I mean if you want to look at it in the worst possible light then every ncaa team could lose 8-10 players via draft or portal. The only people we know are gone are Race, X, and Kopp. Everyone else has eligibility left. I personally believe TJD goes but I thought that 2 straight years now so until he tells us that I wouldn’t count on that. If JHS plays the rest of the year like the last two he will be gone too although with NIL who knows. That is 5 players. We already have 2 good recruits in next class. If we have to hit the portal because 3 players leave early, we will. I think we will likely try to bring in one more freshman and then wait and see on the other spots.

With the likelihood of winning about 3 games in the big ten next season it wouldn’t hurt to just start Cupps at the point. As for TJD, if he doesn’t go pro I hope he at least takes the highest NIL bidder and gets to play on a real top ten team that actually has a chance to win a title. He could be a great addition to a team that is close to having a complete roster.

Yeah it will be like on of Crean's first seasons type of fun! The recruits we have coming in are not instand impact guys and several of next years starting currently sit on the bench. It will basically be a total rebuilt type of lineup in year 3. I suspect 20 losses will be a real possibility.

You would hope this is the case but these coaches are pretty darn arrogant and I highly doubt he ever steps aside. He will make them fire him at some point. But given he is an IU guy Dolson will not fire him until at least after year four.

That is the probelem year three will feel like year one. Woodson decided to try and win now and it so far has not worked. So we will be in situation next year where it will be severaal likely rough years before we can again see if Woodson has it. Then again this is a rough year and last year we wnet 9-11 so I guess they are all rough just next year will be even more rough. But he is going to try and get them over the hump!!!

TJD if he can make a million or two would be dumb to leave IU, break every record you can, if it’s allowed not sure why he wouldn’t return? Same goes to Hood Scafino, unless he’s a first rounder return one more year and make bank! Problem is he may play his way into a first round pick.

I just don’t understand this pov at all. We had 3 known opening for next year. Currently we have 2 imo good recruits. Yes he went after some big guys and missed but that happens to every coach in the ncaa. In 2 recruiting classes he has landed 3 top 30 players. 7 total recruits so far for woodson and 3 are in the top 30 and I don’t believe any outside the top 150.

Now I get it, we also have a couple others who might go. Woodson has also already brought in 3 portal players, one of which has been really good and another a starter. I have complete confidence Woody will figure it out.

Not really when things are going good there really is not much to discuss and that goes for most people the board gets much more traffic when things are not going well. And the reason we need high ranked players is due to the system we run. It take superior talent where one's Purdue or Wisconsin run does not.

We missed out on almost almost every high ranked 2023 guy we went after. The two we got were very early on in the fall of 2021 before IU had even played a game yet . People were saying last summer just win and the recruits will come but right now we are not winning. If we start striking out on 2024 guys as well the writing could be on the wall for Woodson. That is the year he will need a montster classs if he is to survive.

If ALL those people leave that you mentioned...we'll have probably 2-3 starters that aren't currently on our roster. Transfer portal, late frosh signees, whatever.

I also think if JHS leaves, Cupps will start from day 1. Assuming this doesn't turn into an all out dumpster fire, and he finds somewhere else to go to school.

If that happens, we'd replace with a lot of transfers, I assume. No way of knowing where that would lead. The Texas Chokemaster completely rebuilt his roster via transfer and late signee frosh for his first year.

yeah incredibly way too early (and shortsighted) to get worked up over roster construction for next year. Portal era can allow for teams to have a brand new roster every year if that's how they want to build a team.

Probably though Crean was still getting a pass at that point remember " you don't know what he inherited". I really hope we have moved passed all that now. Woodson should be producing in year three period and getting us in the NCAA. Three years is plenty of time to show you have things moving in the right direction.

I'm inclined to say you're right. Even in HS he wasn't a huge scorer. All around play has always been his calling card. Having said that, I don't think 12 ppg is unattainable for Trey. Just the minutes uptick would push him up towards 10ppg game probably, without any sort of change in role or improvement in abilities. More minutes, more focus on him offensively, and another offeason of hard work on his shot...he could definitely score 12 a game.

I wouldn't bet on it. But its not like saying Duncomb, Banks, or Leal will average 12.

I could see Duncomb leaving as well and believe Leal is on track to graduate this spring. And with an IU degree in hand you'd have to think at some point he would value playing time elsewhere.

Your proposed starting lineup in my opinion is likely worst case scenario. Just can't envision a world where with potentially 5-6 scholarships available IU isn't able to pull 2-3 starter quality players from the portal.
