lindsey graham is upset some people

I’m going to add “Trump train” to my list of words and phrases that, if a person uses them, I could never, ever hang out with. Current list includes “deep state” and “fake news” for example.

As I understand it, the $600 was an amount chosen to be easy. The result is that in some statrs with better UI protections some people may make more by quitting than working. Yet the same people who are mad at that are perfectly OK with Boeing giving the man who, created a corporate culture that incentivized employees who knew they were building a plane that will kill you, $62 million as a reward for doing that and getting fired. Getting paid $62 million for creating an unsafe plan is not a terrible incentive but having some workers, not all but some, make a little more by not working is a crisis.

Let us file murder charges against the former Boeing CEO then talk about the workers?

why do you hate capitalism?

I can assure you of one thing. The poor are never going to become rich by “gaming the system” this time. Never.

Keep the poor in their place. You and your republican brethren have been doing great at it since the 1980s.

So what? That is all you have? So What? If they don't want to better themselves and their families, why should I?

Now before you go off on some rant about me not caring, don't. That is not how I feel. But I am asking you if they don't care, why should I? If you think that by them gaming the system and winning a 3 month lottery is actually beneficial over the long run, then you and I will disagree. I don't find that way of thinking helpful to anybody. Me, You, Them, nobody.

We live in the richest country in the world, by far. Your post is either extraordinarily ignorant, or you just like posting stupid stuff. If you haven't got to where you wanted to in life, take a look in the mirror, and quit blaming others.

Dumb statement about republicans. I don’t know one republican that wants to keep the poor “in their place”. My guess is I’ve been more poor in my life than you have ever been. I also believe in a safety net to help the poor.

Plus 1000%. Betting he spends more time sitting around condemning successful people than working hard to improve his lot in life.

when one party wants ridiculous sht that has zero business in the aid response, and the other party wants different ridiculous sht that has no business in the aid response, apparently the only responsible thing to do is allow both sides to keep their ridiculous sht in.

that's what's known in DC as compromise.

new boss, same as the old boss.

if only there was something that could be done that would have given immediate relief to those who needed it, didn't disincentivize those who can work still working, but being rewarded for doing so, won't have a trillion or two or three in giveaways to corps, and won't cost the 4T this will.

of course if there weren't trillions in giveaways to corps, neither side of the isle would be doing their jobs.

of course they don't.

it's just that all the things they do want, magically lead to that end.

Jim? Yeah, he's WAY too liberal for today's GOP. He's practically a socialist.
I guess I was wrong, his post had a hint of sarcasm. Whatever he is, I guess it takes all types to make the world go around.

LOL. So the black and white language is a typo?
No the "black and white language" which would have been the cap for not drawing a combination of State UI and this provision that exceeded 100% of the claimant's Average Weekly Wage in the 52 weeks prior to the separation was not put in the bill. My insider told me today that the Dems refused to have the cap put in the draft and the Republicans knuckled.

You two sure are enjoying pulling up each other's bootstraps.

Goat, you know exactly how I feel about this. You’re one of the most intelligent of all posters here. You obviously have many talents and abilities I will never have. I chose to use what little I have differently than you.

Back when I first joined I read lots of stuff you posted that had nothing to do with politics. It enlighten me and stirred my interest things I hadn’t thought much about.

I am never going to change my opinion that the American Dream is achievable by almost anyone that wants to make the sacrifice to achieve it.

I completely agree.

One of the truest statements I have ever heard was "I was never hired or worked for a poor man". I too am 100% for building a safety net for the poor but the poor that are trying to better themselves not the poor who are insistent on others giving them more and more because they have it to give. I've never been one that thinks you should punish the rich just because they have more.

The "i'm always beat down" mentality is old. I'm two generations removed from extreme poverty and only because my grandfathers worked their asses off and my parents worked their asses off am I where I am today. I'm by no means rich, but I'm comfortable. I will tell you that in my comfort I have kept pushing to do and get more because America affords me that luxury. I just hope my two daughters realize the efforts made by those in our family before them to keep it going.

You wrong on something in this thread? I can't even imagine it. ;)
I know it is amazing. I guess I haven't read enough of this endless back and forth banter to know who leans which way. Can I call upon you to let me know?

Obviously, I disagree with your sentiment, although I suppose that disagreement is rooted more in how you define "almost anyone" than anything else. We both agree that some people are born with more advantages than others. Being born rich, white, smart, etc., is a leg up. But, of course, even with the biggest disadvantages, it is quite possible for someone to rise from the very bottom to the very top. It does seem, however, that you feel those advantages and disadvantages are far less influential than I feel.

And thanks for the kind words, but please don't overestimate my abilities. I have a pretty good command of the English language, and I can use that command to appear much more intelligent and insightful than I really am!

Your strange rant about poor people wasn't remotely responsive to what I was talking about.

You clearly have some serious issues to work through.
No, I really don't. I am 100% happy with my life, will continue to feel that way. I think most people who know me think I am a pretty good guy. I don't need your advice, trust me, as to what issues I need to work through or not. I will leave that to some of your customers at the bar who want your advice.

And yes, I will continue to pray on this. I will anxiously await your next mocking of those of us who do.

That guy has been far off the mark for a very long time. Ridicule of other peoples' faith is beneath the bottom for regular people. Prayer is powerful. Those who haven't taken up that practice are missing a big blessing and opportunity.

The rich have been gaming the system for centuries, and that hasn't bothered you one bit. Now the working guy gets a little something something and the economy is going to come crashing down? You really need to pray on this one.
I think you’re missing a key point. The rich were law-abiding citizens, respecting the laws if the land. Cough cough.

the richest country in the world? how much money does china owe us?

Respect your opinion and was sincere in my compliments. You and everyone here stay safe and healthy.

You are really going to go after the farmers of America? I'm very thankful for all the farmers, there is probably a reason they are not on this board defending their honor from guys like you and that is because they are out working. lol

I'm good, really didn't need the unemployment back in 2009 but took it. I was a bit younger and thought I would get mine the same as so many get mine. I was selfish but definitely not naïve.
10-4 good buddy! I'm just getting in, and haven't really started yet.

I do hope I am at least smart enough to note whom I am talking to, and not simply pull out cliche nonsense that doesn't actually apply to them.
Such as?

Why did you jump into this conversation to begin with? Kurt, who is obviously trolling or somebody with a second name, made a comment. I responded by sayin that is probably not good for the country over long term. I know that you do not think everybody should quit their job and go file unemployment. I know that you think if people did, it would not be good for the country, or themselves. But you wanted an argument, and a stupid one at that. Go back and read my response to Kurt and tell me if you agree with it, or don’t.

I jumped in only for the reason I stated when I jumped in. The little guy gets shit on regularly, so if he gets a small advantage here, good for him.

I wouldn't have responded to Kurt, obviously. But you did, so I responded to you.

Oh, and as an example to your question, your snarky remark about belittling religious folks. If you spent any time at all around these parts, you should know it was wildly out of place to direct that kind of snark at me.

And I agree that he gets shit on, regularly, and contrary to what you may think, I don’t like it. That doesn’t mean that I am going to ever agree that he should “game the system” and collect unemployment for a few months by quitting his job. I also maintain that in the long run, it would not be good for the country, as I originally stated.
And your little cheap shot about praying on it was totally uncalled for.

And I was taking issues with the pearl-clutching, is all.

But, in reality, the only people who will quit their jobs so they can get a bigger paycheck for four months are idiots. Then, the extra benefits dry up, and they are in the job market with millions of other qualified, newly-unemployed folks? Dumb.

The prayer remark wasn't a cheap shot; it was genuine. If you paid attention to my posting, you'd know that. I'm sorry you felt it was some sort of cheap shot at religious folks, but that's really not me.
