"Of these 109 Democrats, Harris has the second-most liberal voting record. This makes her slightly less liberal than Warren, but more liberal than all of the remaining 107 Democrats, and significantly more liberal than all but a handful."

Didn't download the app but did notice it was an opinion piece rather than a MSN article.

Don't like that...at all...

I do wonder though, how much influence does her representing California, have on her voting record in Congress?

Seems like her history before being a Senator representing the most liberal state we have, was a fair bit more moderate. To the point where some of her stances and actions early on in her political career could be troublesome to her farther left base.

Maybe she'll govern differently? Heck, if Trump can flip parties entirely, and capture the minds, hearts, and souls of millions in his new party...maybe she can lead from a more moderate position?

Unlikely. And it pisses me off we're in this position.

Picking Walz isn’t a good sign

Agreed initially. My hopeful thought was she might know she'll be a more moderate candidate and leader than her recent record indicates, and she wanted the ticket and administration to remain anchored left... But that's a pretty big reach.

More likely is she is more of what her voting record indicates, and Walz fits with that more than the other main candidates did.

I guess purely from my seat...the only silver lining from all this is we'll either get an Administration that aligns with some more of my own policy issues...Or we'll be rid of the worst human being to ever go to work in the Oval Office.

Why are you even on this board? Please take your politics elsewhere.

I think she's unapologetically liberal when it comes to women's reproductive rights. She's on record that she's a gun owner and not really interested in taking peoples' guns, so she's fairly moderate on that. I think your idea that representing California probably skews her rating left for these rankings. I think there's a whole thread here on tax policy...perspectives on where she falls on the political spectrum there depends on where you are on the political spectrum, I guess.

What’s “women’s reproductive rights”?

I wish someone would press he on this gun ownership thing. Similar to the supposed job at McDonalds, no mention of it before the 2019 campaign. No verification or details of either when the campaign is contacted.

“When did you buy it?” “What kind of gun?” “How often do you go to the range?”

I don’t believe it for a second. This is the lady that said she’s willing to send police to you house to ensure you’re properly securing your guns. She’s FOS.

What skews her left is not being from California, it’s her voting record and the bills she sponsors.

To the extent she has any ideology at all, she’s a radical progressive Marxist.

Voting record when she represented California means less than when she is representing us all. I do not know why she hasn’t said she was liberal as she was representing a liberal state. Nor do I know why Dream Team cares more about her actions in the 1990’s with Willie Brown than it does about Trump being labeled a frequent flyer on Lolita Express in Maxwell trial.

The dream team cares about her being the second most liberal senator this century, selecting walz, rush to judgment shit on cops, defunding, free cheese, and equity of outcomes. Her record belies her say anything campaign

I think her gun ownership is less important than what she'd likely do regarding gun safety laws in her first term. If she's telling those types of stories - it likely means she has no intention of any type of gun bans.

And I think the skewing left is a chicken-egg thing. She represented a very liberal part of a very liberal state and her constituents expected a liberal voting record.

She's not a Marxist, anymore than Trump is a fascist dictator.

Fwiw. I don’t think there is enough wattage in her brain or conviction to hold any kind of political ideology. She’s never had to run a primary, it’s not like she ever had to be worried about her left flank in California. That only happened when she ran for President in 2020 and she tact’d further left than Bernie.

She would be an instrument of entrenched interests the same way Biden is.

In my opinion, anyone who says this stuff about Harris/Biden and supports and votes for Trump can't be taken seriously.

Clearly Trump is a representative of entrenched interests as evidenced by the entire Federal workforce and every corporation lining up against him.

The emphasis on primaries is relatively recent with party bosses picking candidates at conventions for much of our history.

Back in about 1960 I was all
for more democracy as could be achieved with presidential primaries. Since then, have sometimes thought we should go back to the old days.

Listening to the ordinary citizen callers on C-Span this morning explain which presidential candidate they were voting for and why, made me yearn for days of yore

Me I’ll wait for a candidate with fiscal responsibility and a moral compass in line with my own. You gents hopefully will be on your mountain soon enough
