It isn't in schools

Man I tell you, school is a crazy place. The text indeed push social issues. They’re inserted so a kid doesn’t even notice.

The issues my 6th grader has faced have been shocking. I was naive. She’s constantly pushed on her orientation because she’s not into boys. She’s 12! It’s crazy. We’re leaving public school and heading to Catholic school next year. Figure we’ll do that with all the kids. The High School sounds just unbelievable. (And this is a county that votes 70/30 Red)
Smart. Catholic is way better. No virtue-signaling masks. No lockdowns. And they removed zippers from all the priests' pants. All good now

Here in Indy, there have been a couple of clashes in the last few years between the Archdiocese and staff members in same sex marriages.
I'll bet that opens up all kinds of discussions in the student body.

Also, check out stories out of Worcester about the Nativity School flying Pride and BLM flags, much to the chagrin of the Bishop.
Can't stay insulated forever.

It's all about clarity.

If I praise a good free throw shooter, I could generically say "Wow, what a shooter". But better, for this audience, would be to say the shooter reminds me of Steve Alford, or Reggie Miller.

If I marvel over someone's abject stupidity, I could generically say "Wow, what a moron". But better, for this audience, would be to say that the dumbass is practically a DANC. The pinnacle of dumbassery.
For a guy with 4 degrees - 2 from the Ivy League, supposedly - you are amazingly juvenile.

Like I said, I seldom agree with DANC's politics, but he is far, far from the pinnacle. Either on the left or the right.
It's even more ridiculous when he claims to have me on ignore. lol

Yet, he somehow knows what I post......

Like same sex couples in multiple story problems. Teaching of Islam in a reading comprehension exercise. Those are both examples from my 4th graders coursework. These should not be in elementary coursework.
Thank you.
So, are you against the inclusion of all couples in story problems? Also, interested in how Islam is "taught". Are you against all religion being taught in school? I've seen several posters on here complain about things being covered at the expense of academic time. Will you have the same problem if the Bible is covered at Catholic school, or is that okay?
What is the name of the textbook company? Are we talking Indiana?

Yes, Indiana.

In elementary I am against these types of subjects. These are issues for at home with parents. I was a public school kid and don’t remember ever remember doing reading comprehension on Muhammad the profit. (That was the subject of the reading). (Or Jesus for that matter!)

I just don’t understand why they don’t use unisex names. When you clearly use the names of 2 females you’re clearly pushing an issue. It’s not hard to say “Taylor and Lindsey” or something similar.

If they go to catholic school and get taught religion, I’m fine with that. We’re a traditional Christian values family just like the majority of the US.

Hard to argue with any of that.
Glad you have the wherewithal to afford private Catholic school...just don't ask for any of my money via tuition vouchers.

In school ..
I read about Marx. I'm not communist.
I read about homosexuality. I'm not a homosexual.
I read about Islam. I'm not muslim.
I read about Christ. I'm not Christian.
I read about Hitler. I'm not a nazi.

You guys believe kids look to their teachers, textbooks and lessons as role models for their opinions and maps for their life choices...... laughable.

They believe old ass teachers, and stupid text books (and most parents) are lame AF and out of touch...

If you don't want your kids to be indoctrinated into current societal norms, lock them in their room, take away their phone and keep them away from other kids. Besides that they do what they feel is right, form their own opinions with help from their peers, regardless and in spite of what a school, text book, teacher or even parent thinks.

Are you guys really this out of touch with reality?

The irony, that I can't ignore .. is that the ones complaining the loudest HAVE been groomed by memes, bots, and entertainment news into this and other bullshit radicalized belief. Hilarious ... hopefully the kids are not as weak minded as a bunch of disgruntled boomers.

Look in the god damn mirror ..

Why shouldn’t students/parents get to choose where they spend their money for school? It is their tax dollars.
I don't care where they spend their money...have at it. But my money?

So, you would be okay with your tax dollars going to a Wiccan school?

We generally favored textbooks that didn't dumb down the subject. We had no desire to produce a bunch of thoughtless DANCs.
I think I'd rather have a bunch of thoughtless people in charge over a bunch of elites who think the know it all and know what's good for everyone when, if fact, they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Did you read about incels? Or in an incel group on the internet?

This is is the pure Leftist game......."nothing to see here". It gets old.

Says our resident former Republican. If it makes no difference then how about:

Christianity overtook the majority of the world because its tenets were found to be superior in building both the individual and society at large. The benefits of Christianity and its impact on Western thought can be seen in the dominance the West has had over the world for centuries.

Jesus is an important figure in Christianity. If he has 2 fish and 5 loaves available to feed 5,000 people. How many times would he need to miraculously multiply each to feed the 5,000?

Just math right? Just the same as two trains moving in a different direction. Nothing to see here...

Clown.
A lot of people don't know this, but the Bible says there were 5,000 men present. So the women and the children were not counted which means we would have to know the exact number of people which could be over 20,000 for it to be a proper math question.

I would bet my life savings that there's no way that 41% of MATH textbooks were full of the crap that they are saying they were full of. It's a case of DeDantis's goon squad having a bizarre filter and rejecting any book with a story problem somewhere in it that (as an example) used a generic word such as "parent" or "guardian" instead of their preference, "mother" or "father".
Or they NEVER say "father" or "mother" and ALWAYS say parent or guardian. Because that's what we're talking about, not your bs example.

He gave you an answer. You asked him for examples and he gave you two. Then you went into your bs 21 question 'nothing to see here mode'. We're tired of playing your games.
I think I was pretty polite and thanked him. Of course, he's not the asshole you are on here. I was curious, and I know curiosity is the bane of the conservatives' existence.

BTW, mushy...my dad is still alive and sharper than you at 90 yo...in case you wanted to make any more jokes about him.

We need to debate what "proselytizing" means. If it means it is equally ok to be straight or gay and we should accept that, cool.
Is it ok if we say that men with promiscuous homosexual lifestyles are more prone than hetro males to HIV & other sexually transmitted disease; Hep A, B & C; anal cancer; Depression & Anxiety; body image and eating disorders; alcoholism, nicotine addition & other substance abuse; and domestic abuse?

Should we mention the much greater %s of suicidal ideation, attempts and completed suicides?

I never said anything about your dad.

Has Florida released more examples? These examples may be random, may be the most egregious, may be least egregious. I would suspect the urge would be to show the most obvious

Some see this story as a group pushing an agenda into schools.

Others see it as the system working by keeping the aforementioned agenda out of the school system.

Of course every issue can be framed as one wishes I suppose.
Another 'nothing to see here' response.

I never said anything about your dad.
My 89 year old dad used to tell me, "Believe nothing you hear, and only 1/2 of what you see.

He's still pretty wise for a liberal, as evidenced by the fact that my mom is a Trumpy Republican, and they have been married for over 70 years.

If he's 89 and still a liberal, he's not wise.

Riiiight.
Looking forward to your "nothing to see here" response.
