Mr. Gelon

Ask my friends Jake and Jad about their encounter with CS. He stepped way past his level of "expertise" and got taken to the shed over something most IU fans know well.

Be sure to tune in for the megacast. Will be a fun night regardless of who wins.

I've said it before on here. A family member that coaches at the juco level was in the VU gym when the senior Indiana All star team scrimmaged the junior squad. My cousin was interested in Gelon because nothing he had heard or seen before made him think Grant was a DI talent. After the scrimmage, he questioned why Gelon was on the all star team. My cousin played juco and DII and didn't think he was a strong DII prospect either. He wondered what Crean was thinking.

Another time a coach wondered what Crean was thinking was during the recruitment of Tijan Jobe. Jobe left the year before my cousin started playing at OCC. After Jobe left IU, his old coach told the story of Crean calling and asking for video of Jobe. The OCC coach asked if he wanted to see a game Jobe scored 2 points or 3. That didn't scare Crean off as we all know.

I agree with you about 90% of the time, but (unless I'm missing something) this sure looks like a creaning. I will say, if ever a creaning needed to be done for the good of both player and team... this is it.

Verbal commits added Race Thompson as an IU offer on May 3. Thompson's twitter announced the IU offer on May 2. Miller sits down with Gelon letting him know that he doesn't fit into future plans on May 3.

I'm of the opinion that the reclassification didn't come as a shocking late development in the recruitment of Thompson. If so, then Gelon's scholarship was needed to bring in Thompson.

As TR32 said, I can abide this one instance because Archie was put in a ridiculous situation by Crean's impulse shopping.
But an offer does not equal a commit. He made numerous offers, around a dozen.. Crean would accept commits beyond 13, up to 16 once, and then crean a player. And 5 or 6 out of 9 years, he was over committed? Serial creaner ..

All you did was deflect what I said. It's not about Painter. It's about Miller saying that these are my guys and then telling Gelon to get lost.
Btw...I bet you were a Knight fan. Did you make fun of his giant belly?
With you as a Broilee fan, it IS about PorkChop. You come over to our board because your board is a ghost town, and dig at our new coach because you have nothing, nothing , to look forward to at PUke. GG asked for his release, and got it. Porky ran off at least 6 players when he took the demotion to be the Broilee coach. Address how that is different from IU, except that it is 6 times worse. I don't have to make fun of the Broilees, as the facts speak for themselves. Oh, I would not want to compare Knight to HogHead Keady and the Mrs, if I were a broilee fan.

Where did the term "broilee" come from?

Yeah you're right about Keady since he beat him head to head. Knight made Painter look skinny! Of course you continue to throw out other things deflecting. You can honestly think that Miller was correct in what he did. I don't feel that way. We're talking about Miller, not Painter. I'm talking about this incident. I won't even get into the creaning done under your former coach.

Why would you take the time to come to this board and criticize what has happened in your own program many times? (Except full scholarship was not offered). Seems hypocritical.

Wow, you whine and cry, a lot.

Since old DD came up earlier...

I had his show on in the car coming back from the airport today. Said his Mom was having heart surgery, sure hope she does well.

He made a short comment about I think this site, saying that some "awful terrible" things has been posted about Grant. I don't think I noticed that here outside of some rather obvious (and not new) observations about his skill set not being consistent with BIG play... maybe on the Premium board?

I struggle believing that simply because it would damage his career.
On his radio show Dakich occasionally criticizes the managers/owners of thehoosier.com as allowing posters to be abusive and uncivil on the message boards.

Yup, at least Miller cleared the roster spot before getting the committal. The good news is this is not Miller's m.o., far from it. I expect this is the last time we'll have these kind of discussions with Archie at the helm.

I am so happy he's gone. No more stupid gimmicks. No more over recruiting with no regard to roster makeup. No more weird sub patterns..

Arch seems to be a purist, Crean was a spaz more concerned with PR than substance and always looking for the magic wand of gimmicks +5, to hide his lack of inherent talent.

And especially no more giving away 6 points a game due to his mismanagement of clock and situation.

*sigh of relief* ....

Ask porky about Jeff Robinson.

Hey Courtsense, I see No. 100 is coming up.

Do you mind sharing what are the criteria for his being counted in the first place and, of course, are you imposing any extra-special criteria for one of his posts to qualify for consideration as an extra-special, decennial-level No. 100-quality post?

Seems like he should have to try harder to make your No. 100 list. That's all. No big deal here.

I feel, 100% in support, in how Miller handled GG. Gelon asked for and received his release. If he had not, I would hope that Archie would rescind GG's scholarship. That is how I feel about the GG situation. I also knew he was not a D1 player, when he was in high school, as I had seen him play. This is all on Crean for signing a D3 player.

Now, back to PorkChop. As a broilee fan, how did you feel about the 6 players that he ran off his first 3 years? Did he treat them right, since Keady signed them, for the most part?

Ha!

Pretty simple really. I, like many, got sucked into his merry go round of mental illness arguing over what color the sky is on a cloudless day. That went on for three or four of his reincarnations after being banned for bad behavior.

The short version is that less than a year ago (and I can't recall if it was two of his names ago or just one) but he melted down in a big way after he was nailed in a lie about attending the Nebrasks game. He does not attend games and has likely never set foot in Btown.

At that point he claimed he would never respond to me again which made me happy. Well since then, he has responded to (at least) 99 of my posts...generally with some embittered hate speech. I have yet to respond to him other than helping him understand just how obsessed he is with me, hence the count.

Guy is like a carp flopping on a hot dock around me...fascinating study on human behavior when self esteem is completely absent.

I may pop a cork on 100. Dude is 24karat nuts.

He's been stalking me for several months since I joined up here. I caught him in a rather easily detected lie and it embarrassed him, so this is his revenge. Among other things, he lied about attending IU and being a season ticket holder and busted himself by not knowing some very basic details of IU, the campus, the athletic facilities, and Bloomington. Kind of sad that he put on such a phony front. My buddy Jake absolutely splayed him recently and Jad exposed him for not knowing the basics of the Russian basketball game when Coach went off. Funny but very creepy stuff.

I know I will probably regret this but what "basics" of the Russian game didn't he know?

How the end transpired, including how IU came to leave the court. Jake and Jad corrected him, yet he stubbornly clung to his incorrect version and then stomped around Twitter when they proved him wrong. His tortured re-telling still doesn't get it right, though it's clear he googled to get many of the details he initially screwed up when Jake and Jad ran him into the ground. He was shown to be the fraud he is and he's been crying ever since.

The short version

Dicky V had tweeted complaining that LaVar Ball had sent a poor message to his AAU kids when he actively waived his players off the floor after he had received a single T.

jake Query, who is a Indy Car turn announcer with a minor radio show in Indy objected to Dicky saying Bob Knight had done the "exact same thing" referring to the 1987 Russian game that ended in a forfeit. While the end result was the same (forfeit) The events that led up to it were very different.

I corrected Jake as what actually happened was different in that official JIm Burr had called the game after BK refused to leave the floor after receiving three Ts and being ejected following a missed free throw lane violation by the Russians. Burr called the game over and The players left along with Knight. I was sitting close between the bench and the scorers table and heard the entire conversation. Knight never went out and pulled his team as Ball had. Ball had one T and was not ejected, he just waived his team off. Burr looked at Knight and said are you leaving...Knight said no and Burr signed the book.

Query sobbed and stomped until he called his pal Todd Jadlow who (while coached) responded without ever really reading what I actually posted. This has apparently given Ordfan here his current level of self esteem.

The fact of the matter is that I completely understood what happened...in enough detail to distinguish it from what LaVar Ball did. It may seem a minor difference, but to say I didn't know what happened that eve is clearly BS.

Flop, flop, flop . . .
Says the guy who tried to act like he was a hoops insider and didn't know there were whispers about Cal and UMass. See if you can research Marcus Camby. Oh, and tell us all about supposedly knowing Eddie! Perhaps you'll learn something instead of trying to pretend to be something you're not. Flip, flop goes Tas. The Pretender.

Well, I was at that game too and your version is EXACTLY what I witnessed too.

I have argued with many people when they say that Knight pulled his team from the floor because that infers that IU left the court DURING the game and that is just not what happened.

In the end, Yes, Knight caused the game to be forfeited because HE would not leave but he DID NOT pull his team from the floor DURING the game. As you stated, the game was OVER. I couldn't hear the conversations but Burr went to the scorers table, signed the book, stepped back, blew his whistle, waived his arms, called the game over, the officials left the floor and THEN Knight and IU left the floor. The Russians were left standing wondering what the hell just happened along with the fans in attendance.

As you stated, maybe a fine point but that was the course of events and I have a VERY clear recollection of them.

Court found this version via Google. He stumbled badly when he got blasted by Jake and Jad. He's still limping.

It is not "THIS" version, it is the only version and I witnessed it first hand, just as I related.

This was a couple years before I got season tickets but we had great seats for that game that a family friend had given to me.

Russians were beating the hell out of IU at the time and there had been two or three bizarre calls including that uncalled lane violation. Knight went to the end of the Russian bench to bitch at somebody...perhaps a promoter. I was sitting between Burr at the scorers table and Knight slouched in his chair. Burr says "are you leaving", Knight says "no" and Burr signs the book and blows the whistle. Crabb awkwardly says Ladies and gentlemen that concludes the game, please drive safely.

Got to Nicks a little early.
