outside of 4 feet to some semblance of a stretch 4, albeit an inconsistent one.
Where we are struggling is defense. And a lot of that has to do with 2 of your most valuable and experienced defenders being out and a third injured. I believe Galloway, who is already pretty good defensively, Bates, and others will get there, it will not happen overnight. You cannot cram 6 years (for Race), 5 years (for X), and 4 years (for TJD) of experience, almost all starting into a couple weeks of starting or extended minutes.
Imo this is the drawback of COVID year. There are a few classes who will all get 1 less year of starting or more minutes because others stuck around for 5th and 6th years. Geronimo imo falls into that. He almost certainly would have been our starter all year if not for Race and Kopp being back. And he would look better now. Unfortunately injuries happen and we are adjusting on the fly.

Nope. We have things to work on for sure. But to say we are developing nothing? We run no offense? We can’t recruit? All the other hundreds of things being said here and elsewhere are just butthurt fans who have likely never had to work for anything in their lives.
Maybe we get it corrected and maybe we don’t. But to say nothing positive or good is happening is incredibly narrow minded and stupid. I see some things improving and others not. I have seen great coaches have challenging seasons for a myriad of reasons and still remain great coaches. I believe Woody can get us there but if he doesn’t, you won’t here me saying stupid garbage about him and players because I am and IU fan and genuinely care about those representing the University and state. Plus i am not a small minded asswhole.
Thank God for the portal. There have to be big men out there who were incredibly impressed about how much TJD has improved under Woody. However Trace look like he was sleepwalking tonight. He talked about leadership all year but seem to have a pacifier in his mouth tonight.
Is there still a chance Johnson gets a medical redshirt or did IU not play enough games for that to happen?

I remember IU had to win 2 games post season in order to play for games to meet the threshold for him to come back. They won 2 games, so I believe he can return

TJD literally tried to do everything throughout both tourneys. Not sure any blame at all can be placed on him

Duncomb will but Geronimo is likely gone. Woodson was gonna improve and develop him this season. That never happened. Duncomb could be like Nunge at Xavier.
I agree about Duncomb if he could stay healthy. Geronimo, he just doesent have it upstairs. Bates & Geronimo are two types of basketball players Woody needs to stear clear of. Both in over their head.
